This is the first year it can be multiple seasons. It's up to you, I always promote of fast track because it will immediately improve their ovr by 2-6 points and improve potential if fast tracked. If you can't use them, they will become tradeable. I use trades for position players and free agency for pitchers. Call ups and fast tracks, I use for either. If you play enough you'll start to develop your style.

I officially cannot get stealing to work. I've tried holding LT, tapping LT, pressing direction on left stick and tapping LT. The runner won't move, except sometimes they run way before the pitch if I'm holding it and get thrown out. Am I in control or is it a suggestion tied to stats?

IRL "Consistent Baseball" is an oxymoron. If I do x then y will happen. Doesn't work that way. There can be some trends, but they also change over time. But I get where you're coming from, I suppose.

The lack of responsiveness is really messing me up now. I tap the button after picking the ball up now, but nothing happens (it feels like almost a whole second lag between button press and reticule appearing?) so I tap it again, and it cancels the throwing reticule. I don't know why I'm really struggling with this, never had a problem last year :/. Is the reaction time just really slow for a new character and I forgot about it?

I am regularly getting tagged out because instead of stopping at bases when I stop moving the left stick, my character just keeps running. I'm kinda new at this also, and I decided to use "classic base running" to avoid the left stick issues. Classic is, R1 to advance and L1 to retreat back to the bag. I assume the left stick works somehow because people use it regularly, but I prefer classic. Just hold it down to advance multiple bags and let it go before you pull up to the base you want.

As far as using left stick to field the ball, don't try to move too close to the ball, UNLESS it's hit right to you and you are charging the ball. Just get in front of it and the character will field it. Also could be that your character has slow reactions, so makes awkward moves. I noticed this also in RttS, and eventually he started making beautiful plays once he got some experience. I'm playing MLB 20, but should still be the same.
