Today's Event Rewards - Get Your daily recommended allowance of Yankees

@Teak2112_MLBTS I like the idea, but the offline grind needs to harder and bot-proof.
Your idea would have a whole lot of bots churning mini seasons, and immediately selling rewards. Suddenly that nice online reward is owned by....everyone...and worth 5500 stubs.
-
I don't think its a bad idea either, but it would lead to soooo many complaints from people if they had to actually play a 28 game mini season.

Its a choice, you could earn the cards through online or offline play. 2 options are better than 1. Yes, some people would kneejerk complain without looking at the full picture (like the person saying SDS lied about new modes when they did not) but most people would understand choice of options is typically better than no choice of options
The complaints would come more from the people upset their card is worth less stubs and that the events are no longer worth it.

I personally have zero issue with the concept of online reward being sellable, but the offline one being no sell. Yes, the event card would take a hit in value in that scenario, but many people would still rather pay 10-20k for a card than grind a full mini season for it so there would be some market for the cards still. Rewind packs are already keeping the value down pretty effectively.

It feels like we're constantly seeing the exact same franchises get favored year after year. If the developers are going to release a Dennis Eckersley card, how about a World Series Joe Oliver or Kirk Gibson to balance it out?
What the game really needs is a "World Series Unsung Heroes" program. Stop giving us the same superstars and shine a light on the guys who unexpectedly caught fire in October. Give us a 1990 Billy Hatcher, a 2011 David Freese, Pat Borders, Gene Tenace, or Scott Spiezio. There is so much great baseball history out there being ignored just to cater to a few big-market teams.

I agree with you, more choices is a good thing, and I'd be totally fine with an idea like this being implemented. I just also know that we would see tons of complaints about being "forced" to play 28 games. Even when choices are given, it'll never be enough for most people. This is why we're stuck with such dumbed down content drops now where everything is boring and the same and can be completed in an hour.

Disagree. If anything there are less online cards in this years game than in the past. No BR cards, event cards not in every event, and one multiplayer program.
Also all multiplayer cards are available on the market and are not expensive. Lots of rewind packs keep them low and ranked World Series is easier to get to when lowered to 800 last year.
If anything more cards hid behind single player content such as mini seasons and conquest that you were forced to play with no way of earning through the market.
The game is trying to cater more to the offline players the last few years with more and new modes while making online shorter and easier to obtain.
Remember when events the only way to obtain the cards was to win like 20 games?
-
@virusts_PSN agreed. But, grinds of any kind dont really exist anymore - offline or online. Team affinity is basically cancelled. Most programs are super short. The inning path is short with nothing on it. The multiplayer path can be completed in about one day of event playing, if you can score runs at a reasonable pace. And so on.

The game this year is doing a pretty terrible job of catering to offline players.
They made the game less fun to play with the changes to CPU pitching, removed TA, and made inning drops for online players only (no conquest/miniseasons, only weekend classic).
Further, xp is heavily skewed for online play to the point where you needed over 100 hours in the second inning to complete the inning as an offline only player. Yes, its been better since then but its still skewed
Those cards they "added" to offline modes? Those were NO SELL cards that in the past would have been in the programs, not some bone they were throwing offline players.
For all the issues 2K has, you know how many online exclusive cards it has? Zero. Instead they let you earn the cards via either offline or online play.
-
At the end of the day I just wish the game played like it did a few years ago (most online players seem to agree with that sentiment) and I want TA, or a similar type of meta content, back. I want to look forward to inning drops.
Even this new mini season that dropped today...I'm not going to play it yet because most of the post season cards aren't even out, but its just pack after pack of low rng. Why not drop choice packs? Let me feel like I am earning something besides more stubs for the pile.

Waaaa Waaaa the Yankees have cards! Not fair!

I don't care that the Yankees have the most cards. With their history and past success, they deserve it. It happens every year.
What I have always hated is the discrepancy between them and the other teams. They currently have 13 more cards than the team in 2nd place and 26 more than the team in 3rd place. They have 54 more cards than the team in last place
So, mock me if you will. If it makes you feel superior somehow then go for it, but it won't stop me from advocating for a little more balance.

They should go back to 16 or 17 parameters where pitching speed was the same on Rookie or Legend but as you moved up the PCI would get smaller. Where is my 99 Teddy or 99 Bagwell? Seriously a 99 Pudge is a terrible card because his swing has always been shite.

I cant dislike the direction of putting more cards in online programs more strongly. The Show continues to move in the wrong direction.
I didn't mind that much when we also got reward cards in offline modes and they were sellable (just like the online cards).
I prefer that there be offline ways to earn these cards. I play no money spent. I don’t want a bunch of cards at 1 million stubbs.
