Each direction on the d-pad should show the next 3 batters (in different displays) and pitcher stats for both starting pitchers. Can you provide a screen shot of what you're seeing?
Can you select "options" while looking at your squad in DD once you use the work around to get in? Having the CPU generate your best squad should fix the issue.

Can you see the stubs but not purchase or do they not show up at all in the store for you?
You should have received 2 codes...one for pre-orders (from Gamestop) and one that came inside of the game's box. Have you redeemed both codes?
