I love Chipper, but I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Comparing to the J-Ram that just released, his contact numbers are lower vs lefties and higher vs righties. His power numbers are lower vs lefties and really close vs righties. His vision isn't a lot better, less than 15 points I believe. J-Ram is better in every defensive category, has more platoon ability, and running stats are nearly the same. If you prestige J-Ram it makes those stats vs righties even closer and the same with vision. Honestly, Chipper's 94 card prestiged is more appealing than this one. He's not worth 1 mil stubs.
I just like to build my 1990s theme team every year. Been waiting for 99 Griffey and 99 Chipper to replace 95 Griffey and 96 Chipper for a while. I don’t need them as such. I have Trout, Mantle etc for the outfield, but I’d rather have a 99 Chipper to use at 3B when I send my 90s squad out there to do battle than a switch hitting, 99/125 maxed out everything generic try hard card. I don’t use a CAP, I don’t really like to use players from the 1920s just because they have better stats than everyone else, I don’t really like to use imaginary juiced up future stars and prospects because they have better stats than everyone else. Screw Jimmie Foxx, Willie Mays and Rogers Hornsby. I don’t care if I win or lose games particularly, I just want to build and use a squad of my favourite legends in DD. Chipper is one of my favourite legends.
I already paid out the [censored] for Alomar (850k), Goose (450k), Glavine (350k), Piazza (400k) and with the possible exception of Goose, not one of those cards was worth the price tag. But I don’t care, I wanted them and I got them. Chipper not worth 1m stubs? 1m stubs is absolutely worthless. What use is millions of stubs if you can’t use them to buy the players you want to use?
