This has been my biggest frustration with the game this year is pitching, they never call pitches that are on the corners strikes and perfect input means it’s less of a crapshoot where the ball ends up but still a crapshoot.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, perfect input should always result in the pitch going where it was put, the only variable should be the ease or difficulty of perfect input. A pitcher with excellent control should have an easier meter or analog then a pitcher with bad control and that should be the only thing that determines where a pitch goes. If perfect input is not achieved I understand but if it is that pitch [censored] well better go where I put it.

Since when does a real man call names and whine and complain??
I’ve got kids, wife, job and maybe an hour to play at night but I would never dream of stomping my feet and pouting.
Toughen up my friend. -
I wouldn’t say necessarily that it’s a steaming pile. But the game does have some glaring issues. One of the bigger ones for me is pitch speed, pitches on the corners not being called strikes forcing people to throw in the middle of the zone and poor pitch location when the meter is green (or in the marker for analog).
Hitting should just have been left alone and just made an adjustment to pitch speed and again have pitches that are strikes called strikes. -
The runners on the bath path run around like they’re drunk half the time. Then you’ll have two runners going to the same base , they can’t seem to read liners on the bat properly or take an appropriate lead so they’re not turning back as the balls landing and the batter is 5 ft behind. What a mess!!!

So the other day we went back and forth over a post in regard to this years hitting. Long story short we ended up playing a game and he won the game handily.
The reason for this post though is a compliment to the community and most of its players and why sports is such a great thing. He was a class act and the game was enjoyable, I don’t often play on legend and was overmatched but the game was played like a real game from both sides. It’s fun to have differences of opinions, settle them through competition and hopefully both come away having learned something new.
I’ve enjoyed for years playing The Show and what the forum has to offer and as always trying to learn something and improve. For a large part this forum is not toxic (like some like to claim) and actually offers a lot of helpful advice and good conversation unlike many other game forums. Stay well all. -

Oh, and making us hit / pitch on missions where it doesn't matter... that too
This one.....

Dear SDS I dont know how you are producing the live stream but please do so in a safe manner that follows all required public health guidelines.
You act like there aren’t millions of people doing their jobs across America having to take the same precautions. It’s a live stream they’re not having a New Year’s Eve bash in New York City together. Most places are working entirely from video chat, I’m honestly surprised this is the first stream they’ve done since before the game came out.

I have played the show for the last 4 years, 18 was a debacle but this year isn’t far off. When playing I’m left with this feeling that what is input to the game just doesn’t make sense to me. This isn’t a winning vs losing thing it’s an overall satisfaction thing. I win the majority of my games but the experience does not feel authentic or gratifying.
Fielding- Extreme catch was supposed to replace funky shoelace catches by subpar fielders and put it in the users hands to have to execute properly however extreme catch almost never comes up and scrub fielders still make highlight reel plays without any user input. Bad fielding outfielders also track down far to many balls that are headed to the gap or over their heads. Players booting routine grounders is confounding, errors should predominantly come from a user input error NOT a random fielder cpu error. If you don’t use button accuracy then you have no argument on throwing errors by cpu.
Hitting- It just doesn’t seem to add up half the time with input vs results. Timing windows seem off where I feel like I’m way early or way late, 19 I felt like the timing windows made sense this year they do not. It’s creating a whoever hits more solo homeruns wins much like 18.
Pitching- Almost as frustrating as fielding. Pitches that are perfect on input do not go where they were put and that makes no sense. Balls that are 50% in the zone or more have to be called strikes otherwise you’re forced to through in the meat of the zone to get strikes rather than being rewarded for dotting a pitch perfectly on the edge.I realize that everyone’s experience is different and I try not to create an opinion based off wins and losses because that should have nothing to do with analyzing its playability. Bottom line for me is the game doesn’t feel right, it just seems off on all phases, like it’s still in its beta form and not final form ready for shelves. The whole game feels incomplete.

One of those games where you feel like what else am I supposed to do. Lose the game 3-1 which is fine, you win some you lose some. But through the course of the game I felt like I was executing and doing the things that needed to be done without the results following.
So after the game I looked at the hit label which I almost never do and decided to just break down some numbers. I counted label type from 7-10, I out hit the guy I was playing 29-15 in that regard and on 8 and above 20-7. Also I struck him out 20 times to only striking out three times however every hit he had was a solo homerun.
Like I said, I’m not mad or don’t think the game has it out for me but as a gamer how else are you supposed to win a game if all of that results in a loss? On with the grind I suppose.
-
Diving catches everywhere, first and third baseman spearing 107 mph line drives and sometimes when the infield is in, even had the first baseman dive and catch a 108 mph line drive with the infield in.
In every mode this game has the defense tracks down to many balls but showdown is where they really save the insanity for its highest peak.
Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I want to break the controller, all in a days work I suppose. -
When you have that beautiful josh bell card why would you pick Carlos cheater Correa from 2017!! It’s completely tone deaf imo and a card under no circumstances will I use. Blown away that he would be the top reward and I could care less he’s free it’s still bizarre.
On the bright side the Phillies have gotten mad love this year!

Make sure to liquidate any assets and buy them back at a largely reduced price after the new content drops tomorrow. Anytime there is a major content drop prices will take a significant plummet as people free up stubs to buy the new cards that are available.

If you stop it in the green the pitch should go where you dotted it, if you want to compensate for pitchers that are better or worse simply make the meter go faster for worse pitchers or analog move faster for users that use that interface.
Also if the umpires called strikes that were on the black of the plate more often we wouldn’t have to throw the ball right down the middle to get someone to swing.
Good input should be rewarded for both pitching and hitting and please CALL STRIKES ON PITCHES THAT ARE IN THE ZONE!!!!! -
I read these posts and the OP’s pov is often spoken as if it translates to the entire base. I would venture that most people don’t have a problem, if I recount from the players tourney most seemed to have no issue with the gameplay aside Snell wanting a more challenging setting for the difficulty.
Also any opinion of the game attached to wins or loses is immediately thrown out as far as I’m concerned, if someone wants to give unbiased thoughts not attached to ‘my opponent’ this or ‘ I squared up everything’ that than I will listen.
Point is the gameplay isn’t terrible as a whole but there are some really bad aspects to the game. I would list base running as a runaway #1 and the lightning quick unrealistic double plays as second. My third would be pitches not going where they were spotted on perfect input. -

So I just played an event game this morning and the difference was night and day (No pun intended). Last night, I had to gear up to swing before the ball was even released. This morning, I could actually sit back, see the break, and then swing. This is a huge problem. It’s like playing a completely different game. I don’t mind losing. In fact, I can lose with the best of them, but this is ridiculous. Last night, I was averaging 0 runs a game. This morning I put up 8 and the guy quit mid flight on a grand slam to make it 12. Granted, this morning those hits could have easily been line outs, but this morning I was in it and I had a chance, and I did nothing differently in relation to last night.
Sounds like you went from playing when you were tired at night to rested in the morning. There’s a reason people are more productive in the morning, it’s when your brains the freshest. Don’t overthink it my man, also might’ve caught someone else who stinks at the game in combination. But no one tweaked the game overnight, lol.
I was playing around 8 eastern time and felt fresh as a daisy. But I am telling you there was a difference in speeds from last night till this morning. I don’t think someone is tweaking the game. I do think connection disparities create elevated pitch speeds. And the person I played this morning had a 33-0 ranked seasons record, which means what it means, or it means nothing at all, but the person was pretty decent. And I understand people can be off or tired and that can affect gameplay, but I’ve played enough to know that this experience was not the result of that.
They definitely need to can the p2p connections, it’s so outdated and does affect gameplay.

There you go, check it out.I’ve had this happen maybe once so I can’t understand how you’ve been plagued so bad. Also they’ve fixed it and since I’ve had no problems.
The pitching to me is the biggest issue. Perfect does not result in perfect placement so that is confounding and balls that are 50% in the zone not being called strikes is a real problem.
On the hitting side of things it is too much like HR derby at times with few runs coming from hits and that extreme catch meter hardly ever comes up. -
I was under the impression this year would be showcasing a lot of the players that a large group of the players here watched growing up. Instead it’s been mostly the same old guys rolled out from yesteryear.
Here are some suggestions:
- Juan Gonzales
- Ruben Sierra
- Ron Gant
- Darren Daulton
- Ray Lankford
- Cecil Fielder
- David Justice
- Manny Ramirez
- Mo Vaughn
- Randy Johnson
- Pedro Martinez

Popups galore, seriously EVERY other out seems like a popout. It’s homer or bust for most of the scoring if not all most games. Just a terrible gaming experience right now. I would go into more detail but it’s so obvious who needs to.
-
I’ve been saying this for weeks now, it forces people to throw balls in the fat part of the zone. I would even be OK if the ball is 50% in the zone it’s a strike anything less than that it is not. But right now unless 98% of the ball is in the zone it is not a strike. There is no ability to dot a pitch or paint a corner.

That MTO thing was so over powered
I don’t get why everyone is whining, it wasn’t at all proportionate. Agreed on the other things, major improvement.
Serious Question: What's the point of different stats for pitchers if all of their pitches end up over the middle of the plate, despite perfect inputs on multiple modes?
Listen up Real Men ...
I can’t believe how bad this game is now
Of all the things that need work the baserunning is GARBAGE!
