I'm with ya TC. I honestly feel like the devs are trying to actively push offline players away from DD. Between what you've brought up and my complete lack of luck with opening packs I don't even play the game anymore. This has been a huge eye opener for me and won't be buying next year's edition. Not that it matters since they're opening the game up to Xbox and will have more money than they've ever had rolling in.

Haven't pulled one in around 120 standard packs and a few Headliners. Honestly, I probably won't pull any this year. Pack results and some changes have killed any drive I've had to play DD this year.

I'm with ya. 120 or so standard packs and a few Headliners with no diamonds to show. That and some of the changes to the game have completely killed any drive I had for playing DD. Maybe that's what they want though.

Offline XP has been reduced too. Meanwhile I can't get Eck because of the bugs
The bottom line for me is that If I can't get to 300 stars in the first inning, with the added points I will earn doing the full US map in conquest then I am probably done with the game.
It will remind me of '18 when after one month I realized that there was no chance I was even going to be able to earn 1 immortal so I simply quit.
For me I am going to get there just on sheer hours of game play, because I sucked at Showdown before the patch.
In what mode though? The problem for offline players, one that the online players do not really have to deal with, is that once we have completed the inning specific Conquest and Showdown (if you can finish it) and any player programs like the one for Granderson then there is nothing left to do but grind meaningless games for the sake of XP.
In Ranked Seasons, and even Events gamers are playing for a purpose, to improve their rank and earn better rewards. If you play offline all that is left is to play "vs CPU" games that have no point or re-running the US conquest map and earn another 10 pack of bronze and common cards.
I got two golds and Bregman out of that 10 pack, I was surprised this the only year I got good cards from that 10 pack. I got Yates from set 1 headliner pack, and Walker Buehler from set 2 headliner pack. I finished all the CQ maps, I finished Granderson, I am not going to waste 500 stubs to play showdown. MTO takes like 10 hours to do. Online is frustrating with two many errors and glitches. I am left to moments and grinding innings for Affinity. I did not play 16 until the end of the year. 17 was the best for pitching.
That's awesome. I've opened 90+ packs and gotten 8 golds and zero diamonds...
Yeah it is. It is a risk with the headliners but I done good so far. I think it is a better to open headliners than a 50 pack. 7,500 vs 75,000 even if I would have pulled one of the diamond I have I would have only made back 20,000 at most if I decided to list it on the market. The new Animation for the diamonds is pretty cool.
Maybe I'll get to see it one day lol

Why? So next year they can say they've worked really hard on it, say that it's fine tuned and much better than this year. So, people will buy it and enjoy it for a few days before they push out a patch that does the same thing. Then the cycle continues.
-
to make this type of decision with your game during a quarantine when all everyone has is time to complain about it? Not to mention the patch itself, but the decision to release it right now blows my mind.

They got your money already, they don't care. Now they can cater to all the online players who will keep paying for packs to try and get an advantage. Then, next year, they can talk about all the changes they've made so everyone will buy again and after a week they'll drop a patch to destroy it. Circle of life. Well, circle of yearly game entry life
If you think Online players like this patch you are dead wrong. They are catering to the 12 people that want realistic baseball. Most of the posts and comments about this patch ARE from online players
I never said online players liked it. However, online players play against other online players who are suffering from the same patch. Generally, online players are better at the game as well. While online players may not be liking what happened, offline players have gotten the no-lube treatment here.

I made a big deal in a separate thread about how the decisions they've made this year have hurt the offline DD players. This just adds on to that. The online players will still play each other even and the cream will still rise to the top, but the offline players and average or worse players are the ones that are going to take the brunt of this. Decision after decision is hurting those players and pushing them away.

What’s the point anyway? You can’t do anything with the contract money ... for years I’ve taken the minimum so the team could sign other good players ... why eat up the team’s budget for no reason?
Some people enjoy realism in sports games. To those people it's probably understandable to take a little bit less to help the team their signing with, but a top tier player taking rookie money destroys any semblance of realism.

I've opened probably close to 500 packs, all from 50 pack bundles. Zero money spent, all from flipping til I get to 75k in stubs.
I've pulled the following
Mike Trout - kept
Freddie freeman - kept
Ketel marte x3 - kept 1 sold 2
Nolan Arenado x2 - kept 1 sold 1
Trevor Story - kept
Aroldis Chapman - kept
Josh Hader - kept
Charlie Morton x 4 - sold all 4
Clayton Kershaw x 3 - sold all 3
Jose Altuve - sold
Alex Bregman - sold
Mookie Betts x2 - kept 1 sold 1
Cody Bellinger - sold
Jeff Bagwell - sold
Bryce harper - sold
George Springer x2 - sold bothSo I'd say that they arent that dead.
Wish I had some of your luck. I've ripped 1/5 of the number of packs you have and pulled zero diamonds

It seems like input matters much more this year. So, if you're getting a decent amount of perfect/perfect's, you'll likely be getting a decent amount of homers. In years past that same input didn't matter too much.

90 packs, 7 golds, no diamonds

well for some reason my game insists I'm a dodger fan giving me betts bellinger and kershaw in the same 10 pack
At this point, that's a deal I'd be willing to take.

Make that 70 packs with 7 gold player, still no diamond anything.
-
@jfenton8287 said in 50 pack luck?:
I've gotten two gold players out of the 25-ish packs that I've opened since release. I personally won't be ripping any packs with stubs this year, but that's just me.
Make that 4 Gold players in 50 packs with nothing diamond whatsoever

KevinGohD posted a video the other day and he pulled Trout, Yelich, Acuna, and Betts. I think most of those came from his 50 pack bundle. I’ve never really been much of a pack guy and typically only open the free ones, but that seemed pretty lucky to me.
There's a lot of people that will say certain Youtuber's packs are juiced. I'm not saying that's true or not, but those videos sure do encourage people to open their wallets.
People do say that, but in the past he has typically pulled a big ol’ pile of nothing. I think he just happened to get really lucky this time, and by using up all of that luck he will probably lose a lot the rest of the year leading to some funny content.
As a general rule, I avoid packs like the plague, but the start of the year is the time to open packs if you’re going to do so.
I'm unsure of the numbers on this, but how much has his subscriber base grown? If this sort of thing was in fact happening, it would only make sense for devs to allow it to happen to larger content creators. If it only happened to people in their inner circle of favorites(the ones included in the game last year) it would become obvious. Again, not that I believe this to be the case. Everyone can get lucky every once in a while and I'm sure I've just been on the other end of it since the end of 19'.

I mentioned in the thread about possible FOTF players pre-launch that this was probably their plan, a player for every "season", and someone stated to me that the devs said there wouldn't be one per season. Not sure how true that is, but thats what I was told.
It would only make sense, though. Start off the first season with a gold that will possibly go diamond (like Albies or Soto), and then end with a 99 overall FOTF card (like Acuna or Strasburg). Possibly add in some legends.

Offline DD - No path to 300 without Showdown or expensive collections is killing my desire to continue.
