That’s great to hear! I have a small sample of playing. sinkers still appeared to come out of the hand as a breaking ball and I was swinging late on just those. I will have to learn to adjust. Thank you
Back in 2017 you couldn’t pry me away from this game. Was one of those take the release day off of work guys. Then as 19 and 20 started declining so has my want to play. 2021 I think really broke me but I love baseball and love this game.
This was the first year I didn’t preorder and planned to wait til the first price reduction. However we have a week of [censored] weather coming up, some personal stuff that I need a distraction from and my love of baseball I caved and bought the game. As the game was downloading and I play the warmup game while it’s installing I was very disappointed. It was the first time ever I felt like I payed $80 just for a roster update. I was three innings in and said to myself “I want my money back”. They haven’t fixed high sinkers, they haven’t fixed fouling off excessive pitches, and the CPU will constantly spit on a pitch that hits 40 percent of the black with a 1-2 count. I haven’t even attempted a online game yet but I’m sure the rubber banding and “everyone gets a trophy” aspect is still all there.
I really hope I’m wrong it just feels the exact same. I don’t want this game to die and I want SDS to thrive but I fear they will start losing their hardcore players if they keep this up. Hopefully I’m proven wrong and here’s to a good fun filled year for us all.
I’ve said it before but if the high sinker in this game was treated like a mistake pitch a lot of people would stop throwing it high. Instead you can crush a high sinker and it’s a lazy fly ball.
I really feel like 2017 was the sweet spot. I try to play daily but all it takes is one event game and I shut it off for the day. 2022 will be the first year I don’t preorder or play at midnight. I will buy 2022 but I will not be in a hurry to buy it and will play at my own pace.
My two gripes about the sinker is 1) it comes out of the hand like a breaking ball but snaps the speed of a fastball. 2) and this grinds my gears when guys spam it high and you are ready for it the high sinker doesn’t get punished like it should. A high sinker is a mistake pitch just like a high curve or change yet the AI does not treat it as such and many a times it’s still a ground to SS or 2B instead of a line drive etc.
If the high sinker was treated like a mistake pitch a lot less people would be throwing it.
It’s because the pitching is toned down. You’re not seeing DeGrom and Ryan every game. Also with quick count people are not paying attention to their stamina because yes you personally only threw 5 pitches but the quick count put you at 13. If anything this event shows us just how OP pitching and stamina is this year. I agree I actually have enjoyed this game online possibly the first time all year playing this event.
Perhaps they’re not often for sale because they’re locked in to unlock Griffey?
The ridiculous way pitchers can paint the corners for 9 straight innings has conditioned us to always look corners. When a mistake pitch does happen we are almost shocked and that split second fools us as we are not use to seeing that many mistake pitches in this years game.
It’s very predictable and tbh I usually get more upset after a win then I do a loss. What upsets me is the frustration of getting poor results on numerous AB once you get a lead. Have your opponent look clearly overmatched all for it to come down to the 9th inning and your opponent now can magically Jack homers and will always get the tying run on base. I hate that and majority I do come up with the win but the frustration of the clear BS allowing your opponent to even come close to winning makes me shut the game off for awhile.
One and only stat I would love to see is the amount of games ending by mercy rule from years 2016 to now. I guarantee it’s a sharp decline especially starting in 20. I remember mercy ruling or getting mercy ruled much more often then lately. Did we all magically get better and worse at the same time?
It’s basically what frustrates me the most about moments is hitting a HR or multiple XBH with the silver pitcher throwing CY Young caliber pitches. Pretty sure the reason Player X hit a hr was because he had a mistake pitch to hit. I realize it can’t be meatball after meatball but the way these [censored] pitchers sometimes accurately throw is a bit much.
Also hate when you do a vintage moment but the outfielders are current elite players like Buxton or Betts that run absolutely everything down. Pretty sure they had Heywood Jablowme playing CF with 72 speed and 65 reaction back in 1964 but that’s okay let’s have Byron Buxton track down everything hit in the gap instead.
Wasn’t it the first year of moments where they actually tried to be historically correct? Wasn’t it just a player with a number if they didn’t have the rights? Sometimes it can be annoying if you need a xbh and there is an outfielder with a cannon instead of a noodle arm but I’m way more annoyed with the pitcher on 1st obviously batting .600 in front of me.
On a freeze off right now. 1st AB I hit a double and then it freezes. My opponent must really want this event game bad as it’s been about an hour now.
The truth is I was on my lunch break and probably shouldn’t of started another event game but I was hoping for a quick win (lol). Since it froze I just put the controller down and now I am currently back at work. I figure since he had zero hits and I had a double with no outs I had the upper hand on who gets the W. Otherwise I would have quit the game.
Sox and Rays with Austin Meadows going 17 pitches and announcers are shocked and all I can think is “That’s cool but have you seen a silver cpu pitcher batting on rookie vs my 99 pitcher?”

MN has the longest championship drought out of all states that have all big four pro teams. The Yankees own the Twins in the postseason.
I found him easier to read this year but that FB is still good if your sitting off speed. I feel however is breaking pitches are always in the dirt and big looping breaks. Not a sharp break so those I feel are easier to read. With him sit fast and it’s easier to react to the off speed.
Early on I paid a bunch for Vida thinking he would be in my rotation for a long time. Trying to differentiate the FB and change was tough. He was so nasty. So I get him and he got hit around. Maybe I played a beast? About 3 or 4 opponents later and getting shelled I thought I suck at pitching. Then I finally faced him and was like, Oh. I immediately sold him. That deception is gone.
I have Chapman and can’t see any reason to put effort to parallel him. Just let it come naturally as what really do you gain with his stats already that you absolutely would want? His pitching stats alone make him a 99 imo.
I look for players to parallel that would propel them to the next tier. Like if a am two points from going from a gold shield to a diamond shield to get better animations. Otherwise I really don’t see the bother if my guy is going to go from 81 to 86 vision.
I enjoy the content and only a couple times thought “I have nothing to do”. I complain about moments as much as the next guy but after a few drinks moments is what I grind. H2H you need a clear sharp mind but to sit back and hammer out 7 innings pitched half buzzed is actually bearable.

Haha when Orlando Cepeda dropped I got him the first couple hours and thought I should try to 1/1 him. I started playing him and was 1/3 tier 1 and then 1/1 for tier 2 and thought this is absolutely boring and for what? So I quit that mind numbing journey and went on with my life.
Two weird things I noticed in this conquest. I started out and went right after Colorado and after taking their stronghold I stole 4m fans from Pittsburgh on HOF. I then made my way to Detroit and stole 3m fans and then beat Detroit for their stronghold. As I’m heading down to Atlanta I noticed Colorado is gaining fans and conquering my trail of 1s
WTH, how are they regenerating new fans when I defeat their stronghold and only had 1s in their remaining territories? Colorado was the only team to do that. Then to put icing on the cake my 7m fans I stole never registered. I completed the map 6/7 with zero stolen fans???
