Kingman is the worst

He's just got one of those swings that doesn't work, kinda like how a lot of people don't like Ripken or Mike Schmidt's swing
I believe you're prob correct, Sky-King does seem to have a long exaggerated swing plane.
.But, how does SDS set their ratings then? I do realize there doesn't seem to be a lot of science to that, but I would think it isn't just random either.

I think you're looking at it wrong, just because a card is rated in the 90s, doesn't mean it's going to play well. SDS is setting ratings based on career (well, in most cases, FS notwithstanding). But that doesn't mean the card is gonna play great in-game.
Stats have their place for sure and do matter greatly, but swing type is just as important imo. It's why I can have over an 1.000 OPS with Vidal Brujan but can't hit a lick with Kingman or Schimdt. It's not something I can easily explain, but people that are smarter than me point out that longer swings just don't work for the majority of the player base.

I think kingmans player model being suuuuuuuuper tall contributes to how long his swing feels. I agree that his card is trash, even with good attributes. 100% has a horrendous swing

Some people get it and some don’t. Kingman has absolutely CRUSHED for me since I started using him (Schmidt has also been great for me). Though I’m absolutely sure that you have guys that you destroy with that I can’t buy a hit with Lol... just how the game goes.

Yeah, I was playing with someone a couple nights ago and Kingman hit a walkoff HR for them. Likely just the AI controlling your star players. Those players you will have success with and those you won't. Code not controller.

I’m the same way with chipper. I think I’m hitting under .200 with him offline

Chipper I'm doing fine with. Well, that's an odd thing. I was batting .300 with Chipper until I pulled Ellsbury a few weeks ago. Now I'm batting .350 with Ellsubury and Chipper has dropped under .300.
I've watched other teams lineups (played over 400 games) and even in the most weak .200-.250 lineups there is always that one guy that's an outlier hitting way over .300. Again, if I didn't know better would just write it off as another piece of code that keeps the customer engaged by giving them a token stud.

Dude looks like he doesn't fit in the box and his swing is super long, but if he gets into one, it's GONE.
-
I don't like his huge strike zone. Harder for me to covet.
-
Thats kind of how Kimgman was back when he played. Big long swing with a lot of strikeouts and not a guy who'd hit for much of an average at all. Good for the 450 foot bomb but not a lot else.

That's exactly how Kingman swung. But, you would think SDS could create some balances in that "big swing" to adjust and live up to the card ratings. I don't mind a .220 batter that hits a dinger every 10 AB's, But, his batting average is worse than any pitcher I use.

Agreed. His average shouldn't be worse than the pitchers on your team. I never do good with guys with those big long swings in this game either. -

Most of my pitchers are more dependable than 93 Kingman. I don't get it. I had one hit in his first 27 AB's. BA of around .061. Meanwhile, my pitching staff is batting .145. Even in All-star offline where most of my guys are .300 to .500, Kingman is lagging big time.
He's worse than Buster Posey who also has ridiculous ratings that appear to be just for the draw of the card with no real merit to the ratings.
Yeah he was probably the only hitter I've tried that hit worse than FOTF Molina. I have a higher average with Kerry Wood, lol.

I was doing so bad with chipper I sold him and put sandberg at 3rd. I’ve got a bad habit of using the exact same cards every year because I get so use to the swing that when I try new people I can’t hit for [censored] with them.
This year was the first year I actually used trout, I couldn’t hit with him at all in the beginning but now I’m over .400 BA with him and I can’t take him out. Just waiting on a good Lou Gehrig card to throw at 1st because I’m not getting Thames anytime soon. -
