Game dying earlier than usual

@Finn_Scotus_MLBTS sony has made some really massive flops lately, mainly concord, marathon, and when they tried to milk the last of us more by making it an online game.
When these companies lose money on games, that cost os pushed onto the customers.
Oh, I agree completely. My point was just that Prior... saying SDS was in charge of their own budget and so it's all their fault was not necessarily true. Sony hamstrings them, and by default, us because of those failures you mentioned.

Different take than most will probably have, but I used to watch YouTube videos for this game daily, across multiple creators. I also checked into streams probably 1-2 times a week.
I've mostly stopped. A lot of the CCs have turned into nonstop negativity machines, and the same tired toxic narrative gets pushed onto an audience that repeats it like gospel.
To be clear, I'm saying "a lot," not all. There are still a handful of creators who are great. But I've unfollowed a bunch because I just don’t need that level of whining and negativity in my life.
And even with the issues in the game right now, I'm still enjoying it as much as ever.

SDS controls the timeline of their releases. Last I checked, there is no law anywhere in the world that requires SDS to release an MLB The Show title each year.
The prime beef here is a lack of upgrades in graphics and gameplay standards to keep pace with the proven technological state of the industry. So, that doesn't require imagination, but just a will to hire the talent needed to maintain the game at the peak level of technology. And even if imagination is needed, truth remains that plenty of customers have handed SDS a roadmap on a silver platter, that the company has rejected.
Finally, SDS controls the size of their payroll, so if they don't have the staff needed to keep the game at the pinnacle, then again that is a choice SDS made.
Sony owns SDS and doubtless has huge say in the size of their payroll. Let's be honest this game is just a blip on Sony's spreadsheet. It's not a choice the employees at SDS made. I'm sure they would love more help to keep up with everything.
And just because you provided them a "roadmap" of ideas doesn't mean a) that your ways are actually what people want, or b) that they have the resources to do them.
You don't even play the freaking game, so please stop acting like you know better than everyone about what needs to be done.I do play the game, just not MLB 26. Perhaps in your limited vision that means something. But, it doesn't!
But, you go right ahead and lick their boots. I'm sure they enjoy laughing at you!

Totally agree with this. My experience has been pretty similar.

I actually had something similar to this typed up earlier and chose not to send it.
I think the reason most people have stopped watching the streamers is not because the game is dying. It's because that sort of streaming is dying. No one wants to be involved in that atmosphere. It's why It sucks that these forums are starting to delve into that feeling.

Things have always been a bit toxic.. but this year has been unbearable. I left all of them + started my own (but it's only got like 35 people).
Been spending most of my energy here lately.
& X is a joke now.

If anyone doesnt want to read all these comments. Ill sum it up for you all. The juice isnt worth the squeeze. Players are not getting rewarded enough for the grind. And I completely agree
-
@JDHalfrack_PSN you know it is possible that the content creators and the players are upset becsuse not only has the game not taken any step forward with next Gen tech, its infact gone backwards in many ways.
The content creators didnt make the player base dislike the game. That makes no sense. Why would someone play a game, and waych creators play the game if they didnt like the game?
Sds made people not like the game by always pushing for more monetization, not addressing glitches, poor servers year after year, rng gameplay, same graphics for a decade.. the list is long man.
I do agree tho. Some streamers suck. That kyle kid is the most annoying person on YouTube. Even kevin has become hard to watch. Dimmu is still fun.

Whats funny is this thread was disingenuous (the guy posting it is one of the main complainers about the 20 card cap) but the responses are probably not what the OP had hoped for.
Also, I can't speak for the show, but streaming communities are often the most toxic places on earth. If there is public dislike of a game just saying something positive about it gets you attacked.
-
@Teak2112_MLBTS so your plan tonight is to go into every thread and be a negative loser? Get a life man.

You do realize the irony in this statement, right?

I don't think there is anything they can do to fix 26
All star break my be a nice content drop but it's just been one bad thing after another this year
-
RIP, MLB The Show '26.
We hardly knew ye.....https://youtu.be/kBR08xXPl-o?is=zfSzFaIGtRXcAcO- -

I agree with that. I was actually watching OhChev the one day, on a twitch drop weekend I think...and he absolutely blew up on people talking about the glitch in the chat and how people should be banned for it etc. Kinda put me off his stream tbh.

@x-814-x-MAFIA-x_PSN post wasn’t even complaining. Just getting an everyone’s opinions out there for SDS to see. This year they had the momentum of WBC to help their sales but next with with a lockout coming and this year leaving a sour taste in peoples mouths next year they gonna have awful numbers unless they improve a lot. Also if game drops again in March GTA 6 will only be 3 months old and a ton of players will just keep playing that and not worry about mlb.
-
@Good-Talk-Bud_XBL if there is a game next a good portion of people will be back even if they say they won’t. All it every is yelling from the sidelines and not actually doing a [censored] thing
-
@Apolloz_99_MLBTS I mean that’s not exactly true or what I mean. Will there be a game released? Yes, will some people buy it? Yes. But if the numbers do really bad for the game Sony won’t be happy because mlb is usually one of their more consistent games year after year. Hopefully they don’t change anything for next years game and it does really bad sales wise and then SDS is forced to make some changes in their team
-
@Good-Talk-Bud_XBL I mean I guess if you change the meaning of the words you used then sure.
-
@Apolloz_99_MLBTS You're both right...there will be those that buy the game again after saying they won't and on the flip side of that, sales have been dwindling and trending downwards for the past three years.
I think SDS would be well served taking a year off, having a small team dedicated to tossing out new content every week for this iteration and coming back strong for '28. And maybe if they take a year off, another Publisher jumps in to fill the void for 27...and then we have competition again, and when that happens- we all win.
-
@Sarge1387_PSN your’re right but the risk of another publisher taking a stab at it is the exact reason SDS will do another game next year
