    What happened to offline content?
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

I’ve been playing since ‘21, it’s clear that SDS is no longer nudging us to play online, they are FORCING us to play online. Like many of us offline only, I finished every offline program in the first inning, except New Threads mini season. Completed 6 runs of WBC mini season. I came no where close to finishing the first inning. I play my games in Vet.

    It’s very discouraging

I’ll edit and added that we know SDS monitors stuff like this and will adjust. (At least I hope they do)

  • Why are rookie and veteran so hard this year?!
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

I’ve posted this before, but I’ll repeat: The Show does not “understand” Rookie mode at all. I play Madden, they dont do a lot of things right, but they “get” Rookie mode.

On Rookie madden, you score SO many points that you gain confidence and actually WANT to play on a higher level to challenge yourself.

In Rookie The Show, all the same “shenanigans” exist except for slightly slower pitch speeds. Pitchers dot and fielders are gold glovers all the time. So, you are NOT encouraged to move up except that you HAVE TO in order to get XP and PXP to get rewards.

    A big difference.

  • Online is broken in my opinion
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

@baconstreaky_psn you truly have my respect!! I’ve played online exactly twice in my 6 years with the Show. Won one and lost one. I frankly don’t know how I won. I grind offline and let CPU field and run for me.

Online was, well, quite an experience, when the first ball hit by my opponent, nobody moved!! 😂

  • Prices up on everything
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

There was a thread the other day about being “bored”. I thought about it, but that’s not the word I would use for this year so far.

@tripleh-4481_psn you found the word I was looking for though: Stale. The game does have that “been there, done that “ feel to it so far. Yup, stale.

  • Did they change the cpu setting on update?
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

To the original OP, yes, “something” changed for inning 2. WBC mini seasons got much much harder on Friday. Still winning, but by 1-0 scores instead of 4-6 to 0 before.

  • Stuck in a moment….and you can’t get out of it
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

I’m sure others do this too, but for any two hit moments, if I don’t get one in the first at bat, I start over.

Makes them go so much faster.

  • Stuck in a moment….and you can’t get out of it
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

@drbear100_psn I’m glad I wasn’t alone in thinking that. Prior to doing all the Moments, I finished up a WBC mini season. The 3-game tourney. I play same teams each time, facing GB, China and then Mexico in the finals.
Usually, I win each game 4-6 runs to zero on Veteran. Last night, directional and up sticking on practically every batter, I beat GB 1-0 in extra innings. China was 5-3 in extra innings and Mexico was 1-0. It seemed like “something” was up last night all way around.

  • Stuck in a moment….and you can’t get out of it
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

For the Rooker Monent, I use directional hitting and push my left stick straight up to get “lift” on the hit. When I did this, Rooker literally could not hit a thing. I’m mean struck out every time.

Eventually, I stopped using the left stuck up technique and he hit one out soon afterwards.

When I got to Correa, I didn’t use the left stick and he hit a homer after about 10 tries.

Very weird. Left stick up and directional hitting was NOT working so well last night.

  • How lucky are your pack pulls?
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

I’ve pulled Jeremy Pena, Trout, Lindor, Harper, Greene, Crow-Armstrong and Carroll. Wow! Better than I thought. Still need a boatload (40+) though.

Pulled Pete Alonso from a BIAH pack last night.

  • Stuck in a moment….and you can’t get out of it
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

The Correa moment “only” took me about 10 times. Pitcher hung a slider and it barely cleared the right field fence

NOW, the Brent Rooker Moment!! A half an hour. And many many bad words…..

I hope I never need to use this thread again ….yeah, right!! 😂

  • Sell Acuña & Murakami or exchange for 2nd inning voucher?
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

I just knew that @savefarris_psn would come to my rescue!! 😂

  • Sell Acuña & Murakami or exchange for 2nd inning voucher?
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

I’ll add that I’m no @savefarris_psn but I seem to remember these boss cards prices skyrocketing once their inning was over.

  • Bo Bichette Moment
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

@ledfoot_19_psn yes! A thousand times yes! Where is that legendary thread!!

  • Sell Acuña & Murakami or exchange for 2nd inning voucher?
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

I’m nowhere close to getting the boss pack, so I broke down and bought them both last night. My stub balance is very low now! Ha ha.
I hope SDS adjusts for the 2nd inning. I get what they were trying to do in inning one: they wanted you to try ALL the different modes in DD. That’s not how I play and I got “penalized” for it. I finished every program except the Egg (Puk, Yepez prices are crazy high and I won’t hit a homer in DQ with schwarber) and I’m like 40k short from the boss. Oh well, on to inning #2!

  • DQ Questions
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

@savagesteve74 thanks for the warning! Ha ha. Tried the Musial/feller DQ. Yeah, everything I dislike about Showdowns reared its ugly head as I traveled around the board.

I was about 50/50 on the challenge/showdowns. They were significantly harder. Very few of my good swings were rewarded. Many hits right at fielders. Bronze pitchers dotting, especially with runners on 3rd and less than 2 outs. Like I said, typical Showdown shenanigans.

Anyway, barely beat the Cards stadium with a 35% chance to get a card. Didn’t get one. Cashed out and D-O-N-E with DQ.

Overall, IMO, DQ is an offline way for online players to grind. Definitely not for offline players.

  • Item Collections
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

For me, I like to finish as many collections as I can each year in The Show. This is one of those I can finish!!

  • DQ Questions
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

@savagesteve74_psn thanks for the info. This is extremely disappointing to hear. I’ll give the next one a try to verify what you are saying (I’m sure it’s true)

If so, that’s probably it for me and DQ (this year). Two plus hours of Moments and Showdowns for only a 60% chance of getting a single card? Not sure that’s worth it.

On top of that, I was tracking XP gained while I was clearing the board. It wasn’t much.

  • DQ Questions
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

So, I went back and played the DQ where you get Garrett Anderson as the big reward. This time, I went over every square. Finally saw the “coaches cart”! I won every challenge and showdown (except 1 or 2). Got to the Angels stadium and had a 100% chance of getting Anderson on Veteran! I was extremely happy for that. Won that game and also received 15 packs for the 2 hour effort. Not bad.

Based on the starting and final percentages, I added 76% to my chances of getting Anderson by clearing the board.

Just passing this on for anyone else, like me, who is exploring DQ for the first time.

Going forward, I’ll add 75% to the initial percentages of getting each type of reward, see if it’s worth my time and count on clearing the board. Play the stadium games on Veteran.

So far, my experience is not too bad….

  • Weak hits and routine plays.
  • capardo_XBLC capardo_XBL

Phil Rizzuto is the master (on my squad) of the blooper hit just out of the SS reach and just in front of the CF. He’s magical!!

If only his steal rating was higher! It would be a “triple” every single time he gets a hit.
