I'm gonna try to address this as respectfully as I can because that's how I mean it. I'm not going to come here calling you a shill or anything of that ilk.

the community is becoming one of the biggest problems with MLB The Show.
Yes and no- On one hand they do more or less an adequate job of communicating with the community when they want to and we need to accept that they could be doing their best, and sure that's to be applauded at times. On the other hand, consumers are 100% absolutely allowed to be unhappy with what's become a lacklustre product over the past 3 years. Is there a ton of negativity? Yes. Is most of it deserved? I lean towards yes.

We have toxic content creators who complain about almost everything, encourage people to exploit glitches
This is the bigger problem than the community at large, IMHO. Because unfortunately, these guys (streamers) are the minority that SDS listens to. It's not unique to SDS either, EA has the same problem with it's sports franchises as well.

We have people harassing SDS employees on X
This I have a real problem with- this is unacceptable, but doesn't represent the community as a whole. At least I really hope it doesn't.

leaking content and ruining surprises
I don't see this as a bad thing, honestly. Mildly irritating? Sure. But spoilers have been a thing forever in gaming.

And I doubt most of the loudest people complaining have any idea what actually goes into building, launching, maintaining, and fixing a video game at this scale
The average gamer? Probably not, but some of us do understand coding etc and know that certain things really can be fixed fairly simply if they just cared enough to do it- and I think this is where the frustration comes from.

there’s a big difference between criticism and acting like every issue is some personal attack on the player base.
Absolutely...but there's an issue there: There's a handful of people, whether it's here or the reddit sub that attempt to gaslight posters by claiming that. Basically, they'll attack the poster claiming it's not a valid complaint and that they're just p!ssy about XYZ. There are a lot of posts with very valid criticisms here, and there are that are truly just nitpicky whiny things.

The reality is, hundreds of thousands (maybe millions?) of people are playing this game and enjoying it.
Absolutely, I agree. Maybe not millions, but I agree.

It’s still a great game
No, it's really not (this year, at least). This really is a pretty bad release.

But the loudest parts of the community make it feel like everything is terrible all the time.
I agree, but much of that is warranted and stems from the lack of communication/acknowledgment from SDS. There's little things SDS likes to "sneak" in without mentioning it. Like cutting in game XP in a half a few years ago- they basically ignored everyone asking if something was wrong, or if it was intentional. This year, the one that really stirred the hornet's nest with a good portion of the player base was the implementation of the card cap. That was a big one for me because I go NMS most years outside of a $10 stub purchase to help kick off my initial investments. They 100% should have mentioned that pre release, but it was deliberately withheld because I think they knew it would affect their sales.

This community could be so much better than it is right now.
I agree...but so could the game. Two wrongs don't make a right, but SDS needs to make a better product to silence the masses. There will always be people who find things to complain about, always have been and always will be. But creating a better product, would basically solve a good portion of the community issues.
Hell, I'd be on board with them skipping a year if it meant they'd work on things and put some more polish and shine into it from the ground up, improve the stadium creator, work on content, cleaner animations, weed out all the small things that can add up like Constructicons into one big issue (shimmering jersey glitch in the Paul O'Niell moment, for example), outfielders being able to cleanly field a ball after it hits a wall 40 feet past the fence, yet somehow stays in play- things like that need to be weeded out.
Hope this wasn't overly critical of your post, just trying to add counterpoints to the discussion
