Stanton is phenomenal on all star and hof vs righties. His pci is small on legend but most are. Vs lefties he is literally the best in my opinion on all difficulties. His defense and arm make him way better than Braun, who is a bench bat at best but should never see the field.

Preciate it! I'm gonna give him a shot.

What are the thoughts on Stanton out there? I start Justice & Sizemore in my corner OF spots and am looking at potentially adding Stanton as a lefty masher off the bench when I face one of Leiter, Blue, Glavine, Crochet, etc. and need to bench one of Sizemore or Justice. Can he get around on the inside heat on HOF? My other option is Braun and he's significantly cheaper but still has the 125/125 lefty stats with better vision. Defense is trash, though.

  • Two months in; who is in your rotation?
  • jpott3012_PSNJ jpott3012_PSN

    Edward Cabrera
    Felix Hernandez
    Cliff Lee
    Roy Oswalt
    Zach Wheeler

All are absolute studs and all have ERAs under 2.5 in RS. Felix was my ace since the beginning but Cabrera has passed him up. Dude is by far the best pitcher in the game.

  • Are any of the pre-order 42 cards worth playing with?
  • jpott3012_PSNJ jpott3012_PSN

Hank has been in my lineup since the beginning and is just super solid. Hitting around .310 with 20+ homers in probably 70 or so RS games. Ruth started for a very long time until Thome/Foxx took over at 1B. He's still a bench bat, though. Same with Griffey.

  • Must Have Starting Picthers
  • jpott3012_PSNJ jpott3012_PSN

    Kluber
    Orel
    Prestige Oswalt
El Duque (35ish starts with him and he's sporting an ERA under 2.50.)
Mackenzie Gore (never starts but is a great long lefty reliever)

  • at this point in the year, what's your RS record?
  • jpott3012_PSNJ jpott3012_PSN

    150-130. First year playing online.

This seems to be how my RS has played out all year long. I'm currently on a 5-game winning streak but know the fall back down to the 500s probably starts tonight. Anyone else seem to ride the rollercoaster like this? I'm very much average (20 games over .500) but really don't feel like my performance changes much from game to game but these wild swings still happen.

Play less. Whether you believe it or not, your play will deteriorate the longer you play. This is do to a number of factors ranging from muscle fatigue, mental fatigue, visual fatigue and a number of other factors which you cant physically feel going on. Limit your time playing ranked seasons to one or two games per sitting and then go do something else within the game whether it be events or showdown or just plain stat grind offline. It will also limit the amount of trolls that you will have to endure playing RS. Also the longer you play the more likelihood that you’ll be matched up with someone that is clearly superior to your level of play. And one last thing. I definitely hang it up when I lose. Your mood definitely plays into the quality of your gameplay. Hope this helps.

Preciate it! That all makes sense. I typically play a game or two a night and that's been a good balance for me whether I'm on a winning streak or a losing streak. And I can definitely tell when I'm matched up with a superior opponent. Those games are over in a hurry lol. It's amazing how some guys literally punish even the tiniest mistake over and over again.

I'm there with you.. almost exactly the same.. I was 45-50 games over 500.. my record is not great, but played a lot..

This season i'm sitting 3 games over 500.. in 60 games or so.. I'll win 3.. lose 5 or so.. Highest i got this season is about 700.. back down to 570.. just can't get it together.. a lot of changing the line up because of this that may be the issue, but trying to find the right balance.. .I'm going to cut down on the games played, and focus more on finishing up the FOTF, getting ready for the chase... but it sucks man..

It really does. I love playing RS, I really do. I think it's a blast and haven't experienced all the problems a lot of people have on a consistent basis, but I just can't avoid these streaks. Of course it's fun when winning but there's not much worse than a 4-game skid where your ranking drops 150 points lol. One thing I've tried to do is keep my lineup consistent through the losing because I know it will eventually stop and it helps me get better with their swings when the Ws come back.

By all means, keep doing your thing. But if you rely so heavily on that 1 pitch, you'll eventually run into someone who will demolish each and every high sinker you throw and that will leave your spirit crushed. Especially when you'll start throwing offspeed, which is inevitably going to happen, and the guy can sit back on those as well. You'll then be left without a pitching approach, because your one trick pony strategy has been taken away and you'll most likely ragequit in the next inning or the one after that.

That has happened a time or two lol. It really doesn't effect me much, though. This is the first year I've played DD and I've been sitting between 12-20 games over .500 all season. Seems like I'll win 4 in a row, lose 4 in a row and repeat that cycle over and over again. It's frustrating but I stopped letting it actually make me mad. Playing this game is supposed to be fun lol.

Well that's good, there's no point in getting upset anyway. But it would benefit you to develop a better and more strategic pitching approach if you'd like to have some success in this game. Because once you hit the upper tiers, pretty much everyone can hit that sinker fairly consistent.

Oh, for sure. I've sat between 550-725 all season. I mix it up quite a bit with El Duque and Kluber, but I know I'm not actually good at the game. I'm just trying to stay close to 20 games over and maybe get hot and make a run at 800 before I move onto Madden or FIFA.

I'm never upset at someone for spamming sinkers vs me. My disappointment is with SDS for making them unrealistic.

Agreed. I use the sinker/FB mix probably 70% of the time. An opponent paying attention should be able to pick up on my tendencies. I don't feel bad throwing them if they can't barrell it up. I've had way more sliders/curves/slurves get crushed to the moon even when I hit my meter.

Yep. I can tell pretty quickly if I'm playing a guy who is going to expose that pitch and sit on it. Those games usually end in Ls for me haha!

Every game has its flaws that makes it unrealistic. The better players are the ones that expose them to the fullest. Always been that way. Never gonna change

That was my line of thinking until I started jumping on this forum regularly and seeing all the pissed off takes. I'm by no means great but really only play RS now that I'm happy with my team. I'd like to switch it up more but I'm a pretty trash hitter who needs to limit scoring to 4 or less to win most my games.

  • The high & tight sinker
  • jpott3012_PSNJ jpott3012_PSN

I'm gonna be honest... I live off this pitch. I'm a meter pitcher and can throw dots with it probably 7 out of 10 times. I won't have a SP in my rotation (Kluber, Oswalt, El Duque, Cueto & Whitley) that doesn't have a sinker. I also get the same pitch thrown at me time and time again and just accepted that it's part of the game even though it's an unrealistic pitch. Seems like the community rips on guys who lean on this. Am I exposing a flaw in the game or being a toxic player?

  • Kris Bryant MVP Card
  • jpott3012_PSNJ jpott3012_PSN

That’s a good point. I was at $60K last night. Got a good deal on Wieters and needed to upgrade over Sanchez. Could always sell him and grind for a couple weeks and have enough to get him. Would also love Ernie. I’ve got an autographed picture of him hanging in my office. I can’t seem to get the guy out when I face him.

That’s probably true. If only I had a Trout to sell lol!

  • Kris Bryant MVP Card
  • jpott3012_PSNJ jpott3012_PSN

Ughhh that’s what I was fearful of. No chance I’m playing this game come winter time. I’d be fine dropping $50-60K for him but his price right now just seems outrageous. Also doesn’t help that he’s my favorite player. Maybe a stub sale will come along haha!

  • Kris Bryant MVP Card
  • jpott3012_PSNJ jpott3012_PSN

What’s the feel from you guys on this card? I loved his gold card but do not want to drop 85-90K stubs to get him. What do you think his price will come down to?

  • Anyone else out there love El Duque?
  • jpott3012_PSNJ jpott3012_PSN

I'm glad I'm not alone! My last 4 starts with him have been crazy. 4-0 in roughly 30 innings with a total of 3 runs given up. I love to go high inside sinker, low and in fastball and mix in the curve/slider/change to keep people off balance. He's so fun to pitch with.
