I think you can take the same exact concepts of events and RS and apply them to offline play vs. the CPU. Each new season or event would be added through updates and you would play against CPU teams built to meet those specific requirements and you would have a reward ladder to work through. Heck, you could even make each reward ladder a combination of online and offline achievements such as wins, stats, etc. I think adding these modes would add a ton of lasting gameplay and let those who are tired of online play step away from it without missing out on anything. It also would let you play online occasionally if you felt like it too. I think this setup would please the majority of players and reduce the amounts of complaints about the game.

When being late slightly jammed is more productive than being perfect perfect or good good, there is something terribly wrong. I also have noticed that when you play a team of all silvers that perfect perfect and good good are never hits. Meanwhile the silver team's continually bad input is rewarded with several early ok and late slightly jammed hits. I think that at this point the worse team you have and the worse you play, the better you'll do, because they've programmed it to favor "new" players.

I personally think if you dashboard quit you should be banned from all online play for 2 days. That'll stop rage quit dashboarding real quick. No penalty needed for properly done pause menu quits.

Wins do not equal enjoyment. I guess the instant gratification society does not understand that. I'd rather enjoy a game and lose than play somebody that is either trying to cheese or pretty much boost prestige player stats. I enjoy real competition -- I guess I'm in the minority there.

Tonight in particular the game seemed very glitchy. I had a guy dashboard on me and it went to the queue so I won't get the win or those stats. Extremely laggy. Frame rates dropping. Pitches having a mind of their own going nowhere near where they are aimed with 99 rated pitchers. Fielders running away from the ball when trying to run towards it. Swing timing way off for both me and my opponents. Fielders running through balls. Just horrendous. Total dumpster fire. I still win a good amount of online games, but this is terrible. SDS has really dropped the ball with online play this year. It's no fun because this stuff happens so often. It's almost unplayable right now.

With no money spent and without wasting time flipping or investing, I was able to get 99 Trout within minutes. I started with a bankroll of 420k stubs before the collection reward was released. I needed to buy 3 prospect cards, 2 postseason cards, and 1 award card to get 99 Trout. I now have over 620k stubs. I also have every single inning boss from this year. I share this only because so many people spend so much time flipping and investing. I did that last year and it was miserable. So, I decided I wouldn't do that at all this year. While I don't have many headliners, BR rewards, WS rewards, or TA2 or TA3 cards (I will not buy these -- I like earning them and don't do exchanges except for the non-sellable cards from the team specific TA packs. Plus this gives me something to continue working towards throughout the year and a sense of accomplishment when I unlock the reward cards and move up TA levels. Plus it gives me a reason to use different cards from each team) I do have a complete live Series collection and Trout collection with many other fun cards too. Needless to say, I'm very happy and content with my card collecting strategy this year. And if they release another collection later, I'll still be in great shape.

Just played a guy with WS banner, Prestige Level 49 who just played the most desperate way possible -- all lefty pitchers, quick pitching, slide stepping, running at every opportunity -- all for an event win. Of course he won thanks to a pitch aimed out of the zone with perfect release to Reggie that magically gravitated dead center and me not getting rewarded on anything despite the ball being right in the middle of the PCI (including Ellsbury with the bases loaded)... but, seriously dude, you needed to win that bad? Obviously he's a guy who can't handle losing at all by the way he plays. So sweaty. And he still needed SDS magic to win. Was it worth all the effort? I just don't see how playing like that is enjoyable at all. If you need to win an event game that bad, may the lord have mercy on your soul, because you must be one pent up and frustrated individual. I'm fine. I'll probably win my next game and my blood pressure didn't raise like yours did from pure desperation.

80% of games I played today in BR, RS, and Event have been on the road and in the rain. It is pathetic that people do this to intentionally cause lag because they know that's the only way they might win. I can't believe that SDS knows this and yet still allows it during online play. It totally ruins the spirit of the game. The number of players doing this also reveals that most of people that play this game online look for every cheat and exploit possible. I'm glad that I win more than I lose and NEVER resort to these tactics. I win with dignity -- a concept totally lost on most people who play online. Try it -- it feels better winning knowing you didn't try cheating the game.

And the community that plays this game makes it even worse with 90% of players trying to take advantage of glitches in the game instead of playing the game the way it's meant to be played. For the last 2 weeks nearly every opponent I've played has decided that bunting, constant running (even when no one would run like man on 2nd and grounder hit to 1st, 1B steps on bag for out, runner continues to try to take home). I beat these fools way more often than not, but it is a miserable experience. I come to play a baseball game. These guys depend on squeeze bunting to try to score. It's pathetic. SDS needs to fix it so someone rarely wins using these tactics. It seems the community at large has decided it's better to try earning cheap wins by bunting and running than swinging the bat. That's not baseball and it stinks for those of us who want to play baseball. I have no respect for those players and they take all the enjoyment out of the game. I don't care if I win or lose. I just want to play a baseball game, not some bunt/run fest that doesn't resemble a real game.

Just had 2 consecutive routine inning ending double play grounders directly at gold fielding infielders and both were booted leading to 3 runs. Also had a lightly hit chopper that went right through my first baseman who made no attempt to field it to start the same inning. I understand errors happen, but it seems to me that stuff like this comes in bunches way too often. Combine that with the awful pitching that makes perfect release irrelevant and it's easy to understand why people hate this game. Offline play is quirky at times too, but nowhere near as bad as online. I still manage to win 60-65% of my games online, but it's not very enjoyable. Especially when you play try hards and cheesers all the time. It's rare to actually have an enjoyable online experience with all this garbage. I only play online so I can get the reward cards. I get them every single time, but right now, I can't wait to get 1 more win for Bohm and then go offline to actually enjoy playing for awhile.

Just hit 2 perfect perfect with Ellsbury and Murphy in the same inning of the event game. Both outs that didn't reach the warning track. Then bottom of 1st opponent homers on a ball out of the zone with Ellsbury on good ok followed by Didi booting a routine grounder right at him...

That's pathetic. Just prestige the card normally. You don't have to ruin everyone's fun, because you are impatient. I have prestiged several cards this year just using them normally without robbing others of the enjoyment of playing the game.

I bee-lined and beat the Cubs on turn 1 on All-Star, then stole 2 fans from the Yankees on veteran (you need to steal 1 fan anyway), and on turn 2 beat the Yankees on All-Star. It's really easy.
You have 2 turns to beat the Cubs and 4 turns to beat the Yankees and you can always reset the map and do one at a time, even though there should be no need to do so.

Monthly Awards Chase Anderson pitched a perfect game with 14 Ks in an 11-0 win while Bo Bichette led my all Blue Jays lineup with 3 HRs! I've pitched perfect games before and it was only on All-Star difficulty, but that was really fun! I just figured I'd slog through another ho hum 9 inning game just getting innings in and a mission done. What a pleasant surprise!

Which is a shame. I torture myself to get the BR and event rewards, but I think I've had enough. There's only so many glitchers I can deal with. And the perfectly timed very late swing for bloopers every AB that so many people have mastered the art of while I'm power swinging with 100+ power and getting good good cans of corn on balls hit directly in the middle of the PCI. If this update doesn't change anything and the bosses are blah, I might be hanging it up early this year. I completed the live collection for Chipper (which was the least exciting live collection reward ever) and I have no interest in 99 Rivera even though I need only 6 42 series cards for him. 99 Jackie is a nice card, but it does nothing for me any more.
I know they say they don't force you to play online, but they do if you want the event rewards. I'm a long time player and pretty good at the game, but lately I'm not having any fun online. Single player is ok, but I'm not a moments fan even though I do all of them. I like the conquest maps and run out theme teams to make things interesting. But, after grinding this game for several years, I might finally have had enough of it. It's always been my favorite game to play, but something needs to happen to keep my interest at this point.
-
More games are decided by poorly timed swings than anything else. We've all been victimized by the very late swing bloop parade or very early swing dribbler through the middle so many times. I am convinced there is a higher probability of a hit when swinging very early or very late than when you line up the PCI in the yellow with good timing. In essence, the worse you are at hitting, the more hits you will likely get. That's terrible programming. Very early and very late swings should result in hits no more than 5% of the time. Currently, it seems like they are hits about 50% of the time. This takes a lot of fun out of playing the game online when you aren't rewarded for good swings and you're opponent is rewarded for really poor swings. In my opinion, this is the #1 thing that needs fixing. I don't need to win every game to be happy -- I'm fine if I lose because someone is squaring it up, but when most losses happen in this manner, it gets pretty annoying. The other thing that needs fixing is greatly reducing loud contact on pitches way out of the zone. Loud contact on those almost never happens in baseball. If you swing at a ball a foot inside, you should only make good contact 1% of the time regardless of your timing or swing placement. I'd like to see them institute a significant contact/power penalty for swinging at pitches far out of the zone.

Events are much better than RS. My level of enjoyment depends on how my opponent plays the game. If he's a cheesing, chronic bunting, constantly running, bunt dancing fool, then it is a miserable experience even though I'll most likely win anyway. I'd rather take a loss against someone playing real baseball than win against a fool trying to game the game.
-
I couldn't agree more. I'm totally with you on this. All those things defeat the purpose of playing and can't possibly be enjoyable at all. I'll also add bunting with every batter no matter their speed or if the shift is on to the list. How can pressing triangle 50 times a game be any fun?
-
Just played a WS guy starting Rivera so he could prestige him (I don't get the rush to do this... the card is pretty much the same prestiged or not) who bunted with every batter. After 1 inning, he quits. I win, but that is so dumb. Next game, another WS idiot starting Rivera in another rush to prestige employing super cheesy tactics offensively and defensively. Why are WS players so desperate and pathetic? I win 70% of my online games without playing desperate and cheesing. These guys make me want to play offline only. The best thing I did was buy Nascar Heat 5. It is refreshing to play a game without predetermined outcomes and people trying to game the game by cheesing or attempting to use every exploit possible. I have loved this game for years, but my enjoyment is zero at the moment. I am losing all interest in online play between RNG and cheesy WS players. It is sad that WS players, the so called "Elite", feel the need to cheese and attempt to exploit meaningless event games. For the first time ever, I'm contemplating not purchasing the game next year. I just decided I will not be buying NBA 2K in September for the first time in years for similar reasons -- it is no fun to play a game where poor shot selection with mastered timing mechanisms for contested step back 3s and button mashing for steals is rewarded. Neither game even resembles their sport in online play right now, and that is truly a shame. I play because I love the sports. When cheesy tactics, exploits, and RNG take over so much, I lose all interest because the game no longer remotely resembles the sport I'm trying to play.
