I find the parallel mod system flawed

They talk big with statements like you throw a power mod on him and he's dangerous.
Let's look at 92 Ozzie Smith
Default power 45/60
Parallel 5 with no mod 50/65
Parallel 5 with diamond power mod 54/69I don't find that to be a game changer, but before you even think abou using that mod you have to hit 20 HRs with him. I have 6 in 140 at bats. Why? Because he has low power.
How about 99 Alec Burleson. Slow as molasses at 41 speed and 9 steal. Just use the pure speed mod on him so you can get him to 61 speed and 29 steal. Sounds like a nice +20 boost but to get that you need to steal 30 bases with this slow card with next to no steal rating
At this point I might just use the standard boosts unless I am missing something.

I haven’t spent much time trying to make sense of the parallel mods system because the exact reasons you stated. The concept sounds nice but it’s implementation is nothing less then another turddd to avoid. I’m sure you’re looking at it again because they slipped in an announcement last week about revamping it. But, AFAIK it’s still a pointless and confusing waste of time. At the very least, I wish there was better communication about it, like from the live weekly show, because the buried blog post announcing the updated system didn’t clear anything up. It sounds to great to add more power to players like Willie McGee or Ozzie smith who are maxed out in other areas or speed to big hitters but alas, you aren’t going to steal 40 bases with power hitters to obtain that mod just like you aren’t hitting 40 home runs either Willie McGee. It might be possible to get the homerun after spending more time than it’d be worth, but the stolen bases won’t happen. Taking the normal +1 or attributes of fine and trying to tinker with it will only cause frustration or confusion. (Kind of like the coding for this game that has been been expanded on for so long that any adjustment or additional changes throws everything off to the point you wish to just go back to how it was before it was tinkered with…)

Actually, I was looking at it because I got the 92 Ozzie to P5 and wondered about adding the power mod to that card only to realize thatI needed 14 more Home Runs for essentially a 4-point boost over the default boost with no mod.
Speed seems like the only one possibly worth it (I did not look at fielding) but it is not going to turn a slow runner into a base stealer.

I agree. +9 power on Ozzie does nothing for me. Make it +12-15. Do a red diamond mod. 0 fielding and arm. +15 power.
