They didn't even get a big enough haul. I think Skubal might have screwed them saying he wanted to be a Dodger, made other teams not waste their time, and killed LA's leverage.

The odds are that the Dodgers sign him in Free Agency but that is not guaranteed. So they are sending these prospects for only a few guaranteed months of Skubal.
No other club was probably willing to even give up that much afraid that they would simply lose him to the Dodgers in the off-season anyway

Why do all the top tier talent want to play in LA when they could play in KC?

There needs to be a hard cap and floor. Pretty ridiculous that the Dodgers payroll is as much as several teams combined. I don’t blame them them for going all in, but this can’t continue.

@GoozeFn_PSN I think a floor and no deferred contracts are the things that will fix a big part of the problem. I read yesterday that the Dodgers have a billion dollars in deferred deals... come on now. That's what allows for stupid contracts like the one given to Ohtani. Basically, paying him $2mil per season.
