I feel the need to get this off my chest. If we don’t let our voices be heard, SDS is going to continue putting out subpar games.

I was reading the College Football 27 deep dive and one line jumped off the page: “Satisfy the Core Community” because “This is THEIR game.”

Man… if that didn’t hit home.

It feels like MLB The Show has been doing the exact opposite for years.

I’m not here to trash the dev team. Like all of us, I’m sure they’re doing the best they can with the resources they have. And to be fair, there have been some good additions. The scouting updates and Trade Hub were steps in the right direction.

But they feel half-finished.

As a Franchise player, it’s frustrating to watch so much time and energy go into features that don’t meaningfully move the game forward for the people who just want an immersive baseball simulation.

It’s 2026, and the graphics still feel stuck in the PS4 era. We have a fantastic Stadium Creator, but still can’t create expansion teams. There are established MLB players who still don’t have face scans. Managers aren’t even in the game. The coaches that do exist, the ratings feel random and have little personality or impact.

And that’s before getting into all the little things that have barely evolved over the last five to ten years.

I know this probably sounds like another fan complaining on the internet, but it comes from a place of disappointment more than anger.

Baseball is my favorite sport. MLB The Show used to be my favorite game.

Now it just feels like I’m buying the same game every year and hoping this is finally the version that gives Franchise mode—and the core baseball fan—the attention they deserve.

Yeah, it updates for players that I suppose I’d describe as have “cards” already in the game. So already scanned in faces for guys update. But for a player that is fresh to getting a face scan in the game like Konnor Griffin, it does not. It stays the generic sds created face.

That’s what I’m hoping they can somehow update. A way to get the newly scanned guys into my already up and running franchise. It’s bothered me for YEARS.

I’m not sure if many think the way I do or not.. but I would really REALLY appreciate a way to have the new face scans added to the rosters transfer over to Franchise mode. For example.. would love to have the face scan of Konnor Griffin and Slade Caldwell in my Franchise… but I’d have to completely restart a franchise for that to be the case.

I know in previous years.. probably back on PS3 when you entered a players name it would pop up with the option to have it take shape of a player in the system?

Anyways, fine detail, I know. But it would really make my franchise experience so much better. I love the face scans and the players that actually look like themselves.

I totally get that aspect. But it feels like the answer is find a way to get the rights... Look at what EA College Football has done. Am I crazy to think this is something that should be strived for?

Hey, SDS team and the show players!

I certainly do not want to come off as a complainer...But, I felt the need to submit my displeasure with the direction MLB the Show 24 has taken. When just about every core mode needs updating, it seems all efforts were pushed towards new ideas.. When the core modes are nowhere near perfect. Not to mention, the graphics are nowhere near up to par for the now current gen PS5's.

Admittedly, I am a Franchise player and I know (From what all sports games have tailored their focus towards) it isn't the big money maker. However, I know the Franchise community has felt forgotten over the years.

Seeing what EA College Football is accomplishing proves just what a little TLC to franchise mode could do for the game. I would love nothing more than this to be the case for The Show.

Other than scouting/MLB Draft (Which has been FANTASTIC) there have been no significant updates in quite some time. On top of the mode itself, there has been a serious lack of face scanes added.. Which for franchise takes away the excitement of prospects making it to the bigs (at least it does for me).

I know you all appreciate feedback and I hope you'll take this into consideration. Below I'll list some wishlist items for upcoming iterations.

WISHLIST:

1. Face scans!! - Prospects and new player face scans make a massive difference in realism
2. Expansion Franchise - I have been praying for this addition for YEARS. I know I am not alone. It would make Franchise so much fun.
3. Updated commentary/presentation for created teams - Every single year of my Franchise with a created team opening day is "The team starting in a new city".. When I have been in the city for four years..
4. GM Mode/Owner Mode - something to make yourself feel more connected to your team.
5. Trade deadline importance - EA's NHL does a good job at making the trade deadline mean something... This could be the case in The Show.
6. Quirks - Quirks need to be able to be gained for players. Having a player reach 90 Overall and have ZERO quirks is silly. If we can't earn them, at least allow us to edit the quirks ourselves.
7. Ratings adjustments - The discrepancy between franchise and real world MLB top prospects is tough. A real top prospect takes years to develop into a star player in the show. Meanwhile MLB Draft SDS prospects can be impact players immediately. A player like Fernando Tatis Jr. coming up to the bigs and dominating immediately isn't exactly possible with the ratings given to the real "Top Prospects"
8. Some sort of conversation engine - Being able to interact with players throughout the season or during contract negotiations would be a nice addition. There isn't a whole lot of personality in the mode.

I know it is not easy to put this game together, so thank you for everything you guys do.
