Call it a rant but this mode needs an overhaul. What I think it needs is a way to help out hitters. Maybe guess pitch option should be a thing? It is just too easy to pitch good and too hard to hit. Every game is just a complete guessing game grind fest that ends in bitterness when one player gets lucky enough to eke out a couple of garbage slap-hit seeing-eye hits or somehow hits a towering home run off a pitch nowhere near the zone. It comes down to whoever is luckier. Competitiveness is fine but we aren't pro baseball players and it is just too much of a grind. It's just not fun by its very design. And therefore ends up being a huge waste of time.

Also, to make things worse, why do I lose 8 straight yet have the same rating and still get mismatched over and over? I mean, come on.

Am I alone here? Or missing something that can actually make this anything other than an infuriating experience?

I agree tho. Team Affinity last year was hundreds of free packs on top of the free packs from the inning and daily. Now the whole program gives you like 10 packs to earn.

Team Affinity was the biggest reason I enjoyed the game; if we don't get something equivalent I will be a sad panda. Made it so much fun to grind.

WHY DOES MAKE ME HAVE AT-BATS AS A PITCHER IN A PITCHING BASED MOMENT... IN AN AMERICAN LEAGUE MATCHUP????

MVP Baseball 2005, which is now a 17 year old game, is still vastly better than any Show game, from a technical and design standpoint. It's really a shame there isn't any competition but we live in a monopolistic world now.

Even on its own right, the game is riddled with bugs, inconsistencies, technical issues and sub par gameplay.

The guy inferring someone has a "fragile ego" ran away and backed down when questioned a couple of days ago when a couple of people managed to swiftly invalidate his absurd arguments and double standards now keeps coming back to continue to jab people. Maybe if you're gonna do that you can spend some time addressing all the points/questions that were levied on you that went completely ignored?

Maybe the narcissistic protectionist has some pull or it's just a coincidence that my new account (RagahRagah) is for some reason banned. No warning, no reason, nothing. Just banned. Perhaps this one will follow suit. Whatever. If someone wants to give me a warning that is fine but mods with a complex who like to operate with personal bias is nothing I'm not already used to.

People have different accounts because you can link accounts from various systems to your Show account, and I have the game on 2 systems so I'm not sure why Bob is acting like having 2 accounts is suspicious. Like it's some sort of gotcha. Dude is trying to dig for reasons to make people out to be more pathetic than he is.

Because it is painfully obvious The Show is mediocre but played because there are few, if any, alternatives. Trying to deny the franchise is extremely lacking and holding water for it is just silly. The fact the game didn't even get a (long overdue) visual makeover for next gen is a joke.

I'll never understand people accepting things being sub-par. The old, stupid "If you don't like America then get out!" nonsense rationalle when anyone suggests things need to be improved, lol.

I honestly think the frustration people seem to have with the OP is that he seems to be VERY active on this forum. He seems to comment & post on almost every single post on here. Like he checks in on here multiple times an hour. It does really bother me how when you complain about stuff people just tended to deflect. We all love baseball and want The Show to be good, but the simple fact is the series is a huge mess and has been for some time. There so many glaring issues with this franchise it's inexcusable. Well. There are baseball games from 15 plus years ago that still play better than this franchise.

Yes. But when you do conquer it it feels amazing. It rarely happens for me but I managed to do it during Double XP week and therefore 4th inning was the first inning I fully completed.

How is this series a "huge mess"?...What are the "glaring issues" are you referring to?

The fielding is still awful and looks unnatural. That's #1 with a bullet. Baserunning AI is absolutely abysmal. The PCI is an extremely flawed system by design.

Constant server issues. Lack of original animations for most characters. Inconsistent results on contact zones. Bizarre facets like pitchers batting in AL games. Etc.

A lot of these seem minor but many make the game CLEARLY inferior to baseball games that have been around for over a decade.

To try to pretend The Show isn't just a dial-in at this point is silly.

No one wants to play pitching duels. Its a good game, but online play is unenjoyable, and with all the other stuff like fielding animations, bunting, hrs off poor pci while you are squaring up warning track shots, I'm just done.

This community has been awesome. I'll pop in every now and then and hopefully see that they have fixed hitting, or slowed pitching down. until then, it's been fun.

And you're only describing a sliver of the massive problems plaguing this series.

Who decides to have pitchers batting in AL games (and in Moments where batting has no bearing on the goal)?

There is certainly no shortage of questions on "why" where it pertains to this series.

I played 2 ABs in an events game today. The pitches went from the hand to the catcher's mitt with no graphic depiction in between. Essentially invisible pitches. I don't know if my opponent would have experienced the same because I decided to bail on the experience early, but honestly I've experienced far too much like this in online play. It's rubbish. I do enjoy playing the game, but the online experience is not always as much fun as it could be and I hope some attention is directed that way, eventually.

I think I forgot to add how much stress is added by lag issues.

I watched a bunch of the tournament games on twitch this weekend (while watching football on the tv) for the drops and what I saw from the elites confirmed what I have been seeing myself, gameplay is an absolute disaster right now. More bloop hits than line drive hits, zero pci home runs (reb had a terrible one against Weens), terrible baserunning (runners diving back to the bag on 2 out liners, etc), and obscenely op pinpoint pitching (especially with everyone exploiting the pci limitations that Mcgunski showcased).

We are at a point (since this is 2 years in a row of bad gameplay) where it is clear the game has moved beyond the abilities of the current gameplay team to fix and new programmers are needed if we are ever going to get the quality of gameplay to match the (amazing) quality of content. I can only imagine the fallout if someone wins the tournament on a zero pci home run.

It's absolutely unbelievable how bad the AI, fielding and glitches still are in 2021.

2009 I was a 6 year old so I didn’t get to stay up and watch the full game. Ironically enough, 2010-2011 was around the years I started watching every Yankee game. I’m now 18 and haven’t gotten to watch my team win a World Series.

I remember Billy Crystal on the Late Show years ago harping on how world series titles belong strictly in New York and some other nonsense that really highlights how entitled Yankees fans are. I'm not saying every fan is and can understand the OP's frustration but he is super young and has plenty of time to see a team that makes the playoffs virtually every year win a title. But yes, Yankees fans are absolutely spoiled.

And 2005 was the year you are thinking of; they lost to the White Sox and AS a Sox fan, while we are on the subject, that was pretty much the biggest highlight of the White Sox EVER, let alone in MY 35 years on earth; another team with a pathetic history.
