Weren't you the one who, last year, complained about the game all year long and swore that you were not buying the game this year?

@charterbus_psn said in Honest question for the Offline only gamers:
I just don’t get offline DD. Wait months for cards to play teams that never change with no real end game other than cards they could literally already be using or playing against. Borderline psycho.
Why in the world would you include those last two words. You could have left those off and gotten your point across. But instead you finish with two words that basically insult the offline players.
Here is something else to ponder. Those of us who play offline are probably much more content and appreciative of the game. We complain less. We don't care if someone uses directional hitting, we don't have to deal with freeze offs or abusive players. We don't have to play a large majority of our games at Shippet. We don't complain about comeback logic, predetermined outcomes, high sinkers from outlier pitchers.
We all pay the same price for the game so there is no right or wrong way to play and enjoy DD.

@mrwonderful95 said in Is this game officially dead?:
Did a decent madden put the nail in MLB?
No.
Its the same every year. A group of MLB The Show players bolt for the newest and shiniest Madden.
The rest of us continue to play MLB The Show.
Me, personally. I have no desire to go to Madden.

@mr_murda_cap_psn said in I see why packs are a joke to Buy:
it's kind of funny how all the You tuber and Twitch star pull diamonds all day long in 50 bundle packs when i should at least received 4 diamonds
That is not how odds work. 1 in 50 odds is not a guarantee of a diamond every 50 packs.
Your odds of pulling a diamond in the first pack is 1 in 50
Your odds of pulling a diamond in the second pack is 1 in 50
Your odds of pulling a diamond on the 200th pack is 1 in 50A few other points.
Anyone here who has played the game for years could have warned you that packs are a waste of stubs/money.
YouTubers can edit their videos to make it seem like they are far luckier than they actually are. YouTubers know that people don't want to watch a video without any diamond pulls.

@Pergo_MLBTS said in Agree or disagree?:
Disagree. For me its been less pay to play than ever before. I used to always buy stubs and this year I have not spent any real money because there are so many solid free cards out there.
Pay to win is never the proper term for this game as having better cards guarantees nothing if you are bad at the game.
But that being said, I am baffled if people really can't see how much more aggressively they are pushing monetization, especially stub sales this year.
- Reduced Stub payouts for playing
- Reduced Stub payouts in moments.
- Reduced/delayed Stub payouts in Showdowns.
- More "No Sell" cards than ever before in program rewards.
- A new 50K pack in the store twice a week to get players to gamble trying to get a 99.
None of it is required so it is not pay to win but they are all measures to try and convince players that it is just easier to buy stubs in the end.

This is prompted from learning that there is a new 99 Lars Nootbaar card today, and you guessed it, buried in a headliners pack.
Everyone knows, or should if you have been around, that I am a Cardinals fan and my main goal every year is to earn the best Cardinal players, preferably through offline play, to use in offline play (conquest, mini seasons). I realize that is just my way to play and not everyone else's.
My Cardinals theme team lineup currently has 4 Core cards and 4 S1 cards (I have not earned Ludwick yet).
- 93 Victor Scott (Season 1)
- 84 Matt Holliday (Core)
- 93 Nolan Gorman (Season 1)
- 80 Paul Goldschmidt (Core)
- 88 Nolan Arrenado (Season 1)
- 87 Matt Carpenter (Core)
- 93 Joe Torre (Season 1)
- 89 Stan Musial (Core)
- 74 Masyn Winn (Core)
The only 3 Cards I have above 90 are all Season 1. My theme team will get weaker in season 2 and who knows how many Cardinal cards will be released in that season.
Now lets looks at what incentives they have given me to play and earn rewards. Here are the Top 10 cards listed for the Cardinals on the web site (including Nootbaar).
99 Lars Nootbaar (Pack)
99 Ryan Helsley (Pack)
99 Ryan Ludwick (TA)
97 Lou Brock (Collection)
95 Tommy Edman (Br Program)
93 Nolan Gorman (Pack)
93 Joe Torre (TA)
90 Tink Hence (Pack)
89 Victor Scott (Pack)
89 Stan Musial (US Conquest)Out of 10 cards
- Only 3 have been able to be earned through any offline program, the two team affinity cards and Stan Musial.
- 1 is a collection reward that I will never reach.
- 1 is an online reward (probably end up needing to purchase for stubs)
- 5 are in packs (including an expensive rare round and a headliner)
I have 128K stubs. All I can think about is do I splurge for 99 Ryan Helsley, 99 Nootbaar and 95 Tommy Edman? I think the answer is no until I find out the Wildcard situation for Season 2.
This is the main reason my interest has waned as Season 1 has progressed.

I love how it's always the other guys getting the breaks. Nobody who posts on the forums ever get any breaks themselves.

@LuvMyXBOX said in And this is where SDS has crossed the line in my view:
why are they greedy? I usually don't follow the DD politics. Last year they gave us all 99s day 1. I think many of us didnt like that. Is that why they're being called greedy? because now we have to progress thru DD like other years except for last year?
No, because more and more they are putting what used to be freely earned through programs into packs.
I try to stay positive, even to the point that I have been called a shill a few times. But I see nothing positive about this new format.
The new Season Award Drops get us 4 cards earnable in the program.
88 Trout
88 Colt Keith
88 Ohtani
91 Garret CrochetRarely, of ever were there only ever 4 Topps Now cards in a week. And lets not fool ourselves. Trout and Ohtani are there to try and silence the discontent.
Now they have added the other cards to a pack that is 30K stubs which comes with two 92 overall cards and three 89 cards. So these cards are better than the free cards and there is one more of them.
I mean the push to get people to buy expensive packs was evident last year but I feel like they elevated it to a new level this year. More and more the game is telling all of us that stubs are the way to advance, not playing the game.
I'm truly expecting expensive packs with the best players in every program now.

The message you probably wanted to send is the exact reason people block messages.
But man I feel bad for you guys who hit the ball on the nose every time and have never, ever benefitted from a bloop hit. In fact you're such good and upstanding players that I am sure you would just forfeit any game where you benefitted from a bloop single.
-
I still can't believe they accumulated all of the data in beta and probably spent months tweaking hitting and coming up with Perfect/Perfect and then decided to throw out all that work and tweak hitting only a few days after release.

@cjhanz84_PSN said in Topps Now:
So last month we were able to skip some moments and complete the program, but now we are back to having to complete all of them. Thanks for making Topps now trash again, SDS
Blame the multitudes of players who complained that their extra points they earned did not carry over. It was a mess. Posts flooded here. Posts flooded Reddit.
I can't say that I blame them for changing it.
-
I have to say, I have not been the most positive about the game this year. I have stated that I am not the biggest fan of Sets and Seasons and how much I dislike the PXP grinds for individual cards. How much I dislike their aggressive monetization push.
But, if I am going to complain about the stuff I don't like then I feel that I need to give them credit when they do something that I think is good.
Which is why I must say that I applaud SDS for the changes to the missions in the POTM program. Not having a mission for each individual player is much more palatable.
Not having to earn XP with Player A just so you can earn Player B, who you then need to earn PXP with to get Player C is a godsend. It makes the POTM grind much less intimidating.

Before Launch:
"We here at SDS worked hard all this offseason to come up with a new hitting dynamic. We even had a beta period to test it and receive feedback from players. We used that telemetry and feedback to make further tweaks in order to make things even better for our release"2 days after official launch:
"We are going to take a few days worth of telemetry, when everyone is playing on the easiest difficulties, mix that in with some player complaints and abandon all the telemetry we gathered and work we did prior to launch." -
Here is where I stand as an offline player as of last night
- Completed Starter Conquest
- Complete list 1st Inning Conquest
- Completed US Conquest
- Completed Starter Showdown
- Made Several failed attempts at the 1st inning Showdown
- Did all of the Welcome Moments
- Did all of the first inning Moments (Granderson and Woods)
- Did the Eckersly Evolution moments.
- Did a MTO run up to the World series(have not played the world series as it would be a waste of affinity points)
- Earned the FOTF from my favorite team.
- Played the nine inning CPU games against Cubs and Yankees. (Woods and Granderson)
I am sitting at 205 program points.
There are only a few options open to me to get the final 95 points. Showdown, which I have failed badly at in every attempt so far, and that costs 500 stubs each attempt. Collections, which also cost stubs, but in this case both collections together are more expensive than just buying the three bosses outright. Mindlessly grinding for another 30 hours or so in the last 9 days of the 1st Inning Program.
Basically the goal of 300 stars still seems so far away and the options to get there seem so unappealing (and just not fun) that it has killed a bit of my desire to keep playing.

Tried to play around 9:00 am my time and got a network error exiting a Conquest Game. Bounced me back to the main menu. I went back into DD and Conquest and tried to play a Stronghold game and got an error that would not even let me start.
I closed the game and walked away. I don't see much point in even trying the rest of today as I assume the server load will continue to get higher and higher as the day progresses.
Going through with a double XP weekend when the servers can't be trusted was just a bad idea. The servers will eventually get better and the bugs will be fixed but I still can't pretend that this is not disappointing.

@creedbratton466_xbl said in Ban question:
I received a 365 day console ban for "uploading an inappropriate image to the Vault". I'm guessing it's for the signs at my stadium that said "eat booty" and "clappin dem cheeks". Lesson learned, don't threaten to clap cheeks.
My question is, will this 365 day ban affect MLB 22 also? Seems like it's essentially a 2 year ban if it does.
I've seen some pretty heinous [censored] from teams/logos get way less punishment which is pretty lame, but I've accepted my fate lol.
I would contact them that is not even remotely bad and it was their fault for not having some kind of censor built.
I agree that is what is described is what was done then the ban was entirely too excessive.
But I don't agree with is that it is SDS's fault for not having the words in the filter. At some point, as adults we have to take responsibility for our own poor decisions and stop blaming others for not stopping us from acting on them.
-
imagine abandoning any gaming at all on the console for three plus days because you are desperate for a win.

Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina set the MLB all time record for most wins by a battery tonight in the game against SF. Wainwright and Molina notched their 203 victory as a battery. This moved them ahead of Warren Spahn and Del Crandall who had 202 wins from 1949-63
I don't expect a Topps Now card for either player but I am hoping SDS can at least acknowledge the accomplishment with a Topps Now moment. It's not every day, shoot it is not even every season that we see all time records fall, even the more obscure ones.
Next up is the all time record for most starts by a battery which they will set if they have 14 more starts together this season.
These are records that I don't expect to be beaten again, at least in my lifetime. Players just move too often these days.
-
No, they just said later on twitter.
I don't mind that they missed the time or that they are late. I do mind that they waited until the exact moment it was supposed to release to tell us it was delayed. They had to know that this was going to happen hours ago. I have been kind of planning my day around sitting down at 2:00 (my time) and playing.
