Pitch speeds

Online is a [censored] show. Need better tech to be normal.
-
I like the pitch speeds on HOF the way they are. I'm on a monitor though. High fastballs should get blown by you if you aren't looking for it.
-
Yup. Played two games today. One I hit the **** out of the ball. Next game, 4 hits.
It’s weird.
-
I'm okay with the fast pitch speeds, but making contact more rewarding.
-
Just nerf the sinker and I'll be happy
-
3 inning event games that constantly go 6 or more inning because good/good won't get you a hit. Complete frustrating game.

Pretty much. Pitch speeds aren’t the problem for me, it’s the timing windows and the good/okay on squared up swings. That negates the skill gap they’ve created by making hitting more difficult.

Games would have a lot better outputs with more check swing called strikes and more strikes on the plate called strikes. Would change the entire face of hitting.
Check swings are fine.. if you go around it's called if you hold up than it's not called. Nothing wrong with that. However.. the 50/50 pitches that could go either way .. the ones painted right on the corners.. half in half out ... If they weren't called a ball every single time than it would change a lot. Players that can locate where the pitch is going to be and not have to protect against that 50/50 ball are near impossible to strike out.. so you have to pitch to contact and odds are the player is a good hitter too. You get these guys who take everything on the black and than a walk or two and a hit and your in for a long inning where if they called those pitches strikes half the time you wouldnt be in that position.

For me the pitch speed isn’t so much the issue. Although in fairness if I didn’t have a monitor and good internet I would be singing a different tune. To me the PCi is the problem. It is so [censored] small and you can miss by a hair or even worse by nothing and get dreaded good, okay. Plus the difference between good good and perfect perfect is almost indistinguishable on higher level.

That’s irrelevant, feedback is totally incorrect. You can pull or push the ball and get good timing feedback, you can place the ball in the centre of the pci and get okay location feedback. If you have time to watch this five minute video I made of hitting and pay attention to the swing feedback, you may see one or two that could potentially make sense. Most of the time it’s like I’m swinging a wet newspaper and when I do get a decent exit velo, it’s right at someone, even perfect/perfect. This is my experience with hitting this year.

I have great internet and a monitor and can't recognize or react to pitches quick enough in online AS play yet I can on legend in custom practice.

The event I was early on fastballs and rarely got blown away by a fastball even by Pearson and Kopech. All Star RS the last few days I haven't been able to react to a lot of fastballs. Those all star fastballs felt much faster than HOF event ones.

If I want to have any fun at all in this game then I am forced to use directional hitting. I watch all these youtubers somehow consistently put the pci right on the ball time and time again and even then they don't get rewarded enough imo. I don't know how they can react so fast yet only make subtle movements to the pci. I play on a monitor, I'm stuck in the lower series and still fast balls are a blur to me. Somehow slower sinkers seem faster than faster fast balls. When I'm using zone hitting and by some miracle put the pci right on the ball, it goes nowhere. I know just because you put the pci on the ball it doesn't mean it will be a HR, but when factoring in the rare chance I actually do both things right and still nothing good happens. It's like, what's the point.

This exactly!!!

I dont disagree. For me...the way I hit is that like look in a zone and anticipate fastball. Unless something slow creeps in that zone.
If a fastball comes in that zone I tee off. If a fastball goes come place else I lay off, foul off (if I am lucky), but generally miss if I swing.

I like pitch speeds, just wish they'd stop rewarding guys that sell out for a fastball every pitch

Pitch speeds in ranked are a total dice roll... You face kluber every game, so it's not a like the motion is throwing me off, one game I'm early on every sinker, the next game I'm late
That’s also because the game bounces between skill settings depending on who you play, very frustrating. I’m hoping with the addition of Xbox and Switch next year it’ll add to the player pool and maybe they can institute seasons where it’s just one difficulty setting based off what one you choose.

Exactly! To be able to time every fastballs is unrealistic and then me throwing a change up every single pitch until I see you sitting on the changeup haha

You know the sinker tin foil hat conspiracy theory is all in your head right?. There was a great post on Operations Sports with a dude that did a frame by frame analyst to see how well pitch speeds maxed out in The Show 2020 is to Real Life. What he found out is that if you're playing on Legend with maxed pitch speeds it actually comes very close to RL speeds.....The Show 2020 is slightly slower though, what appears as a Chapman's 102 MPH fast ball in RL relates to The Show 2020 97 MPH fast ball..so close enough. I feel The Show 2019 got it correct, its slightly faster than 2020...maybe they should add a bit of speed in a future patch and maybe times will match RL. As for the sinker appearing extra fast this year?, its actually more realistic this year...frame by frame a 94 MPH sinker is the same as a 94 MPH fast ball the reason it appears as if its rising is that slight late movement of what a sinker is. Go read the post for a bit more detail or the casual/noobs that always doubts my posts

I think if 4 seamers had any movement at all it would make them much more effective. I agree with you. I'd like to see sinkers be less effective and 4 seamers get just a little movement to make them more effective. No pitch is perfectly straight in real life.
