The reason is because it is no longer PS exclusive. Exclusives tend to be SIGNIFICANTLY more customer friendly because it is the seller for your system. As MLB forced Sony's hand with that, they are now free to be scummy and you can bet Sony is squeezing SDS now.

First pack should have been lower for sure. Where Lou is. I'd be surprised if they don't change next season.
However, it should still be easy enough to get all 3 packs as NMS unless you chased Babe Ruth.

Playing rookie vs CPU home run derby should be the least optimal path and now it is. I suspect the order of best TA track gain is this:
Ranked
Event(if you can use TA bosses)
TA miniseason
Other mini seasons
TA conquest
Battle aroyale
Other conquest
Vs CPU -

Yep I'm an idiot. That is correct. I'll take it.
Yeah, regardless of anyone’s opinion of any other part of TA3, there’s no denying this is a positive. Makes me wonder if mini seasons is the way to go this TA (if you’re not an online player). Mini seasons is still the best source of repeatable packs, and now it’s easier to get vouchers.
All I know is that I definitely feel how much slower this TA has already been. I’ve played nearly nonstop since 2:00 yesterday afternoon, and I’ve finished 52% of AL central… that’s it.
Mini seasons seems by far the fastest offline method.
Should be between the four repeatable goals (saves, hits, division xp, boss xp) you should be getting at least 20k per 5 games pretty easily. And 15 vouchers for 45k xp over the season. With the part 3 boss missions giving 10k once each it wiill start to move fast once you get over the first 60k -
I suspect Mini seasons is at least as fast as S2, maybe faster.
If you stack a division you can do the 2500 s1, 1500 s1 bosses, 2 saves, 15 hits all at once. You should get all of those every 5 games or so for 20k. Let's say you take 25 games for the entire mini season, that's 100k. Plus you'll have ~15 vouchers for 45k. Now stack on the 40k for doing the first 4 s3 boss and you are almost there. So it's nowhere near as bad as people are making it. Vs CPU nerf, sure. Which is fine. Conquest should be similar to TA though, easier pitchers but tougher ballparks than TA. Conquest should not be lesser than TA.
I think people that grinded vs CPU are not at all the average player. Neither are the people that did exchanges. Those are the people most hurt by this.
Again, I still feel they dropped the ball big time with this update. Part 3 should be the fastest to get the cards, not the slowest. I think most agree on that.

One thing beyond visual though, I tried collecting a gold I didn't have already collected and I could not.
-
Visual bug. I got CC with less than 250 showing.
-
I actually like the saves missions a lot since I would say at least 75% of the time I can get a 4 out save because I play somewhat to my skill level.
The hits missions are too low for the exp given, however.
The bigger problem, by far, is IMO the bosses should be at 20k, 40k, 60k, 80k, and 100k. Put the choice pack at 150 and vault at the end. Get the players in our hands faster as the season is almost over.
-
Now that I have spent some time, I can give my feedback on this iteration. Sadly it's mostly negative.
on the positive side:
-The vault pack change, while should have been that way on day 1, does make them a lot more exciting to get
-99 CC was a nice addition o the collection that was unexpected.
-The changes to the TA conquest make it possibly worth doing now
-I know I'm in the minority here, but I like the missions for TA players. As a plus, they are the same so I don't have to remember if this guy is HRs vs hits
-edit: adding Mothers day conquest here. 10k stubs and the egg hunt pack was a reasonably rewarding conquestI wish that list was longer.
Negatives:
First and foremost: While I am not as down on the TA xp quite as much as most, the cards should have been front loaded in these tracks so people have more time to use them. I like the concept of this being a slower grind that is meant to be more passive, but that doesn't mesh well with this year's format. I t would have worked better with last year's.
Second, while the conquest map is better, it is still by an enormous margin inferior to the old model of 3 medium sized conquest maps meant to be done once each.
Third, the Battle Royale and Ranked goals penalise low skilled players significantly, and the former in particular already has an issue with being unfriendly in ways it wasn't last year. 4.5k xp and 40 hits are just absurdly high. The people that can get these dont need them, the track is already super fast for them. Further, the cumulative xp tracks were pushed back. This is a nonsensical move. And for ranked, the runs mission should have been left lower. It just feels like the increase here was randomly high.
Some other things:
-Why is there no pipeline 1 or classics 2 in then TA choice pack? Perhaps the latter is still coming but the former should have been there. As should fresh start and Easter. Seasons ending, let us get the lesser cards if we want
-The hits needed for TA offline mode missions are way out of balance with the xp rewarded.
-There really should be a new Mini Season with each TA drop, especially with the conquest being decimated.Overall an extremely disappointing drop. I'm personally not bothered by the exchange changes, I would never waste stubs on that, and I don't think it's quite as bad as the reaction has been, but it's worse than the 2nd which was significantly worse than the first. Not a good trend.
And the sad thing is other than the exchange thing, this doesn't seem to be related to Sony greed, this is purely bad decision making by SDS
-
As a timing hitter I have never once gotten a base hit off a ball in the dirt and I have a large sample size on that one.
I have, however, struck out on pitches over the middle of the plate with perfect swing timing
-
While I think the communication from SDS is inexcusably bad with responses to issues, comparing the game to Cyberpunk or NMS is some disingenuous nonsense.
-
250, bought a bunch of sub ~7k cards but not all of the cheap stuff.
BR + Season Awards + TA3 alone will get me the three packs now -

Not dead. But not being any casuals, other than myself, playing.
Last 4 Event games have been against opponents rocking a WS Icon, having 5-6 times more wins than losses in their RS record, and are fielding teams where the hitter with the lowest BA of the bunch is still batting .455
Again, Events are not casual friendly so you wont see many there. Why would I waste my time playing a mode that only grants progress for wins when I only expect to win 20-30% of the time?
The best place to play casuals, somewhat ironically, is ranked. You'll run into some in BR, but even with the changes BR is still a slog.
-
Then why is finding matches in BR and Ranked far faster than it was at any point last year?
Event mode is anti-casual, I got my 2 doubles for Easter and its doubtful I'll ever play it again -
All programs, mini seasons, conquests, etc - done
Ranked program - done
BR - 100 stars
Event - pretend this mode doesn't exist
LS - dont care for now, but I've stopped selling the LS diamonds I pull
XP - somewhere between Seager and Rollins
Collection - 250 (bought all Spring Breakout and Seoul cards, as well as a few Topps Now cards when they were cheap), still 11 pack golds I can get for cheap but can coast for the three packs now
Hyper series - don't care -

[censored] i was hoping for a Sabathia or Jeter 99. I'll go Henke first. I always take pitchers first, especially closers. With the way it was setup in chapters 1-2, 3 Ks with a reliever gets you 10,000 XP
I just don't see them releasing the most desirable legends for this first set of 99s in TA. Since this are hyper and not tied to a year they can also tweak the attributes as they see it to make this cards just pass the threshold from a 98 to a 99.
I am kind of expecting each card to have a weakness in some meaningful stat.
I hope I am wrong.
Last year we were used to cards that were much higher than 99s, I suspect these will absolutely be weaker 99s. Which Im fine with, I've been enjoying the low 90s much more than the everyone is Barry Bonds style of last year.
-
From a theme team weakness point of view Carter or Piazza makes the most sense for Mets, so can rule those two out. Diaz and Alonso already have s1 cards. My guess is Nimmo
-
I know Millers 2 OF games played will give him OF secondary, but it just seems weird to have 4 infielders in the same division. I feel this would have been a great spot for Bernie or Paul ONeil

At least last year we got a corresponding program for the "featured" card series I doubt we get a hyper series program
This is 2024, we dont do full programs in this version

It will be interesting to see how they do this. If they bury them deep enough in the XP path they become far less relevant.
Prediction: people will complain loudly about it
If they were smart they would have 2 at the start ant the other two unlocked by the time TA 2 part 2 comes out but I highly doubt its that fast
