Constant “Network Error” is killing this game for me
-
I have seen other threads about people constantly getting booted with the generic “Network Error.” This is NOT an internet problem on my end — none of my other devices are losing their connections, and I’m looking directly at the solid green dots on my router when this error happens. I can only get through maybe 15 minutes at a time before I get disconnected. Unbelievably frustrating.
Has anyone found any solutions or workarounds for this problem? All the threads and tweets I have read basically say SDS hasn’t responded or been even the least bit helpful.
Gameplay is in a terrible place, but I love this game so much that I’m willing to lose games due to broken fielding. But I am NOT willing to keep losing games due to network errors. I’ve only played 7 RS games (!!!) this year, and I can’t even get through Conquest or Showdown anymore (on that note ... why do I need an internet connection for Conquest and Showdown???).
I have enjoyed MtO, but after playing through with my 2 fave teams, the only reason why I would do it again would be to get a free FotF card. But if they don’t fix this network problem, I have no reason to care about my DD squad. And that means there’s no chance I would drop another penny on stubs. So right now I’ve basically got RttS and, like, Retro Mode.
I know this problem seems to be affecting a small subset of us, but it is unbelievably frustrating. SDS ... please!!! Fix this!!!!

Never had this problem. This is a user connection problem

What’s it like to live with way too much confidence and way too little understanding?

I’m having the exact same issues. I’ve lost countless games due to network errors. My router is fine with no other issues, so I just roll the dice Now and hope I don’t get the network error.

I got two last night, but I think it's because I went back to a wired connection. For some reason, when I'm wired, I'll occasionally get disconnected. Never happens on wireless. I don't get it. I had moved my TV arrangement in my living room and decided to give wired another shot (less distance the signal travels through the cord because of the change). When I do a connection test, I get much better speeds than when I'm on wifi. But for some reason (if anyone can explain, I'd love to hear it) I get disconnects at times with the wired connection. Almost never on wifi (but again, I get less speed).

I have only been using WiFi. I actually considered trying out a wired connection to see if it was any better, but if you have more success with WiFi than wired then that night or work.
Question: are you using a digital version of the game or do you have the physical disc? This is the only digital download I have on ps4 and it’s the only game that can’t keep a connection. I never had this problem last year when I used the disc (or with any other game)

Is it a blue screen that comes up out of the blue?

I don’t get a blue screen. It just disconnects and says something like “Network Error” and “You have been disconnected from The Show Online” or something along those lines

Try resetting ur router I got a blue network error one game up 7-0 in 8th even tho didn’t lose WiFi and got the L was so mad
-
I dont get a blue screen, and I've reset my router multiple times in the past.

I just got the “network error” thing where it closes the game and gives you the loss. What the heck is that? What is going on? I even got one of those fancy disconnect rituals. I was in the middle of a pitch when it happened.

A few things.
1: SDS servers aren’t in a good place as of late.
2: Sony cheap’s out on their NIC cards. It’s not our home network that’s the issue here.

This has happened to me at least 20 times in the last two weeks. It’s NOT my network. ALL of my other devices work fine. SDS, stop being the armpit of online gaming. You keep releasing fancy content but ultimately you are polishing a [censored]!!!

Yes sir. Im.sure over the past 2 iterations you've seen me post regarding this Dogface. Bigger part of what you said is SDS not addressing it at all.. I've had it one day and emailed, they emailed back said "Looking into it but losses cant be reversed ". Very well aware over the last 2 as well. Well they never got back to anything and haven't addressed it all on here. To those who dismiss and say " user error" or whatever close-minded nonsense, Im hard wired from a Orbi Mesh. Not the case. Back to you God ,(Method Man Voice) yet another well said and thought out post.. Something I'm incapable of because I've been saying the same thing, not in those words. Frustration like I've felt come from your soul with this nice little editorial. SDS should hire us to run the commentary and topics. Those of a certain cloth that is indeed rare, super rare if just reading The Nation as a whole.

i dont get why someone has to get a loss for it, its not like i quit out of the game. they should just void network error games, at least that would take the sting away a little bit

There lies the fine line in all of this. Opponents get pissy when you don’t say yes to friendly quit. You chose to play in Ranked. Didn’t get the result you wanted? Tough. Handle it like an adult.
I had a game in hand the other night and every 2-5 mins the game would just freeze in the middle of a thrown pitch. Then I’d hear the sound of the bat hit it, 3-5 seconds later it was sitting on the base of the wall. Another few seconds I’d see it was actually an out. Then the game disconnects and I get the L.
It wasn’t my home network, ISP or a bad cable. I work in IT Security for a living and I know my home network speed and gear inside and out.
However, this much is true - it is both the fault of SDS’s poorly configured server infrastructure and the cheap NIC card that Sony chose to put in the PlayStation console. None of these instances should result in a loss.
If friendly quits are accepted as a wash, then server disconnects should result as if the game was never played. There is no other way to put that.

It's their servers. It's not your internet connection. It's not that you are getting disconnected due to losing wifi or wired internet connection, it's their servers kicking you for a network error on their end. It's happened to me before but extremely rare and honestly not this year. I've played about 250 ranked season games and countless other games on various online modes. Not once did I get a network error or blue screen and when connection drops it's me getting the win so it's on their end. I don't know exactly what would cause you to be having these problems but in my opinion you are extremely entitled to getting a direct answer from SDS and than trouble shooting help. For someone who bought the game and the game not working due to their servers you are entitled to your money back if they can't help you fix it. As I've said it's definitely not a internet issue on your end. They need to identify the problem for you and tell you what needs to be done to fix it. It is definitely frustrating and it's not even as though you're requesting much. I typed what I did in hopes that Colin or Victor or whomever step up and at least comment on this thread since you know someone at SDS has read it because they monitor the forum. Good luck.

Hello, IT, have you tried turning it off and on again?
