Got a cutscene about being called the next Ohtani (okay, that's weird).Next game has me a DH. Finish the game, suddenly I have a save file conflict.
Extremely frustrating. This is some EA Sports-level stuff.
That is exactly what happened to my SP only Ballplayer.
They should add to your overall so you actually can see it. It was the same [censored] last year.
This is stupid. So you basically still have to make a 2 way player like last year but say you only want to pitch. Ridiculous because the same thing just happened to me and now I have to screw with my rookie season to try and fix it.

Is that 359 at bats in 96 games that your player has hit in, or 96 games that your team has played? The rule is that at the end of the season you need to average 3.1 at bats per TEAM game, meaning 162 games, not the amount of games you hit in. That means to qualify for a batting title you must finish the season with at least 502 at bats. If you hit 4 out of every 5 games, that’s 129 or 130 games hitting for the season, depending on the rotation. If you’re the ace then you’re hitting in 129 games, and that’s assuming you get no days off on the bench. If you get exactly 4 at bats each game you hit in, that’s 518 at bats for the season, which is cutting it close to the minimum. A day off here and there, a few more games with only 3 at bats as opposed to 5 or more at bats, and you might fall under the 502 at bat minimum. Check the team games played and divide your at bats by that to see what you average per game. If you’re under 3.1, that’s the reason. If you’re above 3.1, then it’s a bug that they should fix.
Team has played 110 games so far this season. I have played all 110. 22 of them as pitcher, the other 88 as DH or LF. I have 413 ABs. The Leaderboards don’t have me listed under Batting Average, on base percentage, slug %, OPS, or batting WAR even though according to my player card stats I should be number 1 or in top 5 of all of those. I am listed on the hits, AB (20th in AL), doubles, triples, HRs, RBIs, Runs, and stolen bases lists.
So based on that , all the leaderboards that require 3.1 ABs per team games seem bugged when you are two way player with primary as a Starting Pitcher. Would you agree?

Yes I think it’s the game manufacturing opportunities for you the get in fielding. Like when I’m catcher they pop up a lot too. What’s funny is they seem scripted. If you get a pop up foul as catcher and for some reason you don’t catch it, they will pop up again on the next pitch.

Yes you just have to deal with the time sink there. If you use Next Appearance it will screw you out of archetype progression and XP for the 2nd base program if you care about that.

Use the lead runner setting so you only have to control your runner when you actually can get steals.
The batting order seems mostly set by overall rating and power vs contact from what I can tell, also speed plays some factor. Overall seems the main driver though.

Like when you get on base do you pause and pick the Next Appearance button along the top menu.

Announcers also just said in the game I’m in that I lead in 2 of the 3 triple crown categories. If I don’t get my batting average up I won’t win it. Yet I do have the best BA in both leagues! Grr
Are you using the Next Appearance option from the in game pause menu? If so, don’t.
So now that I got an SP and Position playing archetype to 99 and most of the bugs have been patched, I decided to actually try the 2 Way player thing. The first season I got called up to AAA after AA all star game like about every time and then to MLB in second week of August. I was number 1 in SP rotation and played SP every 5th game. The other 4 games I would be DH the game before and after I pitched and LF my other 2 non pitching games. I’m 99 on all 3 of the loadouts for SP, LF and DH. All through the playoffs and World Series I started as you would expect a number 1 pitcher to start. Winning game 1 and 5 in WS as SP.
Second year so far same thing as far as rotating between games. One major issue I see though is that the game considers me a SP first so I don’t show up on the batting leaderboards even though I lead the league in hits, BA, HR I show up on none of those lists. When looking at leaderboards, I only show up in pitching categories.
Next issue was the HR derby. I don’t get to participate even though I lead the league in HRs. In All Star game I am starting SP so I guess not considered a batter for the HR Derby. All these little things kind of break the whole immersion factor of being a one in a 100 years Babe Ruth type fenom.
Hopefully the game will let me win the batting title at end of season.

The game caps at 120 fps on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. It caps at 60 for the older consoles.
MLB The Show 21 doesn't support 120hz(fps) on any console.
The maximum on any platform is 60hz(fps).
This is not correct for the Xbox Series X I can turn on my LG C1 OLED Freesync Information overlay and it clearly shows the game FPS running with VRR on between about 80 to 118.68Hz consistently. Once in a while for a fraction of a second it will drop into 70s. It’s definitely not capped at 60hz on the XBSX.
is there a big difference with 60 & 100Hz? I've always played on 30 and now 60.
30 FPS is fine for games without al lot of movement requiring quick reaction. You should see 60fps give you a much smoother experience. Over 60 you should see this even more. Personally I can’t tell much of a difference once it hits 100 to 120 or 144hz on my PC. But I’m not a competitive FPS player, they all seem to swear by the higher FPS. As long as I’m around 70 - 80+ FPS in action based games, I prefer details over getting higher framerate.
I can say with this game once I upgraded from my older non VRR LG E7 OLED to the VRR capabilities of the C1, batting seemed smoother with the synced framerate.

I watched the Tigers win in 84 live. 14 at the time. Still my second favorite Detroit team after the late 90s - 2000’s Red Wings. I got to watch all the major Detroit teams win championships live with the exception of the Lions. Even the USFL Michigan Panthers!
If the Lions would just win a SB I could die at peace one day! 
I don’t like the 2 way player thing being forced like it is. You should have the option to only pitch or only play positions with an actual secondary position. Also the 2 way player doesn’t even make sense with the archetype system. How can I be a golden glove SS one game to being a SP in the next game that can’t even block a weak ground ball right past my feet. Or that same SS that hits .350 playing SP in NL game that can’t hit for nothing on games where he pitches.
Your My Ballplayer has to be set to right handed or you won’t get the catcher option at the start of RTTS
You want base running on lead off running all if you need steals for the archetype. I get a ton of steals this way.
None of the sports games career modes right now are that awesome. NBA 2K is fun for 2-3 play throughs max. The VC grind sucks if you don’t spend $$. After one season it’s pretty much done with.
NHL series got better this year but it was so bad and untouched before it didn’t take much to improve it. Still has leaps to go. Madden career mode was somewhat better in 21 but just so scripted. Playing it once was plenty.
This is why I avoided 2 Way playing until I got diamond on pitching and position archetypes. Now I’m about to try it and see if I get the playing time I should all the way through the playoffs as well.
