I never played The Show before but I somehow advanced to the Majors with my 75 OVR SS by hitting about .265 with 19 home runs in AAA. Then I watched a YouTube video on improving hitting. I had no idea what the PCI was. I never moved the left stick and somehow still hit OK in college, AA, and AAA. Now that I know how to do it, it ruined my hitting. I had to lower the difficulty to Rookie and I can't manage to hit over .215. I can't stop myself from swinging at every low ball, especially off-speed. They all look like strikes. I ground out or make weak contact almost every AB. I never walk. Please help. I don't want to play the game on beginner... That's way too easy.

Zone hitting will take time to get used to. You may want to try a different type of hitting interface such as Timing since that seems to be what you were relying on without knowing about the PCI. Timing interface does not have a PCI and only looks at your timing and the computer will align the bat with ball in line with your contact attributes.

I'm learning it as well, takes a bit to learn but when you do you'll be a better hitter because of it. I finally made the switch from timing to Zone and I'm glad that I did

I remember this advice from somewhere else (I forgot who/where, so sorry I can't give the credit). It goes something like this...The best way to practice with the PCI is to think of it as a catcher's glove, and the swing button is a catch button. I know it sounds simple, but it sort of rewires your perception...follow the ball with the "glove" and if the ball is in the glove press the button to catch it. Fastballs take some practice but offspeed will become crushed hits. I'd been playing MLB the Show for several years but when I tried thinking in that aspect my hitting got a lot better.

I think this way of thinking helped me out because I was always pulling offspeed pitches before, thinking I'm swinging into the ball path, not understanding that the bat actually swings faster than what you would think.

@dap1234567890_PSN Uhg it would suck to go backwards. I think switching to timing only would be kinda like a guy in his third MLB season getting demoted to AAA. Ya know? Kind of an emotional hit 😭😭🤣🤣🤣

@Precisionist99_XBL Thank you, I'm going to try this. One thing I started trying when I played the game last night was use the batter's leg kick to start timing things up. As soon as he moves his front leg, I start moving the left stick. It is helping me time things slightly better but it is not helping me avoid swinging at LITERALLY EVERY PITCH in the dirt or 8 inches off the plate inside. I don't strike out that much because I have high 81 vision, but it's hard to make hard contact when you're always taking defensive swings at bad pitches because you're 0-2 or 1-2 in almost every AB.

Consider spending like 7 bucks on kontrolfreek precision rings. Makes zone hitting much easier. I also started this game in '24 using timing, and eventually switched to zone, and it took a while to get used to. Now that I'm used to it, I'll never use any other hitting method. Just give it time 🙂

@Jimmystick111_PSN 0 - 2 you are 90% of the time going to get a ball. It's even worse once you hit MLB, I've got more walks after going 0-2 in the MLB than I did in both AA and AAA.

@Precisionist99_XBL Let me tell you what my new strategy is that I tried last night for several games. First pitch im looking fastball down the middle and if I get it, I swing for power (square on PS5). It's a home run most of the time. If I don't get it, I take. If that pitch I took was a ball, then I automatically take the second pitch no matter what. I'm getting to 2-0 a lot more often than getting to 0-2. Need more time to test if it gets me more walks, but it is getting me into more hitters counts, which I like.

Situational baseball. Simplistically, you're starting to learn the actual game and not just video game baseball. MLBTS isn't perfect, but it does pretty well in teaching the game.

@Jimmystick111_PSN So I used to call pitch location low and sit high, but I reversed that last season and I feel it's better for HRs. I call the fastest pitch in the high zone, sit high during the windup then slowly move the pci down during the pitch. My worst pitch is right down the middle because I tend to pull down too far and get a pop up. I'll punish any pitch low in the zone (I'll watch the speed and try to "catch" it in the pci) but I also tend to swing too much on in the dirt pitches.
