Back in 2017 you couldn’t pry me away from this game. Was one of those take the release day off of work guys. Then as 19 and 20 started declining so has my want to play. 2021 I think really broke me but I love baseball and love this game.
This was the first year I didn’t preorder and planned to wait til the first price reduction. However we have a week of [censored] weather coming up, some personal stuff that I need a distraction from and my love of baseball I caved and bought the game. As the game was downloading and I play the warmup game while it’s installing I was very disappointed. It was the first time ever I felt like I payed $80 just for a roster update. I was three innings in and said to myself “I want my money back”. They haven’t fixed high sinkers, they haven’t fixed fouling off excessive pitches, and the CPU will constantly spit on a pitch that hits 40 percent of the black with a 1-2 count. I haven’t even attempted a online game yet but I’m sure the rubber banding and “everyone gets a trophy” aspect is still all there.
I really hope I’m wrong it just feels the exact same. I don’t want this game to die and I want SDS to thrive but I fear they will start losing their hardcore players if they keep this up. Hopefully I’m proven wrong and here’s to a good fun filled year for us all.

Except they did fix high sinkers, and outliers won't be as prevalent and will cause loss of accuracy for those P that have it.
And they made PPP harder on FBs, so if you're patient you can actually draw walks.

That’s great to hear! I have a small sample of playing. sinkers still appeared to come out of the hand as a breaking ball and I was swinging late on just those. I will have to learn to adjust. Thank you

Really? Not my experience with sinkers

17 was the last year of the 99 scale for DD, can't be a coincidence that it's the last great version of the game. Not saying some of the versions since were bad, although 18 was close. I just feel like I enjoyed 17 more than any other version.
-
17 was definitely the best gents i agree with you all - when it was super exciting for the launch - great cards and i believe that was the year of Niekro and Tiant
-
I feel that they’ve spent the last 2 years at least focusing on building the game for a new console instead of real gameplay improvements.
Hope they’re not focusing on a PC release for next year. Not that I wouldn’t mind that but maybe they can take a year to improve gameplay.
-
You’re not alone. I didn’t buy the game this year either. With opening day today I fired up 21 and played a CQ game. That reaffirmed my decision. I just can’t enjoy the manipulated outcomes and gameplay anymore.
More power to those of you that can.

I mean playing against the CPU is a drag most of the time especially if you've played the game multiple years. I only started playing last year and playing against CPU is a chore for me. Plus I am finding that it's easier to play against human players on events and battle royale than it is to play the CPU on Veteran difficulty. Ball is just dead against the CPU.

I’ll agree with you in that playing vs other humans is better, but that is not saying much. All the same issues are still there.

I love when people pull the “git gud” card out when lots of veteran players of this game are complaining about input not mattering enough.
Learn how to play a largely random game with heavily manipulated outcomes better? What does that even mean?

They made some tweaks but it's really the show 21.5. And it looks EXACTLY the same.
