I know it's not the biggest deal, but remember when The Show used to be the game that cared about the little things? WTH happened? When is the EA model of doing things going to dies?

@halfbutt_PSN said in Sliders for real:

I started out on all star (competitive) and after a few games went down to veteran. I use zone and pinpoint.

I still win the vast majority of games I play, but I just accept that at some point there will be a ten plus pitch at bat by the cpu with some random player, and I’m going to hit into three double plays per game.

Yes, the 10 plus pitch at bat happens on Legend too, but I also do it the cpu pitcher because it's much harder to make solid contact and good timing on Legend. It helps wear him out sooner and I can get to the bullpen earlier. It's kinda real baseball, but I get what you're saying that it doesn't feel organic in this game for some reason.

You should also start expanding the zone and I mean expanding where the shaded circle around the ball is out of the zone. You should do it more often too. 0-1 0-2 1-2 and even 2-2. On Legend, I'll throw out of the zone on 3-2 to some batters. If you were to move up in difficulty you'll notice the higher you go the CPU pitchers throw more pitches out of the zone. They're trying to stay on the edges as much as possible and they'd rather leave one outside than over the middle. It is how current baseball is played

As far as GIDP. You have try some hit and runs. If you're using the Hybrid presentation you'll see your manager give some signs when it's a good time to do so.

I would move up to AllStar and trying pitching around guys when the cpu starts hitting. Also, if you're pitcher is tired or lacking confidence in his pitches, the cpu will start pitching.

One more thing... I don't think it's going to make a difference with the problems you're having, but I think "competitive" is more for online play and "simulation" is more for Franchise.

@halfbutt - just curious what level you're playing on and what game style (simulation or competitive) are you using.

I'm playing Legend and simulation and so far I have an 8-2 record but I have the lowest batting average in the entire league. It's very weird.

Oh and what interfaces are you using?
