How is the Community Market feeling? (5)

Appreciate all you do. Market looks better overall but still lots of weird things going on. Multiple cards posted at less than quick sell. Prime example currently is Jim Johnson on the Orioles. Multiple orders posted at 5001 stubs when quick sell is 5000. Taking a 500 stub loss per card on sometimes hundreds of orders makes zero sense unless something underhanded is going on. Please look into how often this keeps happening as I see it daily on multiple cards. Thanks again for all you do and have a great rest of your week.

I just got hit with the error “please wait 20 minutes before sending another marketplace request” which seems excessive
-
I tried to quick sell a live series Cristopher Sanchez using the app. A "processing" message was displayed and stayed but the sale did not go through.
-
I've already uninstalled / reinstalled the app a few times with the same result.

Now it’s 40 minutes. All I was doing this morning was casually flipping player cards. But now I can’t place an order at all even after waiting the allotted time @manu__sds_mlbts

Ok… a step in the right direction for sure. FWIW, here’s some initial feedback. Some “tests” in the past have had much more noticeable (and needed) impact on the marketplace very quickly. This “ultimate” filter, not so much. Based on my past experience, my thinking is that a fairly strict rate limiting rule is in place and is impacting bots and humans alike, removing the edge bots have with instant outbids but not much else. I’m not sure rate limits for all is going to help players much. It might be enough to block stub transfers from happening 24/7 on multiple items. The absence of bots will have a extremely noticeable impact on the marketplace due to the fact that all the cards hoarded by bots will be off the market along with all buy and sell bids that go with them. Even removing 20% of active bots currently in the marketplace would have a noticeable impact for all. Maybe the plan is to slow traffic down before eliminating bots in an attempt to limit the impact it will have on the marketplace and if not, maybe it should be. I hope I’m totally wrong, but that’s my initial read.
I’m experiencing a red error occurred notice after a few transactions. It seems like I’m hitting a rate limit but since no specific feedback is given I can only assume. I’m not sure what actions count towards, obviously placing a bid and deleting bids, but reloading bid sheet? Scrolling the market or completed transactions and loading more results? I have been trying to trigger this error again Also some bids I tried to delete would not register - nothing would happen, no error and unable to delete - most likely during a rate limit time but unsure since no feedback was received. Finally I got a notice saying to wait 10 minutes before making another transaction - so i thought I’d take that time to respond to this thread.

I tried selling the cards I purchased overnight when I woke up....let me post maybe 7 and then I got the "error occurred "so I logged out and back in and got the 10 min timeout, waited, tried when 10 mins was up tried to sell one card got 20 min timeout, have tried each time, got a 40 min 1hr and now I'm at 2 hr timeout. This is definitely worse then dealing with bots.
-
It’s because the app is likely the problem with bots to begin with and it’s one of the few ways to actually slow them down. Making all transactions console only might be the only way to offset the bot problem. I’d take console only transactions in a second if it meant the bots were neutralized. All those people flipping in the app while bored at work or school might just have to deal with it. After this year I’m ready for app transactions to go away for good.

Howdy,
Thank you for the feedback, it's precious when it originates from the power users.
There is no need to hide the fact that the "ultimate filter" is actually reCaptcha V3 - we decided that the strongest proof of integrity was the last step of this battle.
The numbers are golden:
Last 24 hours: 5,159 pass 653 block 219,003 invalidThis work is not done, but combining and refining reCaptcha and the other measures we have in place, will eventually heal the market.
Back to the whiteboard now, to fine-tune this.

Keep up the good fight brother.....Let me know when I can try selling again, because I'm already at 2 hrs, not trying to get a 4 hr timeout!!!

-
@TripleH-4481_PSN See brother I have alot of time on my hands right now, can't do much physically so the Show and the app is like my therapy!!

I only need 15 cards as of today, and I got there by flipping my [censored] off!!! Lol
I dont flip the hig value cards because then you're fighting with bots for 3 hours to sell 1 card that might net you 3k after they tank it down from the 15k you thought you'd make when you bought it.
I strictly stick to Commons, I'll buy 75 cards (20 of each one) at 9 stubs and sell for 200 -85 stubs, probably do this 5 times a day. I make 300k easy a day doing this, and I couldn't do half of that of I couldn't use the app.
I can do 20 orders of 75 cards on the app in the time it would take me to do 10 on the console, so the bots dont bother me, I can make more selling Commons then somebody fighting bots for 3 hrs to sell a 300k card for 3k profit.
So I sincerely would hate it if it went strictly console.

I’m now at 2 hours before I can use the app again even though I haven’t used it since 10am.
-
@Oliver230230230_PSN have you been able to use the app after your initial 10 minute restriction?
-
I was able to use it to place like 700 buy orders, but when I tired selling I got through maybe 20 before I got the "error occured" message again. I stopped until I hear from Manu cause I dont want to have another 2 hr timeout...lol
-
@Manu__SDS_MLBTS The bots seem to be attacking pipeline Max Clark, awards Pedroia, and egg hunt Cam Schlitter amongst others.
-
@Oliver230230230_PSN have you been able to use the app after your initial 10 minute restriction?
It did not work after the 10 min was up but I didn’t try again for a while and it worked then.
-
@Manu__SDS_MLBTS it sounds like you are seeing a difference on your end and that’s good. I have not had much time to poke around the market today and the little time I do have has been cut short with error notices. But I’m not complaining about it. Not to get too technical, is recapcha just weeding out bad traffic from web browsers or is there some kind of integrity check happening with connections from the app that are getting a pass/fail token before successfully interacting with api? I haven’t seen a recaptcha pop up in the app, but maybe some kind of integrity check is happening? Is that what is causing the timeouts or errors? Or is there rate limiting also in place? Last question, you mentioned last phase being integrity check or something, is this the last step in the 1,2,3 stage push you mentioned at the start of the week?

Well it let me do maybe 60 sell orders and then gave me a 3 hr timeout. It would really help if I knew why it was doing that. I even slowed down on placing orders which I hate so much, I can do 20 orders in 30 seconds, but I have to make it take 2 minutes for every card I do 20 orders on? Why does how fast I hot "finalize" make me a bot? I can't do 500 orders in 30 seconds like they do so it should be pretty easy to tell.
-
So is the speed that I place my orders? How many orders I do in a certain amount of time? If so how many and what time frame? None of that should matter because I do everything on an android phone and dont break any TOS. You can use the app to buy and sell.....just dont buy or sell to much....oh and dont place orders fast either. It's really messed up I have to keep dealing with this because I'm fast at flipping and have alot of time on my hands right now.
