Someone explain this to me. SDS is still gatekeeping some of the best Live Series cards, like Aaron Judge. I heard people say that we shouldn’t expect to be able to complete the live series too quickly because cards like the Carlos Beltran and Roger Clemens cards were ‘endgame level’ cards.
The Aaron Judge live series card is still extremely rare. On the market as of yesterday it was still going for 400,000 stubs. I was FINALY able to afford it (since I now know I will never actually pull it), and here was my reward for the 400,000 stubs I paid:
The Aaron Judge live series card…which isn’t even the best Aaron Judge card any more
The Yankees live series collection Paul O’Neil…a completely useless card at this point
The AL East collection Darren O’Day…which isn’t even the best Darren O’Day card any more
The AL collection 99 Roger Clemens…which isn’t even a top 15 starting pitcher card any more and not a card I will likely use much
AND
The live series collection 99 switch hitting center fielder Carlos Beltran…which isn’t even the best 99 switch hitting center fielder in the game any more.

So….if all those cards are now mostly obsolete, WHY IS SDS STILL GATEKEEPING THESE LIVE SERIES CARDS? I’m sick of this [censored]. I have reached my breaking point with this game. All that work and all that saving of stubs for cards that aren’t even worth using any more. Goodbye MLB The Show. You used to be fun but are now just a time sucking grind that I just can’t handle any more.

To the people comparing pack odds to a casino….wtf? This is not a casino. It’s a game that we all paid for. And pack odds make it so not everyone gets the same experience. Some people are lucky and have pulled multiple Judge or Ohtani cards, and can then sell them off and get enough stubs to buy other cards they don’t have. Others still haven’t been able to pull either one of them. It’s just garbage. Not the sane experience all because of stupid rng.

@nymets1987_PSN That’s my biggest problem. SDS really doesn’t care about the average player and their experience. They only care about the streamers or those that have the money to continuously buy stubs. It feels like they have disdain for players of my skill level.

I never get headliners, I never get the featured Chase pack cards, I still to this point haven’t pulled Aaron Judge, and all the other featured packs almost never give me the best cards, no matter how many of them in one. So stupid.

I’ve had it with this game. I spent 75,000 stubs to get 3 of the new August Spotlight Drop packs, and I got a pack in the drop program. ALL FOUR CARDS WERE CARSON WILLIAMS!!!! This is f-ing stupid. SDS, please show some f-ing respect to your players. This is not fun. It is garbage. This is why I will not be buying any future versions of this game. Yes, I am still playing this one because I bought it so I’m going to get my moneys worth. But it is clear by the way pack odds happen that SDS doesn’t really care about all of their fans getting the same experience.

@sbchamps17_NSW This…is…a…forum. It exists for us to voice our opinions. Just because we don’t share an opinion doesn’t mean either of our opinions isn’t valid. If SD Studios is actually a good studio that cares about what their fans think, they will at least read and consider my concerns. And I’m not the only one who feels this way. Do I “expect” them to do what I’m asking? No. Will they ever make a change if they don’t know some people way want one? No. So let me voice my opinion and stop trying to de-value my experience.

@sbchamps17_NSW Because I shouldn’t have to. Do what you’re saying is “You’ve had bad luck, so buy it from someone who’s had good luck.” That’s such a cop-out. I’m making my opinion heard (because that’s what a forum is for) and I’ve given a solution. What’s wrong with my solution? Why are so many people on here opposed to it?

1. I do understand how statistics work. I’m saying that basing the rewards on percentages is dumb. This is not a casino. If I complete something 5 times I should have received the reward at some point.
2. I’m not leaving anything out. My luck has just been horrible. While I haven’t been able to complete every spot along the way, my odds by the time I’ve reached the stadium challenges (playing them on all-star) have been between 52% and 70%. And I’m not talking about the “rare”BIAH packs. I’m talking about the epic rewards. The first playthrough I got the Otavino card, but not Jung. My subsequent 4 plays I got NEITHER epic card.
   I’m sorry. You can say that the majority of the community loves this mode, but I don’t think that’s true. I think the majority of good players do because they can play the higher difficulty levels to further increase their odds. I have never said to remove this mode or even to change anything on the first playthrough on a map. But if someone completes the map and beats the stadium challenges but does not get the card, their odds should go up a bit on their next run. You may like grinding and grinding, but not everyone does. That can make a small tweak and make it more enjoyable for more people without taking any of the challenge away for the hardcore players on their first playthrough.

The thing that bugs me the most is that they could make just a small tweak and everyone would be happy. Keep it as is for people’s first attempt. if you’re good at the game and can get the percentage up high enough to get the rewards, great. If, however, you make it through and beat the stadium challenges only to not get the rewards, then on your next run the percentages start a little bit higher. They could even do this without announcing it and the good players wouldn’t even know anything changed, so we can protect their precious “I’m really good at a game and you’re not” egos.

@YOSHI24_XBL I could realistically play this 100 times and have bad luck every time while someone else plays it once and gets lucky. That….is…..garbage.

@YOSHI24_XBL It’s not 50% every time. 53% was the lowest of my odds. I had one at 63% and one at 70%. I should have earned the stupid card by now. I don’t want to hear “keep trying and you’ll get it”. I’d rather be playing other modes than Diamond Quest.

@YOSHI24_XBL But why? Why are only the good players able to get the rewards. And I’m not saying the percentages should be higher at the start. I’m totally on board with the better players getting rewards faster. But if I complete the map and beat the stadium challenges only to loose to RNG…my percentage should start a little higher so that I can eventually be guaranteed to get it at some point. Having to succeed at a map 6 times to still only “maybe” get the rewards if the percentage gods allow it is garbage.

@sbchamps17_NSW Holy [censored]. What don’t you understand. I’m not asking for things to be “handed” to me. But if I complete the map FIVE TIMES, I should have EARNED the reward that available by then.

@BJDUBBYAH_PSN I don’t expect to get a reward every time I play a 3 inning game. I expect to get a reward that is displayed for completing a mode at some point, and not have to complete it now a minimum of 6 times to get the card. I don’t like buying cards with stubs if I can avoid it. I like earning the cards where I’m supposed to be able to earn them. I’ve done what is required FIVE TIMES and not gotten the reward…all because of stupid percentages, not because of anything I’ve done wrong. The fact that some people can complete this once and get all the rewards, and others have to try over and over and over again means that not everyone is getting the same experience playing the game, and that, in my opinion, is garbage.

You’re probably CONSIDERABLY better at this game than I am. Stop coming on here and telling people like me that the way I experience or perceive the game is wrong. This forum exists for me to let the developers know what my experience is playing the game. If you don’t agree or you are having a better experience than me, good for you. But I am not having the enjoyment I should, and I think they could tweak the game to make it more enjoyable for everyone.

And I got 1 reward playing 10 games at over 50% every time, so I say the odds are bs.
