A lot of people want that word "perfect" to apply to the hitting result. It doesn't. It only applies to the process. The result just is what it is.
But like the other poster said, since you probably don't care about XP, simply adjust the sliders to make the game play the way you want.
I can absolutely appreciate a well-called game and prefer that to be the case, but I'm okay with a few mistakes.
But a bad umpire can change the entire course of a game, just because he's bad. I don't think anybody wants that, and some are so bad that you can't really just chalk it up to being human. Some people just suck at their job but you rarely have a million people bearing witness to it.

I was watching the Nats versus the Diamondbacks a few days ago. The home plate umpire, Benjamin May, was randomly calling strikes on both sides of the plate. It's not like they were close either, I mean they were obvious balls. He was really random with the top of the zone also. The batters started swinging at everything because they had no idea of what he was going to call.
So next day, he is the third base umpire. At some point, the catcher asks if the batter went around and May rung him up. During the replay you can see the batter barely moved his bat, and it was clearly a checked swing. That guy is horrible.
In my Nationals franchise we're playing against the Dodgers. Noah Syndergaard throws the ball behind Jamier Candelario, who is at bat, and he has to jump out of the way into the other batter's box. At that point, Candelario literally starts charging the mound. Will Smith jumps in front of him and Candelario is trying to shove him out of the way to get at Syndergaard. The umpire shows up and starts breaking up the fracas. Jamier is still pissed and he goes on and on for a while about it.
It was a pretty surprising moment.
If you're using pinpoint against the CPU, then yeah it's going to be easy. It's designed to be used against humans. Use classic pitching and allow the pitchers attributes to determine what happens.
If you still want to use some kind of meter, then turn down the human control to 3 and consistency to 2.
Also I think I've read that the competitive setting makes pitching easier against the CPU, versus the simulation setting. But I can't remember exactly what was said about it.

I'm okay with the changes they did make to scouting and prospects. Although it seems a bit complicated, looks like something new to learn, which is fine by me. As far as online franchise goes I have no idea how they could possibly make that work. Do you have to have a bunch of guys sitting around online at the same time? But if I actually cared about the online component I would just play DD.

I am amazed that people think that anything new will happen with franchise on or offline. The game hasn't even been released and people are already sweating over imagined changes that they think they're going to see in MLB 24. It's truly bizarre and a little pathetic.

I did spend quite a bit of time working on pinpoint, but I didn't like the mechanic. If the whole object is to put the ball where you want it and you can achieve that with analog, there's no point in messing around with pinpoint in my opinion.

I figured out an easy way to do the barbell training. Take the controller and hold it between your knees with the paddles pointing up, and the analog sticks facing you. Then hit the L1 and R1 buttons with your fingertips. The reps are pretty effortless if you do it that way.
Oh goodness - this really works! How wonderful of you to share this - thank you! That would have never occurred to me…never. Many, MANY thanks to you - I was extremely pleased when I saw the results of this technique…you da man!

I use analog also, but sometimes I think it's a little bit too accurate and not so much ratings based. But I don't like all the Stick manipulation you have to do for pinpoint
SDS doesn't listen to ideas or implement anything new with reference to the franchise mode. Gallons of digital ink have been spilled in making suggestions to them and unfortunately, it's a waste of people's time. I don't see that ever changing, either now or in the future because the new paradigm is to make money from diamond dynasty. Any effort they put into the game will go there.
And I know they use the line that franchise is based on legacy code, but there are plenty of other games written in legacy code that are fun and interesting. What they're trying to make you believe is that they've made the best game that they can based on existing code. Who exactly is supposed to believe that? Do you actually need some kind of new code to make franchise fun and engaging? They only trot out that legacy code thing to get people to shut up about franchise.
But people will continue to fantasize. I only play a minimal amount of diamond dynasty in order to get gear for my rtts player, but I do play a lot of franchise and I've made peace with the fact that it's never going to change. Which is why I'm never buying this game again. There's just no point. I'm not paying full game price for a roster update. I used to love playing the show, but I don't get that excited about it anymore. I'll fire it up every now and then just for something to do, because it's honestly not a bad way to play nine innings of baseball. But I don't need a new game to do that.
If you're mainly a franchise guy, there's no reason to buy a new game at this point because SDS isn't offering anything new. You shouldn't have to pay full price for a new playoff schedule, or removal of the shift. That should just be a patch.
It's hard to do, like almost random. I've done it exactly one time, but had lots of opportunities. There needs to be some other mechanic that lets you tell where the ball is going to land.

I don't think the game is bad from a playability standpoint. I mean it looks good and it plays well. SDS just doesn't know how to make it fun and they don't have any idea how to give it depth. That's kind of what makes it a bad game. They rely on diamond dynasty to carry the whole thing and the other modes don't get any action because they haven't been improved in 10 years.
