This game desperately needs chapter 2 of team affinity to be knocked out of the park. I just don’t have nearly the same urge to hop on this game as I have in the past years, and I think it boils down to these chronic problems:

1. All the cards you can grind for are just so bad. Would it kill SDS to put some competitive cards in events and let us battle it out for them?

2. All the good cards Are way too far away, 280 cards to collect and 1 million XP is just way too much.

3. The biggest reason is the fact that they kept the seasons concept, knowing that at least 90% of our cards will be wiped in June just kills the motivation to grind for those big rewards in my opinion.

4. No new game modes, no big new legends, and it seems like everywhere you look in this game, They are stunting your ability to gain stubs and XP. It’s like they are giving you a reason to log off the game.

A) Sets and Seasons with a long TA3 Grind

B) The option to quit and accept a loss when your opponent's controller runs out of battery

I think B is still the dumbest thing I've ever encountered, but A is close.

@suzypuff14 Better questions is what is there to grind for in this game period?

Ranked rewards are worth like 7K and 17K, and they get you 0.3% of the way to one of the 99 collection legends cards that will expire a few days after you unlock them.

THey stunt our XP and rewards everywhere, live series was killed....they've watered down everything in the game.

W’s:

• Hitting is the best it’s been in the 4 years I’ve played The Show️ It finally feels like input matters. Love the hit variety and I haven’t noticed many, if any off PCI HR’s.

• Content: I Think they nailed the concept of offering a choose your own adventure for content, I can totally see the pros and cons of going for big collections as well as purchasing set one cards now, there will certainly be a variety of cards being used!

• Servers: I haven’t been disconnected at all. Knock on wood.

L’s:

• too many Perfect / Perfect outs. I don’t need or want a home run or hit every single time, but the amount of liners directly into an infielders glove as well as the maximum power perfect fly out to the warning track simply happen too often, if they could reduce the amount of perfect perfect outs by about 10 to 15% then I think hitting would be as close to perfect as we could ask for

• iOS app not being updated…seriously!!??

Nitpicking / Annoying tweaks I would love:

• I think they should really increase the amount of wild cards to one pitcher and one hitter slot, having both wildcard slots would soften the blow of so many cards from set one dropping off in July. Honestly, I would even be fine with two hitting and two pitching wildcard slots but I know that is pushing it!

• The set 1 collection rewards (Ruth, Jones and Martinez) should be core cards. If we’re collecting 150+ cards and or locking in a bunch of stubs those cards should be usable all year! Personally, I would be focusing all my stubs on the set one collection if I knew I could keep Babe Ruth and Pedro Martinez for the whole year.

• we should be able to repeat show down at least three times for team affinity. Call me a lazy old complainer, but I do not have the patience to do multiple mini seasons for the vouchers, we should have the option to complete showdown a couple more times per division if we have the skill to do so.

Overall the game is a BLAST so far. So much to do and I haven’t even done the Negro league stuff or ballplayer grind.

Grade: A-

The changes they made to TA XP has helped a bit, but IMO its still way too much of a time sink. I'm doing it for TA2 because I'm enjoying the game overall, and Randy is a one-of-a-kind player that I'm willing to grind for.

With that being said, there's a 0.01% chance I do this much PXP grinding / Moments for Topps Now all over again for season 3 and beyond.

Solutions -

1) Bring back the old exchange format. Let us clean out all the dupes we have in our binders.

2) Front load the captains in each TA set so we get them all within 40% of completion. At least this way we can have them in our lineups sooner to get the PXP done. It's brutal finishing 1-2 at a time and then barely unlocking another.

Agreed. The defense and pitching on rookie is absurd / rigged!!!!!

The twitch stream was cringe too. Trying to hype up our 4th and 5th versions of the same players we have to grind all over for again. Makes 0 sense.

Hopefully when they move to current gen (PS5 only) we'll get a new hitting engine and real graphics.

@go4stros25 Legit, I have done all of that and reached the XP maximum and I'm still 20K XP away from the first choice pack. And they expect us to do this all over again twice more this season

A lot of the changes are minimal and overall this game just seems like a 23.5 patch update:

The Good:

1. Grind how you want: You can grind programs on or offline, repeat showdowns / missions. Finally!

2. the 4 wild cards: This is something we should have had last year

3. Hitting feels great so far (still a ton of P/P outs, but so be it)

The Bad:

1. Ranked unchanged again, so bland and boring, stub rewards for reaching next division are just sad for the 5th year in a row

2. Co-Op untouched!?: No improvements to freezing or the crappy gold cards

3. Awful legend class, Beltre is all we got !?

The Ugly

1. Bright screens blinding me

2. TA Grind...you can do conquest, a showdown and monents and not reach even 1 of the 89 overall cards

• You would need to complete TA Showdown 120 times to complete Chapter 1 for all divisions LOLOLOL

3. Servers down

4. Live Series rewards massacred

I ain't reading all that, but IMO this game is crashing quickly...theres no good way to make stubs, rewards are awful in each mode, and all XP progressions seems stunted.

Most people will just stop playing because the grind is relatively pointless and you'll feel like a hamster mindlessly grinding in a wheel.

Personally, I'll play some events here and there and just rent eligible event players from the Marketplace.

1. No Gamepass means servers will be less clogged and won't crash as often (hopefully).

2. We don't have to hear all the gamepass people mention they have gamepass over and over. They're like Vegans. BYE!

Yup, everyone here confirms what im thinking, they’re pitching it as “consolidation” but this is basically a removing of rewards.

Events were my favorite mode and now they’re even less important than before…this is the first big L of the ‘25 DD news cycle but man is it an uppercase Big L.

I think content is going to be a FAT W. Looking back on the past few years, I'm excited to kind of skip the grind for lower tier cards. It's like having end game cards all year and you get a 75% card reset each season.

It's like we're getting 3 different mini content cycles but the core cards provide a % of consistency. Wish we had a wild card slot for pitcher AND hitter. Maybe they'll add that.

15 pitches? My Ohtani was out of energy after 9 in an event game. What a joke !!

There's almost no point to playing online with the current state of foul balls. It's more RNG than ever.

If I swing "very early" on a ball a foot off the plate, I should strike out. Add in the off PCI comeback homeruns and what's the point of playing online. Against any half decent opponent, pitching is 90% a roulette spin right now.

Simply not fun!

Weekend league opens only at the last 4 days of each ranked seasons.

Ranked, BR and Events are all one program combined.

Team Affinity is back, they say new but I don't see what's different other than its each team and not entire divisions?

This game seems like MLBTS 20 remastered (which is fine w me) but no major changes that I can tell.

That’s the other thing, I hate the ping pong stage of going back and forth. My next game will likely be on all star, then if I win, back to HOF. Going back in forth makes it even harder to get into a rhythm.
