Finished the LS collection on Friday, and honestly I'm having a great time w/my Core/LS team just screwing around. I put so much pressure on myself to get Willie last season, that I felt that the majority of my time was just spent checking boxes off of a list. So far this season when I don't care about any of the collection rewards? My brain is jelly as I watch Babe, Shohei, Cornerstone Raffy and Mookie send baseballs screaming into hell, and honestly? Having the time of my life now that I don't feel forced to work on anything. The S2 cards will come when they come, but no way am I putting pressure on myself like last season. Find your joy where you can, bud.

He will tell you what's coming anyways.
I remember a couple years ago when he was standing on the mound yelling to his catcher what he was about to throw lol. Greinke is a fascinating character to me. I think he got really unfairly maligned and labeled as a [censored] when in reality he’s just kind to of an odd duck. If he started his career today, I think people would be more understanding about things like social anxiety (and — this is just my own amateur diagnosis so don’t put any stock into it — I think it’s very likely he’s somewhere on the autism spectrum).
There was a really great profile on him a few years ago that I can’t seem to find. This isn’t the one I’m thinking of, but it’s still pretty entertaining:

The Athletic has done two or three stories on Greinke told by his teammates and whatnot and every one is a goldmine of just absolutely wonderful Greinke stories. I believe Posnanski has some well written articles about Greinke's social anxiety and general quirkiness as well. He's a great player and a great character.

Jackie Robinson is my 2nd favorite player all-time, so once he's available, he's my 2B until the next game comes out. Honorable mention this year goes to 2022 AS Gimenez, who was definitely a pleasant surprise.

Lotta y'all talkin' like Cutch owes you money in real life. The absolute disrespect given to Uncle Larry in this thread is outrageous.
Outrageous!
Good day!

Raes we need to combine the community to bring a hybrid of 16/17 with with their strengths put together and bugs diminished.
He, Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker were a huge part of my childhood.
Marty Jannetty was the better Rocker!
I've hated Michaels ever since he put Marty through that window. IT'S STILL REAL TO ME.

I've been in love w/Max Muncy since his Finest in...19 I think? Swing just works for me.

Don't let high ratings for the CPU scare you, especially when you can play on Rookie. In my season, the Cairo Cats line-up is from someone who's completed the collections. I've gone 3-1 against them and my one loss was a full-game crash to the dashboard. The CPU is nothing like a human opponent. I believe in you.

I haven't had any issues w/Mini-Seasons until this morning. It's dashboarded on me twice today...which isn't great.

Murphy, Crone, Manoah, Bell, Clase. I'll get the next pack today/tomorrow. Good, not great. Manoah is more fun than I thought. Love Clase's control. The hitters are fine. Grateful I didn't pack three catchers for sure.

Wife and I bought tickets to fly cross-country to Seattle for Ichiro's Retirement Ceremony w/the Mariners. That's scheduled for late August so I'm still holding out (some) hope.

Posnanski did an entire series on The Athletic about this a few years ago. He turned it into a book called, appropriately, The Baseball 100. I like his a lot more than this one for sure.
-
I'm in the same boat.
-
Anyone else not get their pack? I've been in Scouting Report all year.
-
I was very pleasantly surprised by the 92 Awards Bill Mazeroski.
-
Posnanski's 'The Baseball 100' and 'The Soul of Baseball' (Posnanski is my favorite sports-writer, fair warning)
Kahn's 'Boys of Summer' and 'The Head Game'
Mathewson's 'Pitching in a Pinch'
Lots of good biographies:
Hirsch's 'Willie Mays: The Life, the Legend'
Eig's 'The Luckiest Man' and 'Opening Day'
Jackie Robinson's 'I Never Had it Made'
Leavy's 'The Big Fella'
ESPN put together an oral history of integration in baseball about the years after Jackie called 'After Jackie' that's pretty good.
Jaffe's 'Cooperstown Casebook'
Law's 'Smart Baseball'I've got a couple of collections of early 20th century sports-writing that has some really great baseball essays/articles in them.
Any collection of 'Best Sportswriting in America' typically has good stuff.
