I really hope they got rid of archetypes, as well. If we want a 99 across the board player in an offline single player mode, we should be able to grind that.

Wonder if you can pinch hit for the dh and leave him in
You can, but you won't be able to pitch with him.
You cant use the CP Ohtani as a hitter.
I've literally used him as a pinch hitter. You can't start the game with him as a hitter, but you can pinch him in.

I've gotten far fewer homeruns in my vs cpu games.

You can set your team up however you want. Imo, if there is a better card to use, then use it. The cool thing about the core cards is they will be good all year long. Set 1 cards fall off when set 3 starts.
-
If you got called up mid-season, you probably won't show up. You need to have 3.1 at-bats per team games played (not your games played, but the whole team's). Depending on when you got called up, you might not see yourself on there in the current season.

Whenever I have trouble hitting a dinger in a moment, I change the hitting to directional and hold up and towards the pull side. Just don't forget to change it back in the options.

WBC Glendinning plays above stats for me.

I'm definitely not hitting as many homeruns as in previous years, but I have been finding A LOT more outfield grass. Hits that would have been lineouts or flyouts in previous years are now singles, doubles, and on rare occasions triples. While my slugging has gone down, I would say my average is right on par with other years. Most of my runs are now manufactured instead of bomb after bomb. I'm digging it.

MLBTV still blacks out my Giants games. Personally, I don't think there should be any blackouts if I am paying for the service. My only (legal) option of watching The Giants is to get xfinity and watch the games on nbc sports bay area

My trouble one today was Mr October: Reggie "Can't Seem to Elevate the Ball" Jackson

It's about the process. You did everything right in that at bat with nothing to show for it, but somehow you need to covince yourself that it was a very good at bat.

It is not.

Whatever team affinity is, I hope we get the opportunity to earn all the cards involved instead of 2/5 of them like last year. That was such a cash grab. While most players will flip cards to get the ones they want, there are others that will buy stubs to complete those team collections like faces of the franchise.

Until I played The Show, I never realized how often...
Line drives were hit directly at infielders.
Late swings on inside pitches meant automatic pop-ups.
Mediocre outfielders made amazing diving catches.
Common pitchers could dot pitches right on the black.
There are throws in the dirt to first but a good scoop saves an error. (This one's a throwback)
What are some things you only realized after playing The Show?
-
I was looking at exchanges and just realized we can exchange mini season icons, uniforms, and banners for packs. Not sure if this was in last year, but it's nice to know I can actually do something with those items I won't use.

That's really cool. Freeman is another one of those players that does a lot of work with children.

For some reason, I was under the impression that if I met the requirements for captain boosts that the captain would boost my whole team. I guess they only boost the players that contribute to the boost. Kind of a bummer.

Yeah, I had a Giants bullpen with the Matt Cain captain and was hoping my other starters and my WBC Camilo would get boosts. I'm thinking pitching captains probably won't be for me, but hitting captains will come in handy for grinding team-based pxp for TA.
There are still some funky things you can do with a few. And when more cards come out it’ll be even better. Example I’m using the Nolan Ryan (+35 years old) card, and there are quite a few relievers you can sneak in with no real downside. Chapman and Kenley are like Prime versions of themselves lol. There is a 99 Darvish I have boosted to near god tier.
But the one I thought about last night was Halladay. The BB/9 and Stamina seems a bit unimpressive compared to others and for a started almost is.. But imagine a bullpen filled with them. Now you have heaters flying in with better control and you relievers go from 25 or so to 35 stamina. Again almost irrelevant for a starter but for a closer that is honestly a fairly large boost.
The Jeter card is fun as well because there are dozens of captains available. When others have as many potions as him I think it’ll be a great addition.
Yea that jeter card is sneaky a must have. I sold him early but realized that once they start realizing 99 captains you could build a booster all captain team. I bet his value eventually increase a bunch once that happens
Now that you mention it, I might have to pick him up, but something tells me we will be getting that captain pack all year.

Somehow I made it through the WBC showdown on my first try, but I am filled with anxiety every time I play showdown, especially when it is all bosses. I try to avoid showdown when I can.
