I remember a couple years ago when he was standing on the mound yelling to his catcher what he was about to throw lol. Greinke is a fascinating character to me. I think he got really unfairly maligned and labeled as a [censored] when in reality he’s just kind to of an odd duck. If he started his career today, I think people would be more understanding about things like social anxiety (and — this is just my own amateur diagnosis so don’t put any stock into it — I think it’s very likely he’s somewhere on the autism spectrum).
There was a really great profile on him a few years ago that I can’t seem to find. This isn’t the one I’m thinking of, but it’s still pretty entertaining:

The Athletic has done two or three stories on Greinke told by his teammates and whatnot and every one is a goldmine of just absolutely wonderful Greinke stories. I believe Posnanski has some well written articles about Greinke's social anxiety and general quirkiness as well. He's a great player and a great character.
