    High fast ball..fix it please

No it would be easier to get hits if the game rewarded you for pci placement. If I’m using a power hitter and I good good the ball, pci top line, diamond or circle on the ball it shouldn’t come off at a lower speed then the fastball thrown

It would truly be great if the game rewarded you for pci placement. Even greater if it didn't randomly animate the placement somewhere you didn't place it to create some scenario that wasn't there. I've actually not touched my controller (now this is rare) and the AI would animate my swing being slightly right and high to justify the 'ol "he swung through that one".

It just do what it want do do.

  • Honest question-I'm extremely curious, How does anyone truly enjoy h2h?
  • dcordash1_PSND dcordash1_PSN

I'm 20 but this freaking game and it's silliness has aged me 40 years so I'm 60 I suppose.

So because you can't hit a high fastball something needs to be done about it by the devs? wouldn't the thing to be done be practice?

No..when the word impossible because AI imposes this restriction...practice does not help.

Here is the deal, once you put a certain amount of hours in learning zone hitting you have got it. It's not brain surgery, it's not all this scientific rhetoric you hear. It's simply watching the pitch as it leaves the pitcher's hand, following the pitch, swinging at the pitch at the proper time. Once you learn zone it's simply...see ball hit ball...there is no more practicing.

IF you've played 100 innings on HOF mode...there is no more practicing that's going to make you any better. Either you have the reflexes and eye-hand-coordination or you don't.

Then the AI control takes over. And, regardless of the arguments, practice does not allow you to cross barriers and pitfalls within the code. AI runs this game not us humans.

@DeadPhish1976 said in Kingman is the worst:

Thats kind of how Kimgman was back when he played. Big long swing with a lot of strikeouts and not a guy who'd hit for much of an average at all. Good for the 450 foot bomb but not a lot else.

That's exactly how Kingman swung. But, you would think SDS could create some balances in that "big swing" to adjust and live up to the card ratings. I don't mind a .220 batter that hits a dinger every 10 AB's, But, his batting average is worse than any pitcher I use.

Do you believe we have "bot teams" in RS? I mean, it's not something that hasn't happened in almost every other portion of the online gaming industry. And also explain why at no given time, 24/7 have I not almost instantly had an opponent to play against. I know SDS has a fairly large customer base..but still doesn't feel "right".

And, if so, I suppose we've already started down the road of EA Squad Battles and don't even know it.

I’ve never thought about that, but I doubt it. How would they pitch?

It’s just crazy to me the skill gap difference on some players. I wish matchmaking were a bit better. Running into that buzz saw after hitting 700+ every time is annoying.

The guy hit everything with authority . Heat, off speed, breaking ball...

Do pitchers just have “bad games”? I’ve played games where I mash early on as well, but it’s not that often. Actually, it’s usually when I have a video streaming so maybe it’s a connection thing. Sometimes I can catch up to any FB, other times, it’s like I’m swinging a noodle.

I know a lot of people have these complaints, but how are some players consistently able to perform?

How would they pitch? It would play out like any offline AI/human game. I would actually be surprised if there weren't a whole lot of bot opponents on RS.

As opposed to having the animation lie about the pitch placement..just create false animation that the batter swung exactly on the spot where the pitch arrived. Or just fudge a little bit on both sides to make it look believable.

I mean, the whole game is smoke and mirrors. The animation depicted in the PCI (batter swing/pitch) are seldom accurate according to user controller intent. The AI typically has a preordained outcome and it will figure a way to get there.

I look for high in the zone fastballs and hit a good amount of my home runs

Yeah, I've hit a few myself. I've had games where I've swung through high-middle and crushed 100 mph fastballs that were above the top of the box. When the AI is being charitable, anything is possible.

On the other hand, when the AI puts on the hitting brakes the first thing you'll see is those blazing fastballs can't be put into play.

I’m the same way with chipper. I think I’m hitting under .200 with him offline

Chipper I'm doing fine with. Well, that's an odd thing. I was batting .300 with Chipper until I pulled Ellsbury a few weeks ago. Now I'm batting .350 with Ellsubury and Chipper has dropped under .300.

I've watched other teams lineups (played over 400 games) and even in the most weak .200-.250 lineups there is always that one guy that's an outlier hitting way over .300. Again, if I didn't know better would just write it off as another piece of code that keeps the customer engaged by giving them a token stud.

Some people get it and some don’t. Kingman has absolutely CRUSHED for me since I started using him (Schmidt has also been great for me). Though I’m absolutely sure that you have guys that you destroy with that I can’t buy a hit with Lol... just how the game goes.

Yeah, I was playing with someone a couple nights ago and Kingman hit a walkoff HR for them. Likely just the AI controlling your star players. Those players you will have success with and those you won't. Code not controller.

  • High fast ball..fix it please
  • dcordash1_PSND dcordash1_PSN

There are a few other threads about the inability of the posters and crapload of others that replied to hit high fast-balls. I agree it's like a spam. I've actually put the pci at the top of the zone and started my swing at various times to test it, and it truly is not allowed by the AI.

When AI is in shut-down mode it just dictates all fast balls over 98 mph to be impossible put put into play. Many other unusual things in AI shut-down mode, but it is very consistent with no fastballs put in play. And also the prolific "swung-through it" for most many other pitches.

Some have said this is possible with a monitor as opposed to TV? Why would a gaming company ever condition their software based on display? Doesn't sound logical, but anything is possible I suppose.

He's just got one of those swings that doesn't work, kinda like how a lot of people don't like Ripken or Mike Schmidt's swing

I believe you're prob correct, Sky-King does seem to have a long exaggerated swing plane.

.But, how does SDS set their ratings then? I do realize there doesn't seem to be a lot of science to that, but I would think it isn't just random either.

  • How to prevent pci from shaking
  • dcordash1_PSND dcordash1_PSN

I've got 2 controllers. Both purchased in the last 2 years. One has the shake the other one does not. The one with the shake just started a couple weeks ago.

  • Kingman is the worst
  • dcordash1_PSND dcordash1_PSN

Most of my pitchers are more dependable than 93 Kingman. I don't get it. I had one hit in his first 27 AB's. BA of around .061. Meanwhile, my pitching staff is batting .145. Even in All-star offline where most of my guys are .300 to .500, Kingman is lagging big time.

He's worse than Buster Posey who also has ridiculous ratings that appear to be just for the draw of the card with no real merit to the ratings.

  • Calibrate your controller?
  • dcordash1_PSND dcordash1_PSN

A calibrated controller means little in this game, because controllers..period..don't mean a lot.

Ranked is stressful to me, my goal is to increase my rating each day, so if i win a ranked game i do not play another one that same day, i move on to events or BR or something else

Sounds like a strategy. Does it work?

  • Why?
  • dcordash1_PSND dcordash1_PSN

Sometimes I swear the AI code gets "stuck". A pattern will start to emerge for several games. Don't know if it's lag related and AI compensation for the network issues. Or a recent fix that has affect.

Last night I played a game that went 17 innings 0-0. Everything I would hit was at least "good" but nothing would fall in. I'm sure my opponent was experiencing the same. One of those times you know the AI has flipped the "no runs" switch. No different than it occasionally does in Showdown and what not.

Finally we decided to just do a friendly. Hated to, but we both realized we were headed for one of those infuriating losses on an AI gimme HR or some ridiculous error. I understand it's difficult to design a game that is perfect, but predictable is never fun.

So, the next game I started was rolling along exactly the same. 8 innings of the same "no runs" code invasively controlling the match. At some point in the 8th I get a double and am trucking into 2nd on a ball being thrown in from RF. it was a stand-up double, but my base-runner just rounds 2nd and starts heading to 3rd. Of course...Out. I quit..just couldn't take the OBVIOUS manipulation anymore.

For God's sake why can't this game consistently maintain an immersive and believable flow? All I want, and anyone I would imagine, is a game that the AI can project that appears like a real experience. As soon as the goofy stuff starts we're suddenly yanked out of that pretty cool world of make-believe where we "feel" like we're are actually playing a baseball game. And are reminded that, no, it's not you it's the software that's making the decisions.

Anyway, 2 games in a row of 0-0. 2 different opponents...25 consecutive innings. I'm not saying that has NEVER actually happened in MLB, but I'll take a guess it hasn't happened more than once every decade or so.
