Perfect Hits For Outs
-
It could just be me, but i have experienced SO much perfect hits for outs. Whether its a lineout to 2nd or 3rd, a popfly, or a foul ball out its all been seen lol.. Its been offline, and online and mostly in the veteran and all star difficulties. Ive noticed myself having zero issues in Diamond Quest against zone sweepers but when it comes to veteran moments or just all star difficulties in co-op play, the game just feels like it wants to play differently. I understand timing is everything when it comes to difficulty changes, and im just not understanding where i would be going wrong, or doing something differently.

You aren’t doing anything wrong. The amount of perfect perfect hits that magically warp right to gloves is one of the many things wrong with gameplay this year. It’s always been an issue but this year is far worse.
-
Beonze and silver card shortstops with warp speed that come out of no where that make spectacular diving stops behind second base are nothing less than infuriating.
-
This is just something I’ve gotten used to. It’s brutal. The one that happens to me most often is a line out to second with a lefty hitter. Happens even if I’m slightly under the ball, should be a tank but instead it’s a line out to second.
It’s certainly annoying but I’ve just gotten used to it. I’ve also had hundreds of “bad PCI” home runs so it evens out.
-
Oh yeah for sure. Ratings don’t seem to matter for CPU players.

I swear everytime I hit a perfect perfect in the moonshot event it’s an out. It’s been horrible all year but seems exasperated in the moonshot event. I don’t care what reason they give , trying to make it more realistic, it’s not realistic it’s a video game, it’s hard to square the ball up perfectly, especially on higher difficulties. If you hit a ball perfectly and square it up it should be a bomb or at least a hit. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve hit the ball perfectly , just slightly under the ball (as you need to be to get it to leave) and it’s a line drive to the 2bman or 3bman.

Everyone in this thread is right. But, this is one of the few issues where I dont know if theres a good fix. Let's take moonshot event - you'd never get an out against some players if they rewarded good inputs like you're asking.
At least on all star or hof difficulty, there are plenty of players who can get near-perfect pci's 90 percent of the time.
A solution would be to make pitching tougher, so that perfect pci is way more rare. But, this game is already very hard for most people, so thats not realistic.

I agree, but then you'd need to reward bad contact a bit more. Not every single base hit is a perfect perfect screamer. It sucks because there's really no perfect fix for the problem.
For me, I'd say they need to introduce a new attribute: DSPD- Defensive speed. This would prevent Anthony Santander or Kyle Schwarber from turning into the Flash in the outfield where they constantly run down sinking gappers.
OR simply scale the outfields properly.
-
I think the later would be a good start. The Schwarber all of sudden becoming PCA on sinking fly balls where in real life Schwarber type players play it on the second or third hop probably is more infuriating then the warp speed SS. At least most SS are more speedier and more agile.

@Sarge1387_PSN agreed. There are lots of good partial fixes...
-
Reduce home runs - increase doubles and triples (make the outfield scale up in DD so that these androids cant run everything down). The game breaks when everyone is 99 at everything - needs new metric
-
Reduce foul balls - increase weak in-play contact.
-
Make fielding a bigger challenge - make it an actual part of the game that affects results. Pitching too. Right now, the game is really only about batting - or more specifically "who can hit home runs most often".

I think the perfect perfect range is too large at Lower levels like all-star and below. You can be way over the ball and still get a perfect perfect contact then ground out for an easy out. I find more success at HOF and Legend online with perfect swings than the other difficulties because of the small window of a perfect swing. So the ball is usually in the gaps or home run
