Cpu pitching harder?
-
I haven't noticed any differences.
-
CPU pitching is definitely harder this year. This is not debatable. If you are a patient hitter it won't feel any harder to you but for those of us just looking for the dopamine rush from getting hits it's harder. I can play patient but I find it boring so I lose my concentration for the meatballs. I'm fine with them Throwing dots just keep it in the zone on lower difficulties
-
Don't play the CPU unless it's on HOF. I promise you. Just try it.
-
What is with the Trade Deadline Min Seasons? 90% balls the rest are in on the hands or dotted. Are you proud of this product SDS ?
-
Yeah the CPU pitching just keeps getting worse. 1 hittable pitch per at bat at most. Otherwise it’s dots on the black or just off.
-
Its all meant to make the grind even harder than it is. You will also notice fly balls die in the outfield vs the cpu. And all their fielders have 99 field attributes. They never miss a play. All by design. Harder to earn stats and progress. Equals more money for them... who doesnt understand what they are doing at this point?
Time to call a spade a spade. We dont have to compare them to Ea. We just need to acknowledge their new management team is all about the greed. And they have ruined what used to be the best sports game if not the best game ever made.
-
100% agree with all. I’ve said it was by design for a while. Still ridiculous.
-
The problem is that people get bored of the constant grind (especially at this point in the season)- so they play impatiently and annoyed, and then of course you're gonna get frustrated.
Offline and cpu play should have more purpose than just "grinding method" (for both good players and not-so-good players)
-
I’ve noticed that offline the CPU feels absolutely juiced…like they’re pitching harder than the velo shows.
-
I agree, something feels really off playing the cpu. Also I have noticed the supersonic warp speed SS that come out of no where that robs base hits up the middle.
It seems that they pitch around certain players, ASG Judge is one for me, also Milestone Miggy. It seems like the RHBs get pitched around by RHP. RHP pitch to LHBs. The constant barrage of pitches outside the zone gets to absolutely no fun.

In Conquest on Veteran, pitchers be plotting & dotting! I miss a lot of cookies due to poor PCI placement. Almost always get 'Good' contact. Frustrating isn't the word. Hit into another scripted unassisted DP at 1st base as well in the TD/NT Conquest....."Line drive, caught!!! & a double play."
Never get those while we're on defense, strangely..... -
It has become pretty obvious that the system uses a system that can know where you are looking for a pitch, and to know if you are stealing. That keeps the cpu very much tougher to play against and allows perfect location and perfect defense plays for the cpu. The minute I push steal with a very slow runner on base it draws a throw to the base he is on. There would never be any idea that runner was even thinking of stealing.

@BirdmanMorin_PSN this. The cpu also knows where you are starting your pci. Notice they never pitch near where your pci starts. Ive been complaining about having to play so much offline this year to progress.

I noticed this when using ambush hitting. They either throw to the opposite side or they throw it out of the strikezone around the selected area.
-
Same if you use directional hitting, if try to pull with power bats, cpu pitches outside almost every pitch especially with players that are pull hitters. If you influence downward they pitch in dirt. I tried zone.to see if it's easier, nope like @spawnofditka_xbl said the cpu pitches opposite whereever I start my pci.
What's the point of playing when you can't ever get hittable pitches. Cpu pitches everywhere outside the strikezone.
Video games supposed to be fun, I mean it's a game afterall... right!? Right now it's anything but.
-
I get a lot of high breaking balls (sliders/curves/changes) when playing the CPU. Is there something to this? When I play a human, high breaking pitches are meatballs. With the CPU, they get ridiculously late break from above the strike zone that grazes the top corner. I don't recall ever seeing this vs CPU in the previous three renditions of the game. vs humans maybe if they threw an occasional high screwball.
-
Try changing the PCI / ambush placement once they start their pitching motion.
-
@DrBear100_PSN I swear these idiots think their player base is dumb. We are not!

It's somewhat better but it happens way more than it should. It is what it is, unfortunately. Something that needs to get used to. The barrage of pitches outside the strikezone is horrible. 1 games I got hit 3 times in a row and then the cpu walked in a run. That's how far SDS will stiffle extra base hits to limit XP progress..... BTW that's just a theory of mine anyways.

I've long had a little tin-foil hat suspicion that the CPU will actually manipulate the pitch en route to the plate if it calculates your probability of a well hit ball. I used to dismiss it as "I'm looking for a reason to blame my dogwater batting on"...but as I improved over the years and learned how to pick up on the pitches coming in I saw some weird stuff.
I can pick up on a curveball...it "jumps up" out of the pitcher's hand, but sometimes I'll be ready, and suddenly maybe 1/4 to 1/2 way to the plate the thing flattens out and blazes by me at 97. First thoughts were "ok, now I need to learn to pick up on a sinker"...but then remembered sinkers don't jump up out of the hand, they look like 4FSB until the very end when they dip. Like I said, tinfoil-esque...but I can't help but wonder
