    Idea for Reformatting Ranked seasons.
  • Serrato32_PSNS Serrato32_PSN

Have an actual regular season, and post season.

Regular season, in order to advance you must win 12 of 20 games. If you fail to win 12 within 20, you miss playoffs and have to start over. This advances you to divisional series.

Divisional series, you have to win 3 of 5 to advance

Championship series is best of 7

World Series is best of 7.

The maximum games played to win your world series is 39, least is 23. Thats a pretty average amount of games for most ranked season runs.

It adds a level of excitement, and would be a nice change of pace.

As far as variable difficulty levels, im open to ideas...but i would love the above format.

  • Wow.... Showdown 2. At least take me out to dinner first SDS lol

If you struggle with Program Showdown...perhaps you should maybe play, "Hello Kitty Island Adventures."

    It needs to be re-worked...

The current system of rating points is dated, stale, and unappealing to most of us. Ranked Seasons needs a shot in the arm. Here's my proposal

NEW REGULAR SEASON AND PLAYOFF SYSTEM

    • All players start in the regular season pool whereby you must win 12 out of 20 games to "advance" to the playoffs. As soon as you win your 12th game, you're in, and move on to a Divisional Series best of 5. (Rewards tiers based on number of wins, culminating with a Wild Card pack if you make playoffs).

    • Divisional Playoffs where you have to win 3 out of 5 to advance. You only play other players who are also in divisional round, unless a similar player is unavailable in which case you would be matched up with the next available. (Earns a DS Rewards Pack if successful)

    • League Championship Series: Same rules as above, best of 7 (Earns a CS Reward Pack if Successful)

    • World Series: Same rules as above best of 7 (Earns a World Series Rewards pack if successful)

NEW PITCHER SELECTION METHOD (No more Kluber/Newhouser every game)

Now, rather than choosing your pitcher, you have to build a staff. Once you build your staff, you lock it in. Your staff remains intact unless you move on or are eliminated. Voluntary forfeits allowed.

    • Regular Season: You build a 5 man rotation, and each man 1 through 5 starts in order regardless of opponent.
    • Division Series: You build a 3 man rotation
    • Championship Series: 4 man rotation
    • World Series: 4 man rotation

You are allowed to bring in starters for relief appearances at a severe energy penalty imposed on that pitchers next start. Relief appearance will feature that pitchers current energy level at decreased velocity and break.

    LINEUP CHANGES AND ROSTERS

I move for hitters to be moved in and out of your roster at your leisure, although Im very open to other ideas. The reason for the pitching restrictions is to implement more pitching variety into RS.

    NUMBER OF ENTRIES

You can repeat the season as often as you like, although you can only earn rewards once per RS cycle.

LETS START A MOVEMENT! KEEP THIS THIS POST AT THE TOP!

I was so excited for this MLB 20 because it was advertised that user input would matter more than ever. That's all I ever wanted; all I ever asked for. Perfect/Perfect was going to mean at least an .800 batting average, Good/Good would mean....and so on.

Turns out...the displayed outcome of user input was just randomized. Absolutely randomized. Good timing, PCI dead center....the game, "No it wasn't....Good/Ok." It happens again, and you think, ok, I gotta get better. Been playing this game since launch, half the time dead center PCI means Good/Ok. Perfect/Perfect PCI position's are completely random.

Another f'n RNG experience. You got me SDS. You F'g got me.

Yeah, better players are still going to have more success...I don't know what my record is anymore, something like 44-14 or something like that. Better player's will still win more games (I'm not even that good my records probably a little inflated). But I don't can't the negativity in here on anyone other than the programmers. When you see something is Clearly red, and the game says, "no it isn't...it's blue," people are going to get pissed off.

All I'm saying, for all those raging on these message boards...I understand. Those taking shots at the ragers. I get it. Understand we're here because of the way the game plays.

For the last three seasons I've collected the entire live series on the first day of release. There is no way to do this, other than to drop $1,500 on stubs, give or take. You get the benefit of playing with a stacked team against other rosters filled out with golds and a few diamonds. It's a lot of fun, but within roughly two to four weeks, the playing field will be leveled. And your advantage will go away, and you'll realize that you could have just waited to have the exact same team for significantly less, had you just waited a couple weeks.

This year, I'm opting out of the day one buy in. Although I said the same last year, I'm really going to try this time.

*Edit...I'm 41 years old, have been playing the show since it was on PS1. I've built a life where I could drop that money and not feel it. Please do not waste your money, or put yourself in debt to do this. It's NOT WORTH IT.

I don't mean this in any sort of disrespect or anything, what is your guys take on the cheating? I genuinely want to know.

As a Dodger Fan, I'll never forgive them for 2017. However, my anger is directed at that team only. I really like and respect Dusty Baker. I hate Altuve and Correa to the point where I refuse to use them in the show (I know that's petty, but whatevs). Everything that group said about the situation made it worse. I have nothing against Astros fans.

If my team wasn't robbed of a World Series, I'd have long since been over it.

  • How do you feel about mlb 20 right now
  • Serrato32_PSNS Serrato32_PSN

I'm sorely disappointed in the gameplay. Fielding has been a disaster all year. Random outcomes suck the fun right out of it. Online play is worse than it's ever been. I expected better. We'll see what PS5 brings.

Say you dont quality to advance...do you still get somekind of reward in your scenario?

I'm thinking reward scenarios would be as follows:

Regular Season Failure to make playoffs: Separate tier rewards for 5 wins and 10 wins. (Silver cards or something akin to current pennant race rewards.

Making playoffs: Maybe you get a gold card?

Playoff Rounds, You don't get the reward if you don't win the series. And when you do, Division Series, Championship Series, and World Series earns rewards similar to what we already get for those levels in Ranked Seasons.

  • Saving Events Lineups
  • Serrato32_PSNS Serrato32_PSN

This used to be a thing up until 2017 when they changed it. The logic at the time was to prevent players from taking advantage of roster updates that would alter player ratings and allowing you to continue with a team that wouldn't otherwise be eligible....but who effin cares.

This is stupid. Anytime there is a ratings limit for event lineups I just don't play. It takes me 10-30 minutes to find a lineup I want to roll with to comply with the rating limit, and have to remember what I did to recreate the lineup every single time I restart a run, its just unnecessary.

TL;DR: Bring back saved events lineups.

Don't. Playing events right now and I hit the ball to 1st and the game froze. What a complete joke. SDS is pure trash...

This is why I've been playing '20 lately. No freezing. I hope SDS reads this. They've lost a customer for all future products they make over the joke that is MLBTS 21.

    See you next year betch.

if you want arcade baseball go play slugfest or mario baseball. MLB the show has always been a sim style game having batting averages of .400+ up and down the lineup along with 5+ era's is not actual baseball. Yes mistake pitches should be crushed, yes hitting should be fun & rewarding but the same way you find 6-5 games boring I along with alot of ppl find consist 15-13 games boring because it's not baseball the sport the game is trying to simulate. There should be a medium

Actually, 15-13 games are pretty common place. All last season ( and really the last 8 season) everyone was saying how the ball was juiced. Forcing a simulation where every game is 6-5 is not baseball.

  • Capture stronghold on or before 3rd turn?

Are you watching the Japanese baseball league?, 15-13 baseball games aren't a common place in MLB, stop speaking out of your [censored]. The patch upsets noobs and casuals I get that but don't you guys rage quit on the game....learn to hit!!! get gut!!!

No, I"m not speaking out of turn. I played baseball all my life, at every level, including professional. All my career from little league, to high school, through college to the minor leagues, 2-3 run games were rare. 3-4 homeruns a game is par for the course. Video games should be fun. I've played the show since 1998 when it was just called MLB. Nerfing hitting to honor percentages at the expense of user input is stupid. I was so excited about the perfect perfect thing this year. I haven't even played yet with the new patch, but if hitting resembles anything from 2019 or 18, what are we doing?
