    Showdown difficulty

If you can’t gets 4 runs with 20 outs, I’m not sure what to tell you. That’s over 2 full games. On veteran difficulty.

It's actually 5 runs, but my point was also that instead of like 4 steps to get to boss it's now 6-8, which makes lots more opportunity for failure than in years past.

In years past, if you did all the levels up to the final boss you'd get to even runs, which would even allow you to skip some bosses. This year there are more henchman giving fewer runs toward the final, and there ends up being at least a 4-run gap at the end even if you do all levels.

The one thing I've never heard on the forums is "make showdowns harder," yet that seems to be what has been done for TA and WBC showdowns already. Please solicit feedback on this, because I know I'm not the only one frustrated at the increased difficulty.

I have only played starter program showdown and failed first mission and had success on all the other missions... going into the Final Showdown it was 10-9 CPU lead, had I won the first showdown it would've been 10-10... I haven't tried the other showdowns yet but I imagine if you don't win the blue showdowns that's why you are missing runs.

WBC and I think TA don't have blue showdowns, it's all bosses.

  • Loving It
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

Congratulations to the SDS team for the best Show launch and product yet! I'm really loving the captains features and breadth of programs already at launch. Even more stunning is the server reliability during early access, which has never, ever been this good.

One of the biggest surprises is Storylines. I wasn't sure I'd have the patience to watch a lot of video and do a long program, but the amazing stories from the negro leagues has made this mode my favorite so far! Absolutely stunning that Satchel Paige was still pitching in MLB in what was likely his 60s. Imagine!

Anyways, I've done my fair share of complaining over the years and this version isn't perfect (lack of stadium builder updates is disappointing), but the content this year deserves a shout out and thanks. Keep it up!

  • Betts moment
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

Not that it matters from a gameplay standpoint, but today’s daily moment has the wrong date. It should be May 2, 2018 (not 2008). Betts wasn’t even in the league yet in 2008, but I only caught it because I was actually at that game at Fenway while visiting Boston. Nice day game with 80 degree weather in early May, and seeing Betts clobber the Royals was a treat.

I did get razzed for wearing a Rockies cap, but I guess that’s on brand. Fans actually made a young mom cry from the heckling they gave her for wearing a Royals jersey.

This was an issue last year, but I thought it was an oversight from the first year implementation.

It is not an oversight. It was only a few year back that the programs stopped at the bosses. Then they added some rewards past the end bosses after getting player feedback.

But you still progressed with universal xp before last year. I really don’t know why they decided to get rid of program independent progression, it was kind of fun to see if you could make diamond or higher by the end of the year. There’s nothing like that now, xp is only good for program rewards.

  • Mini Seasons: An Unhandled Server Exception occured
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

Same thing for me, I won the first playoff series in 5 games and even got the mini season icon reward, but haven't been able to even enter the mode since. Unhandled server exception each time.

BR, conquest mystery map, mini seasons, RS, events all Give rewards outside of xp. Plenty of ways to still play and earn things.

Or you could do all of those things while also earning XP. Also, mini seasons is still broken for me -- I get an unhandled server exception even trying to enter the mode after winning the first playoff series.

  • Snow covered field
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

I had this happen too, but it also made my custom wall height all jagged as well. I was able to go in to the creator and it looked fine in there so I resaved and uploaded and it did indeed fix the issue for me.

  • Max Program XP
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

There really needs to be an incentive to play the game after you max the main program xp. This was an issue last year, but I thought it was an oversight from the first year implementation.

I by no means am one of the top players, and I have 10 days of the 30-day program where I gain no xp at all for any actions and have no real motive to play until the next program drops. Others maxed out way earlier than that.

It seems it wouldn't be too hard to award increased stubs when xp is maxed, or create an infinite epilogue to the program that awards vanilla packs or stubs every 100k or something after the end goal of the program.

  • One small change to make commentary better
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

I know there are issues with the new commentary (missing names, wrong calls, repetition), but as I was playing and watching a real game I noticed one glaring omission to play-by-play that should be somewhat easy to implement that would make the commentary much more realistic:

Include what they've done in previous at-bats in the game! Saying "Now batting, Seth Beer, who's 0 for 3 today" would really go a long way. Every baseball broadcast since the beginning has incorporated this for every at bat, and it's pretty glaring to omit.

Even better would be to actually talk about what they've done in more detail, like "Cron hit a 450-ft homer in the 3rd to give the Rockies the lead," but let's at least start simple. 🙂

  • Perfect-Perfect Should Be Auto Homeruns
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

@gmoney-1234_psn said in Perfect-Perfect Should Be Auto Homeruns:

Just because a pitch is on the outer third of the dish doesn’t mean a batter HAS to push the pitch to make the best contact, and the same goes for inside pitches, and down the middle pitches. Just because it’s inside, doesn’t mean you have to pull it to hit 95+ exit velo

It actually does work that way. There may be a few real life exceptions, but you certainly don't see an outside pitch pulled with authority very often.

  • PCI Lock changed my life
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

@chieftexan_psn said in PCI Lock changed my life:

    How exactly does it work?

You hold down L3 and select one of the zones to anchor the PCI. That is then the center of your zone for that batter (or until you adjust it again with L3). Really helps if you're always under pitches or can't get to inside fastballs your opponent spams.

    @joeselser_psn said in Night games:

I understand the kids are going to make their goofy fictional stadiums, but I'm willing to bet that the majority of the players that use this mode grew up in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. We want the ability to recreate the stadiums we grew up with. cookie cutters like the Vet, Riverfront. 3 Rivers, Old Bush, The Murph, and domes like the Kingdome, the Astrodome etc etc....

This is exactly what I wanted. Disappointed they didn't even add any new props. Night games should have been in last year, and that being the only thing added this year is a major L.

  • Worst commentary change in sports gaming history
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

I agree with the OP. Far fewer dialogue branches IMO and they don't even line up with what's happening in the game. I've gotten "he dives to try and save the perfect game" on a play right after a home run and "that's the ballgame" in the middle of a game. My last name used to be in the audio files and no longer is, so in RTTS I'm just called by my number.

A week in I've already heard the same comments a hundred times, very few non-generic lines even for star players. They definitely have taken a step back.

  • PCI Lock changed my life
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

My tendency for years has been to drop the PCI down to follow breaking pitches, but I always seemed to go too far and just be under pitches (especially fastballs). Being able to lock the PCI center up high or according to how an opponent is pitching you has been a game-changer.

My only complaint is I wish that you could set a default lock without having to do it for each batter.

Just to verify, stadium creator is kind of hidden in the cog icon (I think it says Create?) in the upper right.

  • Helton missing something critical
  • theronjvr_PSNT theronjvr_PSN

The Awards Todd Helton is a great addition to this Rockies fan's collection, but the source of his power is missing and it's crucial that it be addressed. Where is the Toddfather's glorious goatee? Much like the Romo naked face incident, this cannot stand!

The card itself shows him goateed, as does the action shot for the Event, but the player model is shamefully without his signature wide-bottomed goatee. Please address this in an immediate patch!

  • This new content blows!

@t-rox_09_mlbts said in This new content blows!:

You clearly never played '18. Talk about the emptiest, worst kind of grind. Playing the cpu on rookie 9 inning games because you need 700 k's, 900 innings pitched and 400 putouts by a shortstop. Worst game of all time.

I think of this all the time when people complain about moments. I'd much rather be player locked and only have to one game or series than those brutal missions from the days of yore.
