Captains

They've taken away all the creativity of team building.. in a game mode specifically made for team building. They want you to feel like you NEED the newest collection rewards and Chase player to compete, just so they can release next batch a few weeks later. Madden UT has its flaws, as we all know, but being able to get boosts from multiple teams and programs at the same time lets people get creative. A major rework is needed in this area for sure.

@Apolloz_99_MLBTS At the end cycle of the game, yeah. Majority of the year theres only a handful, which is kind of needed to fill out a roster of 60 compared to a roster of 26. Ill agree Im not a fan of it once it gets too out of control though

Lets be honest even in the year where we had team captains for all kinds of conditions only a couple of them were used (switch hitter captain anyone) and there were still a meta where you face the same squads often.

@Dolenz_PSN Several of those captains were very usable, especially at the beginning of each season when we got cornerstone captains. The switch captain was the least useful honestly. Maybe the most used, but the least useful. That was by far the best year for lineup diversity.

While I did love captains, particularly the 2000s theme team, I do think they got a little too "meta" and eventually made lineups feel the same. People ended up only using cards that fit their captain's parameters.
I think that's why they switched to theme teams only. The use of parallel mods has kind of replaced captains in a way, letting you build your cards how you want while still keeping more lineup diversity.
That said, I do think there's a way they can bring captains back and also tweak parallel mods to do a little more. I love the idea, but +9 instead of +5, or +5 and +7 instead of +5 is fun but doesn't really move the needle the way captain boosts did. Those boosts made mediocre cards with good swings feel totally legit.
