    Anyone else miss Team Affiny?

The year they had MtO tied to the long TA program was by far my favorite The Show of all time. This year's goes down as the worst.

Dude's swing looks like he's not even trying, like he's hitting fly balls for little leaguer practice.

Is he the only former player that can't be in DD?
Can't off the top of my head think of anyone else I haven't seen, other than borderline guys I used to be fans of.

After watching Bonds talk on the TV, I just realized I don't think I've ever seen a Barry Bonds card in DD. Roids (they had McGuire and Sosa last year)? Or licensing?

@xRatedGProdigyx_PSN Well yeah if you play a 9 inning game against the CPU you will get plenty of pitches to hit, I average around 5 HRs in mini-season games. There seems to be some sort of weird balancing system with the 3 inning games, score once and you won't see any more hitable pitches usually. Yeah if I work the count, foul off all the dotted pitches, I might get another one to hit, maybe score 3 instead of 1. I just hate that it's coded this way. I pretty much only play 9 innings mini-seasons now...Conquest is a boring slog now, DQ and Showdowns are rage-inducing, online is well, a bunch of "Ditka"s. I miss MtO, and Conquest being fun, but SDS (and the Online community) seem to want to drive the offliners away so...have fun guys next season.

Yeah, they get 2 strikes on me with dotted fringe edge strikes and then forget where the strike zone is for three pitches and then come back with another dotted fringe edge strike.

Plus they do this when they are silver/bronze with barely any red or completely exhausted. Yeah the pitching AI is absolutely stupid, complete overreaction to the year a few years ago where Rookie would throw just about every pitch middle just above center.

I don't mind challenging but instead it's just time wasting with very little reward. I don't even play much Conquest anymore because every game is 1 run/ 3 - 4 hits borefests.

So basically if they come out with content next week: Mission 1: Have 1 AB in any offline mode. Missions 2 - 10: (insert Online stuff offline & casuals don't want to do)...people would praise this being new and exciting?

  • Precisionist99_XBLP Precisionist99_XBL

I get the reverse argument that online players have to play offline stuff to unlock cards they want. There should be more online options for the same cards as well. Not every card...I know in the past I saw juicy cards in online-only stuff, but I was ok with that because I had plenty of stuff to do offline to get similar cards. The problem now is the offline content feels like a complete afterthought. Lots of hype for this Friday! Oh look, both Themed programs are ONLINE. New mini-season with 1 card reward with the same PXP requirement as all the other mini-seasons. New Spotlight with the same easy PXP requirement. I don't even look at Spotlight progress anymore because I know it gets done after a couple of games. I swear as an offline player who loved this game for over a decade I feel like SDS just ripped the money out of my hand then turned around and took a dump on it.

So tired of people saying "just play online, it's easy missions". Because that is entirely not the point. I wouldn't care if they had a mission that said, "have 1 plate appearance in an online mode". The POINT is that they are forcing it. Completely tone-deaf. You force a player to play a way they do not want to, they will move on to other games. Between an XBox account and a gaming laptop with a Steam account, there are way more options for my $70 next year. Just a shame there is no competition for MLB games.

As an offline player, I was sort of taking a lot of these death of MLB the Show posts with a grain of salt. Yeah this is one of the worst years in memory for content, but there is always complaining, right? Looking now at the June Countdown requirements I'm now on the bandwagon. I might play this one through the All-Star content as that has always been historically pretty good, but yeah this will be the last year I dump $60 to $70 for this obvious Online shift in the content.

@PAinPA_PSN The point is it's not about hitting the ball, it's getting hits. With the new MLB the Show 26 RNG the odds of NOT hitting right into an infielder, or the buggy new launch angle physics hanging your fly balls in the air where a guy in a wheel chair could run it down, and not having this happen 3 out of 4 at-bats is nearly astronomical.

I've gotten 2 hits by restart-scumming over and over, but the next two at-bats are always line-drives into mits or outfielders jogging, doing their laundry, reading fan mail, then finally raise their glove to catch that 40 degree launch angle hit where I'm 1 pixel under the ball.

Sorry but this moment is the poster child where "play OUR way or you don't get the reward" system is driving people away from this game.

If you are stuck in a moment and can’t get out of it, post here. Vent about it and watch it magically go away.

Paul O’Neil. Please just get 3 hits

LOL glad it's just not me. I think I've gotten 2 hits like 99 times now. I've basically given up on the card, just use the moment to warm up before I go into minis or conquest.

I play on veteran. I don’t play online at all.

And yes, I expect SDS to put enough offline content out there, so that if I complete it, I can finish an Inning path. That has not been the case so far this year.

THIS is exactly the issue. THIS is how MLB the Show used to be for offline players. We reject the ThErE's ToO mUcH NeGaTiViTy posts. We reject the "you need to adapt and play online" posts. We reject the "here's the efficient way to get xp" posts. We just want it like it used to be...put a reasonable amount of time into the offline content (with little or no need to repeat) and get the inning rewards.

  • How are you doing with the XP Reward Path?
  • Precisionist99_XBLP Precisionist99_XBL

In what universe does "less people should earn the inning Boss" make any business sense?

It's not about lowering the xp, it's the simple fact that if offline players complete the content put out in an inning they can still be massively short of earning the boss. This is the change they made from like every single MLB the Show in the past. This is what we are bitching about.

  • Which MLB the Show was best for offline grinders ?
  • Precisionist99_XBLP Precisionist99_XBL

I agree with the 21 & 23 post. I forgot which one had the TA connected with March to October but that's pretty much all I did in that one because it was so fun to try and mold franchises into playoff contenders in just a few nights, and actually get rewarded for it (TA completions, playing xp). I don't remember anyone complaining about not reaching the Inning bosses back then, and the following posts telling people to get better, adapt their playstyle, or grind harder. In fact I think the only thing on the boards was people bitching about online play after losing one game, I don't even think I looked at the boards much back then, no reason to.

  • How are you doing with the XP Reward Path?
  • Precisionist99_XBLP Precisionist99_XBL

@JDHalfrack_PSN Great post, but I think the point is it shouldn't have to be this way. Previous years you could play the offline content at a reasonable pace, have a variety of things to do, not even pay attention to the XP Path and then 'boom' oh wow I got the inning boss. Now it's finish the new content in an hour or two, then have to get back into the mini-season grind over and over (which I have done and still won't complete the Boss xp). It's just not fun for most people. TA was always one of my favorite things to do, I've already completed it this year by the 3rd Inning! (I'm talking about all the Jolt rewards not the stupid millions of Pxp for a few packs). Myself and I'm sure a lot of others are just apathetic now. We don't want to play online, we've accepted we won't get any of the boss cards, and we're bored of the cut and paste content.

Love the posts saying to suck it up and play online to get the rest of the xp for the Bosses. Thank you for making my point.
