This is a PSA for the April monthly rewards program.
There is a bug with the April program for monthly rewards stage 2 vouchers. If you get 25 affinity in stage two and try to turn in the voucher, this (https://youtu.be/7LXRGJaJXLo) will happen. Not sure if the bug also effects the other stages as well. Please be aware of this going forward. I'd hate to see other people waste time on the moments only for this to screw their progress as well.

It's amazing how everyone seems to think this is solely there to cause then problems. Stop making everything you can't handle out to be cheap. Myself and a lot of other players like to use this to track your habits in real time. To check your pattern in real time without wasting pause time. Hell, we even use it to disrupt timing on quick pitch spammers who never come set because for some reason balks haven't been in online play since 16 when you had to set up your matchmaking settings. Yes, there are people who will use it to get into your head, because clearly it works. That being said, just because you don't like how a small number of players use the feature doesn't mean it should be removed. Especially given the information it can provide. Instead of removing the feature I would rather see actual baseball played and balks be turned back on. It makes no sense to completely omit a rule of the game just because the casual fan didn't understand it. This is why you have tutorial sequences, which this game is notorious for showing to players during the initial load up and install. The problem doesn't lie in the use of the pitch check feature on R2, but your own impatience to wait 4 whole seconds before you can throw your pitch. If you don't have enough patience and sportsmanship to handle that, you may be playing the wrong sport champ. Baseball just may not be the game for you.
-
Do not complete the affinity points for stage two of this program without first collecting the voucher. I did this and cannot redeem the voucher. Attached below is a video demonstration of the bug. I've submitted a bug report but figured people may want to actually know this.

@EvylShaun said in Do you hate HR replays?:
I doubt watching a HR replay throws anyone off. I'll admit, I don't watch my own homeruns and I think it's silly when my opponent does, but I don't get mad. It's more a "keep the game moving" thing for me.
We've all seen the limited number of animations this game has multiple times. If you watch your replays I just assume you don't hit very many and probably aren't very good at the game. So far I've noticed most early inning replay watchers tend to rage quit somewhere in the middle innings, so my theory seems to be pretty true so far.....
Bro, go watch half the YouTubers get super upset over a home run replay. There are plenty of people who get mad over it. I can assure you. I've been beaned in almost every instance of watching one.

OK. You know the odds of that person being on the forums and reading your post is under 1%?
yea I am aware, consider it a PSA to any bunt dancer who uses this forum.
PSA for what? Your post has no point. People are free to send messages, and you are free to turn that function off on your playstation. People are allowed to bunt dance, and you're allowed to throw fastballs. People are allowed to quit, and you're allowed to get a quick win.
Do you have a point?
I am airing frustrations after a game took nearly an hour and fifteen minutes because my opponent thought bunt dancing would work for him, when it didn't, he proceeded to make the next 6 innings of my gaming experience hell. So yea, everyone is allowed to do those things, I am also allowed to come here and vent.
I agree. There is no problem posting this stuff. My only objection is bunt dancing does zero to slow down the game. But it does make it harder for him to hit. So to all you bunt dancers out there, please continue anytime you face me.
It wasn't the bunt dancing that slowed down the game, it was when it wasn't effecting me that my opponent started using every time wasting trick in the book, all the way up until the 8th inning. That's why I chose to vent, I already know the odds of my opponent seeing this post is low, I just want to let off some pent up frustration lol
Man, if you can't handle a slow paced game you're in the wrong sport, killer. This is baseball, where the average game takes at least 3 hours in reality. If you're too impatient to play thru the game at a slower pace maybe this isn't where you belong? Bet you're one of the types that would cry about someone using R2 to check the pitches and keep people from quick pitching too, huh? Hell, most of you would give up so many runs off they turned balks back on you'd probably quit because most people never come set with the pitcher.
Well child, considering I actually made a few posts about how coming set actually improves pitch accuracy and tell others users to try this to improve their pitch accuracy your assumption is pretty wrong. But since we are making assumptions, I take it by how defensive you became after reading my post, I am going to assume you are a bunt dancer, that you pause every single pitch and hold R2 for the max amount of time, you probably have some edgy team name referring to Trump or the Coronavirus and of course you have a switch hitting catcher cap named Mike Hawksbig.
I expect a long game when I play, but when I am up 6-0 and you are pausing every pitch, then you are attempting to grief. That has nothing to do with me "not being able to hack the slow pace of the game" and more to do with you just being an a$$hole.
That's cute. You have the ability to look up people's record and play style and you make a assumptions. Your 30-30 record with a fielding % of less than .900 tells me all I need to know. I've been playing these games for near a decade. I'm here to play SIM baseball. I'm not here, to listen to whiners complain about "bunt dancing" like it means anything. It's cute that you're so upset that you have no valid point to make so you turn to politics and other ad hominem attacks with your assumptions. Once again, suck it up princess. People are going to try to [censored] you off and do dumb [censored]. It's online gaming. Your problem is you lack the maturity to handle it in any meaningful way. You turn to talking [censored] on the forums to pad your ego. Grow up. Get over yourself. Bye Felecia.
-
I don't. I think it's hilarious when my opponent gets mad over me watching my magnificent home run. I'm going to play every replay on every home run. Not just mine but yours too. Why? Because I can. Because I know it frustrates you and throws you off your game. I literally won two games yesterday against higher rated players, one of which was 11-0, because they couldn't handle me watching a 3 run no doubter replay. They both proceeded to bean me until they walked in a run and then quit. If you're so easily upset from seeing your mistake again, then don't make the mistake or grow the hell up. Those are your options. Don't act like a child though, just because I watched a replay the game have me the option to. I don't complain be about players watching every presentation or walkup, nor should I. It's baseball. This is a sport of patience, and logic. You wouldn't be able to tell it watching some people play though lol.
TL;DR :
IF you cry about replays and quit over them, YOU'RE the problem. Not your opponent. Stop letting people get to you to throw your game off. -

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the tendency for everything to hang on the slightest mistake in the stick movement or timing. In the past you've been able to learn a pitcher and where they miss if you miss timing and accuracy, this year just seems oddly inconsistent across the board.
-
Okay, yeah. The title is a bit click bait but hear me out.
For the last few years there hasn't been a worthwhile practice mode in the game. in the past years versions of the game you used to have a full suite of options for both hitting and pitching practice.
For example;
in past versions of the game you used to have bat control practice, pitch recognition practice, timing practice, and live game practice.
Pitching practice has similar options, like knockout, location, and live game modes as well. Most of these modes were actually the training modes that used to be in road to the show to help improve your player. They made great practice and teaching aids for newer and veteran players alike because they focused on skills you could actually use and needed to be successful.
Since we know that the next version of the game will be cross platform, I think it's time to give the practice mode the "ol' overhaul" and return it to it's former glory and effectiveness. If you don't remember what I'm talking about or didn't play until recently go look at the practice modes before '15. A lot of the road to the show guys should remember these, and I think we can all agree that practice mode needs some serious love. I like the game, and yes I am fully aware I could easily use things like HR derby and CotW as facsimiles but it would be nice to have a proper dedicated practice mode where I can actually work on my weaknesses. All we get now are the options to choose the pitcher, the count, the batter and the runners on base. You can't focus on working on hitting a specific pitch without first using the create a player with the pitch you want for each pitch. That's just entirely too much work for the average player to be expected to do. Especially when these features used to be standard. On the pitching side of things it would be nice to get something like knockout back where it calls the pitch and highlights a section of the zone for you to hit. This used to help me learn to move around all my pitches and use them more effectively. Bringing back these and maybe coming up with some creative new training aids could be a great return to this year's game or addition to next year's game. This is just a long time player here speaking his thoughts on the state of the current practice system in the game. I've been playing these games since mlb11 on ps3. What do you guys think? I'm curious to hear from long time and new players alike in this. Maybe we can group up some ideas and get this done attention and traction, or maybe I'm just spinning my wheels here? Who knows? Still felt I had to bring this up.This has been cross posted from general discussion to help boost it's views. I feel like this is a feature we should be clamoring to get fixed but it's radio silent on. So here I am sounding the horn. What are some ideas you guys have?
-
Okay, now it's time to update the pathetic excuse for a practice mode. Bring us back the pre-mlb15 practice mode. This new one is so lacking in useful features it's pathetic.
-
Only an absolute cancerous player would honestly believe his method of control choice should be the only one. Not everyone has you're particular interest and since you're not anywhere near the top of the leaderboards, nobody's going to even listen to your ignorant rantings about what you perceive as "unskilled". Crybaby players like you are why they removed the pci swing feedback online for complaining about where and how people chose to swing. You're welcome to use whatever controls you want, but you don't get to dictate how other people play or even if it's perceived as "skillful". In fact you haven't even won a game online according to your own profile. Are you just salty that you lack the hand eye coordination to learn the mode? Seriously, all you've done is make weak excuses to justify your poor position while every experienced player tears your position to ribbons with actual information on the hitting mechanics. Is it time to just chalk you up as a product of cognitive dissonance here?

Guy, I'm 34 and play zone just fine. Stop acting like a [censored] 6 year old who thinks his blue crayon is the best. Ignorant [censored] like this only reinforces my point about practice mode needing an overhaul. Also players like this are cancer to the community.

Early swing = Pulled hit. Pulled hit = hard hit. I see no problem here.

Honestly, I wouldn't be care if the outcome is a better and more competitive player base. I mean, it's not the cheese fest it used to be in past years with bunts, rf to 1b every time, and absolutely broken servers for the first 3 months. So that's come a long way, but the practice features have been sidelined for what I like to call "bloated features" like retro mode. You could easily axe that entire pointless mess that wasn't really anything more than a gimmick to go with Griffey being cover boy in 17'. As for using these features to draw people into DD to buy stubs, so be it. If it brings in more players and ensures better servers like we've had for a couple years now I'm okay with it. This game may indeed use monetization but it's not as extreme as Madden or FIFA at all. With the recent addition of programs and slews of diamond cards being relatively easy access the game, it's easier than ever to be a "ftp" or free to play player. Especially if the theme of releasing the game as a PS+ game near the post season continues to be a trend. These are all just more reasons to consider reworking the practice mode and making it not only better, but more accessible and dare I say it, FUN. SERIOUSLY. That's the biggest thing I think people forget. It's a game. It still needs to be fun. Even if it's practice, it needs to be engaging enough so you can get a feel for and see your progress but still be entertaining to do. Some of the old minigame style practice modes from Rtts I talked about would be perfect.
-
While I understand that overdoing monetization and micro transactions is the norm now it still doesn't mean they should ignore a major feature and to simply say "well they only care about money from stubs in DD" is super reductive and narrow viewed. With the game coming to more platforms and the player base about to explode exponentially next year, investing in and rebuilding the practice mode is a good idea. There will be a lot of new players in the mix who will need a good place to build good fundamentals and habits. Given that cross platform play is becoming the norm as well, the change or reversion of the practice mode will be even more essential than ever.
-
Bump so this doesn't get buried. Seriously, can we bring this up?
