I've got it too. Started new Franchise modes, tried to run my old one. Reworked my PS4 Database, uninstalled, re-installed. Nothing, this patch ruined the game.
It crashes anytime I try to load into a game, I have no idea why?

2nd Update: They added a lot! Guys like Matt Chapman, Marcus Semien, Joey Gallo and Enrique Hernandez got their player portraits added. Thanks for the work SDS. I'm sure you guys got some person/people working on this to finish the rest like Carlos Correa MIN, Trevor Story BOS, Anthony Rizzo NYY, Jorge Soler MIA, A.J. Pollock CHW, Nick Castellanos PHI and Kyle Shwarber PHI. ect.
I’m glad you noticed the updates! I appreciate your dedication to making a list of players that still have generated mugshots, however the 400+ updated images were everything that we have access to this year.
Thanks for responding, I mean, some of the guys I posted have had player portraits in the game that are already on the disk (IE: Nate Pearson had his portrait show up in last year's game) and some cards use those same portrait files.
Some of those don't show up for their portraits likely because the code for the player's portrait is either missing or is referencing a file that changed names.

Pictures will be updated when Topps Series 2 comes out.
Not just the cards for DD, but the player portraits that we see during a Plate Appearance on the scoreboard ect. Good to hear, if that's the case.
How come if you resign someone they go back to the generic non-official portrait? Like I resigned Mancini and he has the typical Road to The Show look. Dansby Swanson I get cuz he wasn't originally an Oriole, but Mancini was.
Yeah, I've seen this too in other game modes like franchise. Seems like once the game generates a mugshot for a player in Free Agency, it replaces all the player portraits despite being available. They probably have a code running when you boot up the franchise/road to the show/march to October ect that would fix this but because of alterations in how the off-season works, forgot to re-add that code for any new season.
That actually makes a lot of sense, then again, this is the first year with multi-seasons for March To October. Probably fixed in a patch or part of 23. No big deal though.
Yeah hopefully they'll patch this, doesn't seem like much needs to be done to fix this other than re-load the code that boots when the mode opens.

Update: Well I saw some "cards" were added but not many player portraits for their Plate Apperences. I'd love if this got implemented this year, SDS even did it for a select few even in 2019 with Kendrys Morales getting his Yankees Portrait added despite him being on the team for a month, it would be swell to see this updated when a ton of players moved around in March/Early April because of the lockout.

It's a solid game gameplay wise but I can't be the only person taken out of the simulation experience by seeing a guy like Marcus Semien not having a Rangers player portrait when he's up to bat.
I remember back in MLB 13 the Show there was updates mid-season for player portraits so it's not unheard of and those were in pre-PS4 days.
Please and thanks Sony.
If you view the player card on any roster viewing (IE: Triangle on PS4) it glitches for whatever reason and gets rid of all player portraits for people in the minor leagues. It also sometimes gets rid of a player portrait for the majors.
This has been a glitch for a few years now. I'm happy I solved it, it happens in Franchise as well as offline modes.
If this can be patched, it would be really nice so everyone else can enjoy the game the way it was meant to be played.
Thanks!
Pretty lovely game, gameplay gets better each year.
I love seeing all the prospects for Franchise use, been wanting this for years. A huge reason I got this game.
With the issues though, some players have ratings above 100 like say Bryce Harper, Joey Votto, Mike Trout but their ratings regress below 100 each few weeks as I believe the player progression system hasn't been updated in a few years and isn't calibrated to have stats above 100 as I believe this is the first game to have a player with ratings above 100 in the default roster since MLB14(?) when I believe either Rajai Davis had 100 stealing.
Can certain ratings such as plate discipline be tweaked from regression as players often carry superb plate discipline as they age? Another rating that should remain above 100 for more than a full season would be the K/9 rating.
I do love the 100+ ratings and would love to see them remain above 100 for the year as I believe it would set a season worth of stats correct at the end of the year, IE: Aroldis Chapman's strikeouts can only be replicated with 100+ K/9 stats and almost no batter gets 100 walks (without 700PA) a season in a franchise year or around a 14%+ walk rate for a batter.
