June countdown yikes

So tired of people saying "just play online, it's easy missions". Because that is entirely not the point. I wouldn't care if they had a mission that said, "have 1 plate appearance in an online mode". The POINT is that they are forcing it. Completely tone-deaf. You force a player to play a way they do not want to, they will move on to other games. Between an XBox account and a gaming laptop with a Steam account, there are way more options for my $70 next year. Just a shame there is no competition for MLB games.
-
Here is what I don't get about the "play how you want" complaints. How far should we take it? What if the only way I want to play is to do 1 moment per day. Should I be able to get every reward in the game by playing 1 moment per day?
It is actually very simple. A mission like get 3 k's in multiplayer could also have an alternate say even like 25 k's for offline.
Don't get me wrong, I would be totally fine with that. But what if someone doesn't want to do either of those things?
You get upset when people complain, but this is as toxic as any complaint all year. Pure disingenuous nonsense. Come on.
-
they said play as you want and even made a point that offline players at least SOME do not touch online aspect of the game. This is the point and if you cannot get that then your as dense as SDS is -- period
If they want to lock the 3rd part off and make it so you have to use all parts of the game -- fine -- that kind of sucks but allow the offline players to get through the 1st 2 steps / stages of the program before locking them off
This is not that hard to figure out and the fact they still did it tells me they know what they are doing and DO NOT care.

Exactly.
Again, my biggest issue with this program is that they made it seem like it was going to be attainable for everyone (online & offline players) and it isn't.

Don't have Playstation Plus. Thanks SDS. Was looking forward to the Acuna card.
-
Ah, SDS' "play your way"*.
- By your way, we mean our way, because we really want to force everyone into online because we know that's where we can start to make money from you with microtransactions.
Their fall needs to be studied.

I don't get upset when people complain. Getting upset over a video game is never worth it to me. I'm not trying to be disingenuous. Just using an extreme example to make a point. The idea of "playing your way" is basically impossible, because there is always going to be someone out there who doesn't want to do something that is required to earn some rewards.

At least it will be available on the market.
And I know that is not nearly as fun as earning it yourself. As a Cardinals fan who has had to deal with countless pack cards already I understand.

Ugh…. Even I can get on board with the criticism of this program. I won’t say I’m an SDS defender or fanboy, but I tend to get more annoyed at the overreactions by the forums than the SDS shenanigans.
This program though…. Ouch. I agree that the requirements don’t seem to be “hard“, but there is a big group of people who intentionally play this game offline only. And for good reason.
Why are we doing this, SDS?

@rubicante23_PSN people are scared of losing. Its just a game, win or lose it had zero influence on your real life; and if it does, you need help.
-
Here's my concerns about the Multiplayer Missions.
Ok. So you need 2 SBs, in any Multiplayer mode, to get 10 points towards Britton.
Now let's say I unlock Britton and one of the Multiplayer Missions toward unlocking Acuna is for 10 SBs.
Does that mean I need to now get an additional 10 or will the 2 I got towards Britton automatically populate towards the 10 needed for Acuna?
Also, if there are any "Hit X Amount of Homeruns" Missions; prepare for people dashboarding!

- I hate multi-player. Hate hate hate.
- I'm going on vacation for a week in hours.
- I'm an O's fan, so ZB would have been nice.
I have no problem with timed programs. 5 days is nuts. And requiring multiplayer sucks. Hard.
Add to the fact that we're months into the release and the servers still [censored] out regularly? With XP and packs being tougher to get than past years?
Yeah, this is a kick in the teeth. Thanks SDS.

@skywalker_25_PSN the online crowd hates having the spend hours on hours playing conquest, or days playing miniseasons. To be clear, everyone CAN complete this content, they just dont WANT to play online.
-
@Go4stros25_MLBTS I mean except for the people who have T-Mobile. And the people who aren’t paying for PS+/Gamepass. So not everyone.
-
@Pergo_MLBTS some people expect to turn the game on a couple nights per week, complete whatever program or conquest is new, and get enough xp to finish the entire inning program. They expect everything to be earned thru cpu bashing on rookie.
I get it–they dont want to play online, but if sds structured the game that way than the larger community of online players would leave. Its a numbers thing.
I think they shorted both the online and offline community this year, and people are mad about that.
-

It's not that at all.
All I do is hear online players complain anout online play.
- Cheaters
- Dashboarders
- Match ups against superior players
- Disconnects
- Complaints about some magic logic keeping bad players in the game
- Complaints about good contact not being rewarded and bad contact getting hits.
- Etc
As a general rule I would say when it comes to actual gameplay we offline players are more content and happy than most online gamers.
-
@T4RbRuSh_XBL do you expect ads to make content for players who arent paying for ps plus?
The t mobile thing sucks, but change internet providers. I change every couple years for the rates.
-
They already know that they have driven away casuals and don't care as it is the online players that spend money on microtransactions. This is the new playbook for gaming and especially for modes like DD.
You may well be right and if so, then it's the stupidest playbook in the history of the video game industry. Casuals outnumber hard core players by a large margin. This accounts for why the sales figures for MLB The Show have ebbed consistently over the last several years and I'm sure it has dropped further for MLB 26 compared to 25.
It's also entirely possible to have ones cake and eat it too. A company can play to the hard core online crowd and still avoid offending the casual gamers, if the game title is properly written.
-
I choose not to pay for PS+ to play the only game I play online, because
- Online play has been broken for years
- The are many Toxic Players online
- Cheating and Dashboarding
- Constant Pausing.
- Glitched players
- Little attempts to fix the bugs and issues
- Horrible Servers
- Its generally not fun
So, I guess if I had known that offline players would be required to play online as well to complete programs when buying the game, maybe i'd feel differently. But lets be honest. This game has been going down the tubes since MLBtheShow 23 (the last decent games), and I've always given SDS and the LC team the benefit of the doubt. After this kick in the teeth, no more.

I dont think anyone was complaining in 23-24 when the xp path was pretty easy to complete through fairly casual gameplay
