The short miniseasons kind of makes the stats pointless anyway. 11 games is like a dozen at bats for people at the bottom of the lineup.

Ideally there should be accurate mini season stats with a toggle to show general offline stats

The second half of this is false. XP is near identical between inning 2 and 3 so far. Cornerstone is the same, spotlight is the same. XP missions are less but there is a conquest to make up the difference. Excluding the online mission its 54K. Most people got a bonus 20k from carrying over Witt's mission.

An extra 7500 for the online mission, and 30k if you want to spend 60-120K

This was all true last inning, minus Witt. It fell off a cliff after other than multiplayer/events

But all this out of 400K is obviously better than out of 500K

It was nice that they put that in there, but wasn't enough for me to play. Brought the prices on Vic and Bernie down though so grateful for that.

If I'm not in the mood to play online its never fun, but when I am in the mood the games have been actually pretty decent this year.

In the past when xp is undertuned for an inning they have corrected. Lets see what Friday is like.

But as people are saying its not like the xp path feels that rewarding anyway. Rewards are a little better this inning with more deluxe packs, but then you are likely to just get the low tier cards you already have. Why cant we have a mid round+ pack?

Last inning there was ~150k xp for playing online between ranked, event, and bonus missions. If any offline only player got to 500k they either saved xp from inning 1 or played over 100 hours.

XP is higher for playing online too, but probably negated to a degree by games being much longer.

I don't think you want a Salary Cap mode, because in NHL, it's been a nightmare, as we entered Season 5 the same day of the 3rd inning here. I was so disappointed that I looked around the path, then went back to NHL.
They did just release 97 overall captains that contribute 50 million to your squad's cap, but it's been a struggle all year. Maybe it could be done differently, and better in MLB ironically, since the real life sport doesn’t have one!

NHL's cap is convoluted and applies to almost everything in the game, even the offline stuff.
Which doesnt mesh well with the main gameplay loop being designed around swapping in program cards to get stats.

The flip side is its actually a way of doing what The Show tried to do with the expiring cards without actually having expiring cards.

Also the NHL UI makes The Show look smooth.

Never understood this take. Lets stop releasing content until what is almost certainly a different team fixes bugs!

Although if I could get 10 packs plus a ballin plus work towards a deluxe pack by playing a 12 team conquest map I would do it over miniseasons specifically because of the stats, so it definitely annoys me.

This is what Ive been saying since since inning 2 last year.

This version of innings is a massive downgrade from what we had with seasons.

Salary cap mode would get me to play online more, provided its matchmaking was similar to ranked.

I know some disagree, but I feel very strongly that this shouldn't award a lot of experience. It encourages you to play in a cheesy way. Which if you find fun more power to you, but too much of the game is centered around hitting HRs as it is (foam finger goals, 400 TB ranked track, etc)

Having xp tied to content is actually a good thing, since pxp already handles the performance aspect. However it needs to be both repeatable content and not rationed out so tightly

The majority of the player base has no way to win these cards. Silver is the first time a pack appears and its at 6 wins. Good luck.

XP is the same as last inning. Less xp in the missions but we have a day 1 conquest to make up for it.

However, most people saved Witt's xp Im sure

That’s up to you. What’s your goal?

If you want collections, grind miniseasons. The best repeatable rewards we’ve had in a long time.

If you want to build PxP, play CPU games (although many seasons works for that as well, but sometimes you want to use certain cards to get better packs).

If you want stubs, do DQ.

If you just want to play, do any of it.

And the beauty of it is that no matter what option you choose, you’re gaining XP along the way!

And if you want TA go make a new PSN account and play 21/23

Tough to know without seeing the content this inning. I'd much rather they just gave more xp out, but the lower requirement is better than doing nothing.

Rewards are a bit better, although why there are single show packs late in it is a mystery to me.
Soto should be a Nats card. And honestly Lindor should be Guardians cards because Lindor will get his chance for Mets cards. But the orange Awards art looks nice so Im not complaining.

Its weekend classic week. Cant have anything compete with weekend classic

I repeat my stance that the having WC start an inning instead of end an inning is ridiculous

In Lindor's defense he had multi hit games in 5 of the last 9 before he got hurt (including 2 HR). His final numbers the last 3 years are [censored] consistent and he still provides great defense. He is the type of player that maybe shouldnt get movements based on a 3 week easily predicted slump.
But he probably should have started the year as an 88/89 and no one would care if he stayed there.

Looks like last year

6 DQ maps (excluding starter)
3 Mini seasons
18 conquest maps (excluding starters), but 4 of those were city connect

This year we have 3 DQ (excluding starter), one of which is essentially a second starter
4 Mini seasons
10 conquest maps excluding starters

Note that people were still working through the bite sized TA pieces available, as it devolved to Hits/Hrs/Ks a bit slower last year. Also some of the programs took a bit more effort but still not much grind

At this point last year the big complaint was lack of good repeatable content outside of DQ so they dropped 3s map in mid may (not included above). Offline content wasn't great last year early on (unless you liked DQ), it picked up around the all star break when mini seasons became much more frequent and the draft map dropped

2026 had an amazing launch but the period in between new threads and cityscapes was awful. Getting a decent sized conquest on an inning drop is a start right after Witt program, lets see what the rest of the week brigs

They didnt even touch Lindor or Raleigh. Soto at least they tweaked his ratings
