@Dolenz_PSN
Then you’re assuming as much as anyone lol. If you’re being subjective, I don’t think Tulowitzki moves the needle for hardly anyone. If that’s the big legend reveal they were saving then I’m genuinely surprised and it will be the first year in as long as I can remember that I’m not in on this game at the outset.

Man, I’ve given every possible chance to pull Rob Flores’ favorite card (credit card) lol. But I’m not seeing a reason to yet. Tulo without announcing a new major early legend is super underwhelming. Still will check in though.
-
@Dolenz_PSN No, it’s a fair assessment. I’m not saying tell the status of an individual they did not obtain, but should explain across thousands of possibilities why no one was added. There have been a lot of expressed interest in more new legends and even regional legends known mostly to one team’s fans. These are clearly easier players to obtain rights to use and also infuse some freshness to a new season. With such a wide range of players to look into, it would absolutely be not listening to a fanbase to not bring some of those new faces into the game. That was written 2-3 days ago and spot-on, since yesterday they did announce exactly that. I commend SDS for assembling a number of new legends across different eras. They’ve teased a big announcement today and I’ll be hoping for a new, major early legend.
-
His contact stats are legit even on his entry card. Nice to see new early legends
-
I’m hoping for Joe DiMaggio too
-
Cobb and DiMaggio.
And for a sport that embraces history unlike any other, I’d like to see more Deadball era players- Shoeless Joe Jackson, Tris Speaker, "Three-Finger" Brown, Grover Cleveland Alexander, etc. -
I agree. There’s so many former MLB players/families out there that it’s common sense that a good number of them would just be genuinely happy they/their loved one would be remembered in a widely-used game. I imagine every team has beloved regional players not well-known outside that fanbase. Maybe a pitch being they’re not being above a 90 diamond card, but introduced early on, so widely used at that point. Maybe they’re in a financial position that they can’t acquire/retain more early legends, but without that transparency from SDS I’ll assume they’re not trying and listening to their fanbase. But, we’ve not seen the final product, and it’s my opinion they will still bring out at least one major early legend. A Cobb or DiMaggio would certainly bring me to the game quicker.
-
Yeah, I think SDS has an inaccurate picture of their actual fanbase lol. The kids won’t be putting a lot of money into this game. I’d venture to guess Ty Cobb and Joe DiMaggio are the most mentioned legends wanted in MLB 26. If one of those are being revealed soon by SDS I’ll get the deluxe digital edition. I do feel the overall slot for the live series collection hasn’t been announced and may be a big name like one of those.
-
Yes, and you list good names.
Hopefully they are saving a big name or two. -
I’m simply hoping for more early legends. Red Schoendienst and Phil Rizzuto were great surprises, along with Roy Campanella and my boyhood hero Albert Pujols, but so many more deserving legends are out there. Rights? Did we ever get a Duke Synder better than his spring 85 diamond? What happened to our early legend pitchers?
-
Pumped for Red Schoendienst and Phil Rizzuto, and Campy and Pujols. Hopeful for more though
-
I’m all for anything that brings Ty Cobb back into the game and a storyline into his epic career
-
@GoozeFn_PSN Good points. Thanks
-
Do we know when to expect the next legends announcement?
-
I’ll look forward to playing Campy’s storyline and getting that stadium, but man, this franchise is literally called MLB and everyone is playing it because it’s MLB. I’ll grind like everything to get his 99 Dodgers card. SDS needs to step up its game and put some effort into our early MLB players.
-
I think they’ll release a big legend in the legends trailer. If they’re tracking who people seem to want the most, and able to get it done, I could see it being Joe DiMaggio or Ty Cobb. Either would be exciting for sure.
-
I agree with wanting some of the lesser-used 99 legends early. I’d love to play 99 Willie Mays and Richie Ashburn in the outfield, but by the time 99 Ruth, Mantle, Williams, Musial, Synder, Greenberg, etc. comes along I’m trying to work them all in.
-
I like playing the earlier players and would love to see more of the history of the game through them. Campanella was on my wish list so that’s a good start to the legends announcement. Pujols was my favorite player growing up and a living legend. Nap Lajoie is an overlooked legend. Ty Cobb and Rogers Hornsby were in the game before I started playing DD and that would be awesome to have.
I’d add- Joe DiMaggio, Enos Slaughter, Tris Speaker, Shoeless Joe Jackson, Mel Ott, Dizzy Dean (btw, where did all our early pitching legends go?!), Sandy Koufax.
Does anyone know when to expect the next legends announcement? -
Joe DiMaggio
Rogers Hornsby
Yogi Berra (would be nice)
Roy Campanella
Johnny Mize
And please bring back more Deadball area players and the early legendary pitchers -
DiMaggio would fit that theme like you say and be a great addition
These aren’t legends.
