They made one fantastic addition to the game. Double PxP.
To SDS credit, I would add being able to restart a Moment without having it finish was a fantastic addition as well this year.

OP, I truly feel your pain. Showdown, simply and frankly, is a mess!
It needs to be completely blown up and redone.
It may say “rookie” and “vet”, but it’s really not. The pitchers and fielders are jacked up and don’t play to their ratings. They pitch and field WAY above.
50-60 rated pitchers dotting corners, a ton of “atom” balls, double plays “on demand”, relievers throwing 40+ pitches with no loss of stamina are just a few of the shenanigans you deal with.
Many of us simply skip this mode altogether.
I, personally, have only gotten two Showdowns. The starter one and WBC. After that, the few I’ve tried I’ve made it to maybe halfway.
I’ve sworn them off until SDS “fixes” them. And like you, it upsets me that this causes the grind to be much longer.
Yeah, this is an old program….
I thought I’d give the showdown another try, figuring SDS has made it easier. Yeah, right.
I’m halfway thru. Failed against Satchel Paige. Next up? Martin Dihigo with a runner in first and need 3 runs.
My runner on first is Cap Dixon. 90 speed,90 agressive, 90 steal. Their catcher? Some dude with a 50 arm.
First pitch, I send Dixon. As he is sliding, he stops slightly in mid air, allowing the ball to get to the 2b for the tag.
3 pop outs later and I’m done with this Showdown.
And I’m never playing another Showdown EVER in this game. This mode can, uh, do things that are anatomically impossible.
This mode is simply broken. Thanks for listening!

I am using FOTF Garver. Can’t get him out if my lineup. He hits em far!
There isn't a FOTF Garver. The Rangers is Corey Seager. I'm curious who you actually mean haha.
OP- FOTF Carson Kelly is fun to use, Gary Sanchez collection reward for the Yankees and the Cover Mauer 88. I'll eventually collect them all and grab his 96. I would imagined FOTF Realmuto is also fun to use. His ASG card last year was mighty.
One of my favorite things to do is drink “beverages” and play The Show. One of the things I should not do is drink “beverages” and post!!
I meant Sean Murphy. I think. You know, the FOTF catcher.
I don’t think the game is “pay to play”. But, I do think that SDS is trying to nudge ( not force or push) us to play online.
The game is awfully “grindy” for us offline strictly players.
For me, it is fatigue caused by being “overwhelmed” at the sheer “grind for 99” in this years game.
My goal each year in DD (3rd year) is to finish as many Collections and Programs as possible. Anything online and anything Extreme is out for me. So, I don’t finish the GOAT collection and don’t finish Extreme program.
Past two years, I’ve been able to meet my goals. With a lot of months playing frequently.
This year? I just don’t see it. I used to play frequently, and have still yet to finish ANY TA. In fact, TA 4 hasn’t even been started. At one time, I had completed just about all “Other” programs, but since Season 4 that is no longer the case.
And the Collections? I still need 35 cards for Set 3. All of those will come from finishing the TA3 collection, which I’m 40 cards short there.
Again,TA4? Zero. Nada. Zilch.
I don’t like the direction that DD has gone in this year. Having a TA collection that feeds into a main Set collection is a “grind within a grind”.
So, as many have pointed out, this year, the game is more of a “job” than a video game.
For me, that leads to overwhelming fatigue.
This is a thread where my list of users that gets banned grows…..
No, most of us don’t struggle on rookie! We get frustrated because our all 99 rated God squad scores 1 or 2 runs against the 2023 Oakland A’s while they play like the 1970 Billy Martin Oakland A’s. We win, but 1-0, instead of the “gazillion” to nothing that our 99 squad “should” do if Rookie played like Rookie should.
And it’s not once or twice. It’s every single Conquest game!
We play to grind out some PXP, relax and drink a cold one. Instead, we spend more time shaking our head and yelling at the screen than hitting homers.
Thanks for listening!
The fact that you can restart a Moment without it having to “finish” was a game changer for me. I’ve gone from abhoring Moments to actually not mind playing them.
To complete this thread, I finally got it! I used raesone suggestion and If I didn’t get a hit in the first at bat, I started over. I used ericulous suggestion and did directional hitting.
Took a while and needed a game where Trevor rogers didn’t pitch, but got it!!
Thanks all.

I don’t know. Finished Cincy map yesterday. Halfway thru TA East map tonight. Feel like I’m hitting in the deadball era. Fortunately, so is the CPU.
LOTS of lazy fly balls to the OF. LOTS.
Haven’t seen this posted anywhere. If already done so, I apologize.
Looks like SDS added a repeatable PXP mission fir Charisma players.
1500 for 10 points!
No more mandatory showdown.
I’ve been playing DD for 3 years now. Each year my goal is to complete all Collections, not collect all cards. I’m offline only and I honestly don’t see how I’m going to finish. I’m OK grinding and I’m OK not finishing until December. Again, I just don’t see how I’m going to finish. And that’s disappointing.
In ‘21, it seemed every time I did “ something” in DD, I got a card for a Collection. That doesn’t happen this year. Every time I took a stronghold in Conquest, I got a pack of something. That is no longer the case. I seem to play many nights this year and at the end, I have little in DD to show for it.
IMO, they’ve made Conquest more difficult, they’ve made vs CPU more difficult. Same with Moments(if that’s possible). Just about every aspect of the offline experience is less “relaxing” and more difficult.
To get a couple of Easter Eggs, I played two Event games and a Ranked game. I got a bunch of something’s for Collections then!
I’ve said this before, SDS is nudging/encouraging us to play online. I’m not sure why.
I give SDS credit for trying something different this year, but it should be clear from Community feedback that what they are trying is not satisfying.
Offline only player. The game is EXTREMELY grind-y, for very little worthwhile rewards.
I mean, I just passed 420k in this program. I got 2000 stubs! That is ridiculous for being 65% of the way thru the program. How about a 100k subs? Now, that’s a reward to grind for.
They need to return to the 2021 model for rewards. Seemed like every time I played, I got something worthwhile for a Collection.
I don’t want something for “free”, but I do want something Collection worthy for grinding.
2000 stubs ain’t cutting it.
I am a directional/timing hitter exclusively. I played online enough to get the Easter Eggs from earlier in this season.
I won a RS game in extra innings. But got destroyed in 2 Events games and 2 BR games. I mean hammered to no end.
When I play versus CPU, I find that if I swing at anything out of the strike zone, I miss. Even with “good” feedback, if it’s too high, too low, or outside, it’s a miss!
So, yeah, I’m not sure I have an advantage!
The low and away slider is my Achilles heel with same side pitchers.
I flail away so so so early a lot!!
I mean, we have to give SDS credit where credit is due…
If they read this forum for even 10 minutes, they’ve heard that we want all the various modes in DD to play consistently.
Well, they listened. Conquest now plays like Showdown.
Thanks,SDS!
@samguenther1987_PSN yes, definitely! Along with this, I notice the following:
I’ll be tracking an item, looking at latest transactions. I’ll see that they are few, a couple of buy/sells over a couple of hours.
I put in an order. SUDDENLY, that particular item is in fire . Lots of buy/sells out of nowhere. It’s uncanny.
The LS (82) Anthony Rendon card just hits homer after homer for me. Absolute missiles.
Pretty straightforward. And I’m not a showdown guy at all. Drafted all players each round with the highest power vs right handers Regardless of position. There is no pitching in this one , so you can play the hitters anywhere. Do not take any pitching perks. Again, no pitching in this one.
Each round, except one, is to face a version of halladay. I found the 2nd one the hardest. Down three with basically your weakest lineup. I got down to under 5 outs on that one. Next to last one, you face Hamels, down 2 or 3, but a guy on base and 12 outs, I think, to win.
The last one was against 97 halladay. Down 1 with 20 outs to go. First pitch, first batter (springer) hit a hanging slider for a homer to tie game. Second batter, first pitch (Mullins) hit a low fastball in the RF seats! Two pitches for the W!!
Easy!!
