If You Fly a WS Banner and Bunt With Every Batter...

In an event game and can't cheese your ways to runs, then intentionally cause a freeze off after grounding out with Awards Harper, you are the exact definition of toxic.

  • Online Games Are Rarely Decided By Skill
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

More games are decided by poorly timed swings than anything else. We've all been victimized by the very late swing bloop parade or very early swing dribbler through the middle so many times. I am convinced there is a higher probability of a hit when swinging very early or very late than when you line up the PCI in the yellow with good timing. In essence, the worse you are at hitting, the more hits you will likely get. That's terrible programming. Very early and very late swings should result in hits no more than 5% of the time. Currently, it seems like they are hits about 50% of the time. This takes a lot of fun out of playing the game online when you aren't rewarded for good swings and you're opponent is rewarded for really poor swings. In my opinion, this is the #1 thing that needs fixing. I don't need to win every game to be happy -- I'm fine if I lose because someone is squaring it up, but when most losses happen in this manner, it gets pretty annoying. The other thing that needs fixing is greatly reducing loud contact on pitches way out of the zone. Loud contact on those almost never happens in baseball. If you swing at a ball a foot inside, you should only make good contact 1% of the time regardless of your timing or swing placement. I'd like to see them institute a significant contact/power penalty for swinging at pitches far out of the zone.

  • Online Play Is Just No Fun Right Now

Which is a shame. I torture myself to get the BR and event rewards, but I think I've had enough. There's only so many glitchers I can deal with. And the perfectly timed very late swing for bloopers every AB that so many people have mastered the art of while I'm power swinging with 100+ power and getting good good cans of corn on balls hit directly in the middle of the PCI. If this update doesn't change anything and the bosses are blah, I might be hanging it up early this year. I completed the live collection for Chipper (which was the least exciting live collection reward ever) and I have no interest in 99 Rivera even though I need only 6 42 series cards for him. 99 Jackie is a nice card, but it does nothing for me any more.

I know they say they don't force you to play online, but they do if you want the event rewards. I'm a long time player and pretty good at the game, but lately I'm not having any fun online. Single player is ok, but I'm not a moments fan even though I do all of them. I like the conquest maps and run out theme teams to make things interesting. But, after grinding this game for several years, I might finally have had enough of it. It's always been my favorite game to play, but something needs to happen to keep my interest at this point.

  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

Basically, looking for a way to prevent playing bunt cheeses, baserunning glitchers, chronic pauses, etc to improve my online experience. That way, I'd only have to deal with their immaturity once. Even though I usually win against them, I'd like a less annoying experience and would rather play someone who plays the game like it's meant to be played.

And the community that plays this game makes it even worse with 90% of players trying to take advantage of glitches in the game instead of playing the game the way it's meant to be played. For the last 2 weeks nearly every opponent I've played has decided that bunting, constant running (even when no one would run like man on 2nd and grounder hit to 1st, 1B steps on bag for out, runner continues to try to take home). I beat these fools way more often than not, but it is a miserable experience. I come to play a baseball game. These guys depend on squeeze bunting to try to score. It's pathetic. SDS needs to fix it so someone rarely wins using these tactics. It seems the community at large has decided it's better to try earning cheap wins by bunting and running than swinging the bat. That's not baseball and it stinks for those of us who want to play baseball. I have no respect for those players and they take all the enjoyment out of the game. I don't care if I win or lose. I just want to play a baseball game, not some bunt/run fest that doesn't resemble a real game.

  • Every team in the Event has GOAT bat?
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

Looking for exploits is playing the game? I don't think so. I win 2/3 of my games without looking for exploits. Some of us here are looking to play real baseball and not solely defend constant bunting and running. I never said opponents were very successful at it against me. Relying on exploits is cheap and pretty pathetic. But, hey it's apparent you do that yourself and I've touched a nerve. Keep being cheap. I'll be classy. Cheap wins aren't my style and I'm proud to say that. You can't say that obviously. It must be miserable to live a life where you have to try to exploit the game to win.

  • Every team in the Event has GOAT bat?
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

I'm not salty. I do play bunt defense and these guys just bunt constantly. Bunting is part of the game, but not where everyone bunts. Stealing is part of the game too, but not everyone including slow catchers run on every pitch. You missed the point. People don't want to play the game right. They look for exploits instead because they aren't good.

  • Every team in the Event has GOAT bat?
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

I guess I could have it then too since I'm over prestige 65 with Mantle, Trout, and Polo. I didn't realize it was that easy. Whatever. I won't use it. The way people play still disgusts me.

  • Every team in the Event has GOAT bat?
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

Ridiculous. Pretty much every game I've played the last 2 days has had the GOAT bat. And in almost every one the opponent has bunt cheesed, attempted to steal with every opportunity, and has had ridiculous lag. Coincidence? I don't think so. Smells like a bunch of cheaters desperate for event wins if you ask me. I've won at least half of those games, but the way this community plays online is despicable. It's actually pathetic that people think that's how the game is meant to be played. Way to go SDS for encouraging the use of such tactics that cater to the shortcut, instant gratification, not willing to work and actually earn anything with dignity generation.

  • This Is Why You Don't Sell Off Any Cards You Get Except For Duplicates
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

I completed live series a couple months ago by selling my duplicates and saving up for expensive diamonds if I didn't get lucky enough to pack them. The game gives out tons of packs. I've probably opened thousands of free packs this year through just playing the game. I probably opened 50+ today alone from various rewards. I don't buy any packs with my stubs. I did pull Belli twice in 3 days when I needed him as 1 of about 4 or 5 players left as I was closing in on completing the collection. I remember pulling Sale and Lindor early on which helped when they were fairly expensive. I've pulled a good amount of diamonds but nothing I would consider crazy luck other than 2 Bellis in 3 days. I've opened up a ton of packs and the ratio seems about right. I completed teams one at a time and divisions one at a time for the most part so I could receive the stub rewards quicker and help offset the market cost of the next team. You don't have to rush through anything -- I just kept my process efficient by sequencing my collection rewards properly.

  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

With no money spent and without wasting time flipping or investing, I was able to get 99 Trout within minutes. I started with a bankroll of 420k stubs before the collection reward was released. I needed to buy 3 prospect cards, 2 postseason cards, and 1 award card to get 99 Trout. I now have over 620k stubs. I also have every single inning boss from this year. I share this only because so many people spend so much time flipping and investing. I did that last year and it was miserable. So, I decided I wouldn't do that at all this year. While I don't have many headliners, BR rewards, WS rewards, or TA2 or TA3 cards (I will not buy these -- I like earning them and don't do exchanges except for the non-sellable cards from the team specific TA packs. Plus this gives me something to continue working towards throughout the year and a sense of accomplishment when I unlock the reward cards and move up TA levels. Plus it gives me a reason to use different cards from each team) I do have a complete live Series collection and Trout collection with many other fun cards too. Needless to say, I'm very happy and content with my card collecting strategy this year. And if they release another collection later, I'll still be in great shape.

And Rivera hadn't given up a run in about 20 online innings to that point. I don't think any pitchers are reliable online. The outcomes are totally random. And who made you king of the forum, Mr. Perfect? Get off your high horse kid.

  • They Should Make Offline Events and Seasons
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

I think you can take the same exact concepts of events and RS and apply them to offline play vs. the CPU. Each new season or event would be added through updates and you would play against CPU teams built to meet those specific requirements and you would have a reward ladder to work through. Heck, you could even make each reward ladder a combination of online and offline achievements such as wins, stats, etc. I think adding these modes would add a ton of lasting gameplay and let those who are tired of online play step away from it without missing out on anything. It also would let you play online occasionally if you felt like it too. I think this setup would please the majority of players and reduce the amounts of complaints about the game.

  • Going Forward I Need To Have Zero Expectations For Online Play To Resemble Baseball
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

The only way I might be able to enjoy online play at all anymore is to go in with the mindset of only caring about racking up innings and stats. I cannot begin to think about wins or losses or expecting even a decent representation of the game of baseball. The way they have programmed this year's game is atrocious. It basically just generates totally random outcomes for hitting, pitching, and fielding no matter what you do and the game usually feels like the outcome is predetermined.

Where I go wrong is expecting baseball outcomes to happen in this baseball game and when they don't happen, I get extremely frustrated. Events are better than RS, but no online play mode shines. The play on All-Star online is the worst offender by far of totally random happenings. Unfortunately, the majority of online play you are stuck playing on All-Star.

I believe you can make a great baseball simulation even with a card collecting mode featuring players from different eras. SDS has not accomplished this at all with online DD play. While the amount of content and quality of it has been great, they have totally failed with how the game performs online. The worst part is that they force online play on you to prestige players, earn program stars from daily challenges, and earn unique rewards. If online wasn't required for all this, I'd rarely play online due to the state of online play. I only try to stomach online play to get rewards. However, I'd be much happier if online play was just an option, and you could do everything else vs. CPU. If this was the case, I'd immediately stop playing online to not have to deal with it's bugs and total inconsistency.

  • Online Play Is As Bad As Ever
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

Tonight in particular the game seemed very glitchy. I had a guy dashboard on me and it went to the queue so I won't get the win or those stats. Extremely laggy. Frame rates dropping. Pitches having a mind of their own going nowhere near where they are aimed with 99 rated pitchers. Fielders running away from the ball when trying to run towards it. Swing timing way off for both me and my opponents. Fielders running through balls. Just horrendous. Total dumpster fire. I still win a good amount of online games, but this is terrible. SDS has really dropped the ball with online play this year. It's no fun because this stuff happens so often. It's almost unplayable right now.

  • Prestige Stats Not Accumulating
  • rsetzer13_PSNR rsetzer13_PSN

This happened to me and I emailed SDS today with proof of it happening and 2 HRs I hit with Ortiz online yesterday. I had about 15 XB hits with Ortiz and it was reset to zero at some point. They responded to me within a couple hours. They couldn't fix the lost stats, but they were able to make it track properly again. They also dropped a bunch of packs in my inventory for the inconvenience. Things happen. I appreciated the timely response and thought they handled it the best they could. I also wrote a nice email, didn't demand anything, and just politely asked them to look into it. If you do those things, chances are most companies will respond positively to you. If you make rash accusations, complain, and make ridiculous demands, no one will take you seriously anywhere. People complain about SDS customer service all the time, but I found my experience to be excellent. Of course, I also approached the situation like an adult and not an unruly child like others have, which probably helped my cause.
