@bleachfro_MLBTS Well, the Mets were in L.A. in early May and mid April. It's only a couple hours down the road. He could have gone down there in either road trip.
Just saying.
And the Dodgers just played in San Diego. Alex Vesia was just updated.

@dodgers19k88_MLBTS Maybe im misunderstanding your reply. Nowhere did I imply a player’s ’priority’ should be a video game. Or anything about what a player should do. My post was about my opinion on what SDS should do (release all the scans they have as early as they can). Again, maybe I misunderstood your response, though.
I disagree that they’re sitting on face scans until someone makes the majors. I don’t think he’s been scanned and asked you what he and any other never scanned prospect should focus on? Faces for a video game or their actual livelihood?
@bleachfro_mlbts And since Emerson has been garbage in his brief time in the majors. Do you think his main priority is to actually stick in Seattle or get his face scanned for a video game?
Another thing nobody ever considers is just cause they play baseball doesn’t mean they play video games or care they’re in a video game. Some of them could literally care less and unless they get extra money could be like no thank you.
If it wasn't for capitalism, the game wouldn't exist.
I'm all for asking SDS to improve their game, but if you can't enjoy the game because a coach has a wrong name and number, then you're looking for reasons to be dissatisfied.
Exactly. Disliking the game because they have unrealistic foul ball rates vs real life. Or the game for idiotic lineup strategies and bullpen usage (pitchers coming in with 2 outs every single game). Not because they don’t haul around their huge face scan contraption around the country or pay random coaches who are all vanished from the game after 1 season.
I probably won’t get the game after this year either. I don’t dislike it as much as you guys. I just don’t see a reason to get it. I got it for the WBC stuff and for Murakami to be in my franchise. Once Pro Spirits comes out I’ll play it much less.
After the first season most the positions are filled by the fake managers and coaches anyways. Why waste the money for the real ones when they can give it to some extra former players?
You would think after making over 20 games they would finally fix some stuff. Game is glitchy probably worse than 25 in my opinion. Step it up MLB this is embarrassing.
Don't put all the blame on SDS. Share some with MLB.
If the game had stayed as a PS exclusive, you would have a much better product and possibly (probably) another choice of game as another company made an XBox game with an MLB license.
But SDS made the game cross-platform at MLB's demand and now has bugs for three systems to worry about.
I’ll agree with this. Maybe EA makes a new MLB game instead of making Mega Baseball 4.
There is a licensing issue here, yes
It’s what he said. I saw another post on this. There was a blanket license that expired and now every manager and coach needs to individually agree to be used.
Just curious why you’re so certain the lack of face scans is because of legal issues and not because of SDS just slacking? You are basically speaking like you know this is as a fact so I’m curious where you’re getting your information from.
Because there’s a lot of things from other aspects of this game and how SDS has done things the past few years to make me think it is equally, if not, more likely that the reason for the lack of face scans in the game is just from complacency.
I’d love to see some proof and be wrong, but I don’t understand why so many people are quick to jump to conclusions about legal issues and giving SDS an excuse for what could just be a lack of effort.
They showed the system used for scanning players in one of the streams. It isn’t something they can just carry around easily.
@StinkyMcPooter_XBL I think they’re using the app and sending in a scan that’s being used until they have the time to get there. They’re trying to actually stick around in the major leagues not get their faces scanned for the game. I never said I don’t like that the players don’t update in my existing save file. But, I also played 15-18 versions of this game that had zero additions to player models once the game launched so it is what it is.
@fubar2k7_PSN if that is your opinion that is cool, but most people would say what the game looks like is a big part of gameplay quality, especially a game that is largely about the players. I'm with you I want other parts of the gameplay to be better too. I'm just saying I think this aspect of the game is important to a lot of people and it seems like it is being neglected, so it makes sense for people to go after SDS about it. Just wondering, what parts of the gameplay do you think should be better?
I could go on forever but I think foul ball rates are asinine. They’re double real life games. The game has an incredibly high amount of action with 2 outs for the me and the CPU and none with 0 or 1. I play DD and franchise so I don’t play with the sliders but use Dynamic Difficulty. My pitching is out of the 1910s and offense is ridiculous or stagnant depending on what day of the week it is.
There was a time they didn’t do anything with player models at all once the game launched. Clearly before it was out for other consoles so for me this is not important. Pre-existing save files don’t get the updates anyways. They are there for players he named but to get them you have to start a new franchise at each new scan for the younger players or don’t play until all the scans are done.
They have the scans in franchise. You just have to start over to get them. Pre-existing save files don’t update the young players. You can get everyone they manage to get a scan of if you start your franchise around November.
For the legends, are you able to have them wear their numbers? Or are they blocked out? For example Will Clark #22 is retired now so he probably can’t wear it with SF
I’m a huge Clark fan and weirdly this game must hate him. They still don’t have the 22 up in the retired numbers section of Oracle Park and as of last year players in my franchise were wearing 22 on the Giants. I haven’t gone far enough into the franchise this year to know if anyone will wear it this year.
@zhendy1_xbl The gear is there that they have the rights for. They definitely need to add the hand and foot guards. The more money they spend on gear and equipment the less they have for retired players. I doubt they care about equipment.
FYI: chains aren’t made out of diamonds.
When will the new city connect uniforms be available in the game?
If teams are releasing an new city connect this year, they will do it when the team uses it in game the first time, that is how they have released them previously
Weirdly the Dodgers 2025 World Series jersey was playable in franchise at launch long before they even used them. Heck, I first saw them in the game.

@rsimm23_MLBTS I would love for EA to make a baseball video game again. I think they plan on making a college baseball video game in the future. Not quite sure but if they do I also expect them to make a mlb video game as well as there is no exclusive rights agreement between sds and mlb. I see them releasing a college baseball video game first then a mlb video game after to go along with the college baseball video game.
Nothing stopping them except themselves. They chose to make Mega Baseball 4 instead of making a real baseball game. Perhaps the NBA Live return being such a miserable failure has taught them not to bother.
Regarding any minor league player who didn’t play in the majors before this game started. They were not union members until they played and this game wouldn’t have the right to have their face. Cam would have to get himself to San Diego and get scanned. Contact him through social media and ask him nicely and maybe he’ll do it for you. Keep in mind it might not matter in an already started franchise. Dalton Rushing didn’t update in my first franchise. Not very long ago, and if the Cam complainer actually played 6 years he would know, real minor league players DID NOT even exist non this game so he should relax a little and be grateful Cam is actually there at all.
@PolKrout_XBL said in Another debut….:
CAN WE PLEASE GET SOME FACE SCANS OF THESE TOP PROSPECTS THAT HAVE DEBUTED!!!!
Chase Burns debuted today!!! He had a historic start and Struck out his first 5 batters. Top 3 pitcher prospect with Electric stuff. He should’ve been added before this game was released along with Jac Cagliogne, Nick Kurtz, Christian Moore, cam smith, Cole young, Kristian Campbell, Kyle teel, drake Baldwin, chase dollander, Jacob misiorowski, chase meidroth, AJ smith Shawver , etc…. Have all debuted! These aren’t just random prospects filling in for IL spots . They are the future of the MLB! TOP PROSPECTS!!!! Please add some players!!!!
Bubba chandler is gonna debut soon so will Noah Schulz and brandon sproat can we please get some of these guys. Ethan Holliday, max clark, Charlie condon, walker Jenkins, and Aidan miller would be great too!
Btw We’re still waiting for Jose Soriano, Colt Keith, Hayden birdsong, Jordan beck, hunter Goodman, etc….. and what is going on with Josh H. Smith???
Also, Can someone please let us know what the process is with this? Are we waiting til after the all star break? Why was every top prospect in the game a few years ago and now we’re still waiting for players who have been playing consistently for a year or a few years? Even last year wasn’t great but you added a lot of players. This year you barely added anyone when the game was released and it’s still almost the same rosters. So many top prospects still haven’t been scanned even after debuting. Just wanna know what to expect and why it’s so hard in 2025 but 2022 the game was loaded?
It’s on the players to decide when their face is scanned not SDS. Mike Trout didn’t have his actual face in the game until either 2017 or 2018.
I’m not really sure it matters to be frank. Max Muncy has garbage clutch rating and I mash with him in clutch situations.
@Mr_Helison_PSN said in Player portraits:
This year's game has to be the worst ever! Player portraits are gone and are all fake faces, UI is everywhere and annoying I personally think MLB the show 24 is way better than this game franchise mode is still very boring save your money and don't buy this game it's horrible!
This is the craziest thing to be upset about. If it saves some space to keep the game from being the same size as NBA2K and lets them add more to the player models it doesn’t matter. The deeper you go into franchise the more scattered around everyone becomes and those player portraits go away anyways. I was 5 years into the franchise in 2024 and most players had switched teams by then except for pre-existing long term contracts and some of them had swapped teams too.
