Marlins MTO has been my favorite I have done so far in the seven MTOs I've completed. We traded for Kyle Tucker, Jorge Soler, and ended up getting JT Realmuto back in Miami for Sixto Sanchez. What a trade!
I'll have one choice from pre-ordering the MVP edition. I am torn between Sheffield, Smoltz, and Mantle. I loved Sheff when I was younger, always emulated his bat wiggle when I had a 3-0 count at the plate. Smoltz might be my favorite Non-Astros pitcher of all time. Then there is Mantle, between him and Craig Biggio the reason why I donned number 7 in my playing career. It will be a very hard choice to make.
Even though it is frustrating at times, I don't have any qualms about not being able to hit my spot, even on perfect pitches. Should a perfect pitch be very close to where I set the location? Absolutely. Should a perfect pitch move towards the center of the plate or hang? Absolutely not. But the control portion of the pitcher's stats should really coincide with user input. If I have bad timing with a wild pitcher that is understandable. If I have perfect timing with Maddux, it should be pretty much on spot.
Don't trade for him. The Red Sox will trade him away fairly easily but you won't be able to use him on the ML roster. Just an FYI.
@BodamEscapePlan said in Chris Sale:
Is that right, @TotesMuhGotes? What team were you playing as when you traded for him? He's someone I've wanted to acquire in a few of my M2O's (especially with my White Sox) but I was worried about this being a problem. In my most recent Indians M2O, I managed to execute a trade for Andrew Miller, who was also in Triple-A prior to acquiring him from the Cardinals. You would think as long as the overall comes in above your other options at the position, they would automatically be put on your Major League roster -- especially considering we're playing what is essentially a one-year game mode. I know you can continue on from the end of the season to turn it into a multi-year Franchise but a lot of us aren't going to be doing that.

I was playing as the Astros. The trade was Josh James and a couple of B prospects for Sale. So my trade included my number five starter. After the trade, the CPU moved Austin Pruitt from the pen to my number five spot and called up a third catcher who was a 72 OVR to fill the 26 man roster.
I just looked and Sale is indeed not on the 40-Man. I'd assume because he is on the 60 day IL in real life they chose to remove him from the 40-Man roster in game. I wished I would have looked at that before the trade!
Zero over the last three for me, too.
I started an Astros MTO to pick up that Jeff Bagwell FOTF card. Mid-April I was offered Ronald Acuna Jr. for Kyle Tucker, Forest Whitley, and Korey Lee so I made that trade quick. Then, about the beginning of July, I was offered Wilson Contreras for a SS prospect and Rogelio Armenteros and I accepted that. Then trade deadline day came and I was offered Chris Sale for Josh James and two nobodies. I took no doubt, however, I didn't realize Sale wouldn't be brought up to the ML club after the trade was made.
Holy cow. Doing a Dodgers' MTO for the second time and I tried the "don't list anyone in the targeting trade" method. I had the woooorst offers this go than any of the other six I have done. I had my positional needs as CF, 1B or SS. Said I wanted right-handed bat and power. The first trade opportunity best player was Myles Straw for some scrubs so I took it to get the speed. Then not another opportunity until 7/28 and the best option was Corey Dickerson so I declined. The next opportunity on 7/30 had Nick Ahmed as the best player so I declined that as well. I don't know if I'll be doing the target no one strategy again to try and get a great trade offer.
I'm 75% through my 7th MTO run. It does seem like this last run there fewer opportunities. Three to be exact. Seems like I normally get 5 or 6 opportunities for trade and/or call ups. This time only three.
It was crazy I had never been able to finish one until I did a Dodgers MTO. During my season with the Dodgers I had five opportunities and was able to complete two! One with Kershaw and the other with Price.
James Pazos is the best I've gotten from a TA pack.
I’ve used directional since it’s inception and it’s great offline for simple ratings based results. Online it’s not. Last year was the first year I really started playing online. With good timing in last years you could be somewhat successful but you basically singled your way to wins. This year you need perfect perfect on a swing for it to be more than a bloop or out. But also be prepared for groundouts on letters high sliders or whiffs on pitches down the middle with good timing. It’s a complete roll of the dice unless you get perfect-perfect.
