Team Captains/Theme Teams need major improvements

With Team Captain players getting new items now (plus 88s being very outdated), the whole system needs a major rework. Has been an issue since they introduced them, but something needs to be done. Whether it's adopting a system like Madden where the number of items add up automatically and assign boosts, allowing the hitting captain to be on the bench, adding more Captains, or just actually upgrade TA. I feel like so many items would be utilized more and more variety in teams if they actually put some effort in.

I mean, we all knew that the announcement that there was only going to be a single TA for all year was a mistake before the game even launched. I REALLY don't know what they were thinking with that one.

@mietha_PSN it wouldn’t be as bad if theme teams either A worked like madden where boots where actually worth it and if the player ever played for that team u could change them to that Chem and mlb implemented a Chem system. Or B make the captains go up with the overall creep or make the best version of the Captin players get the boost.

@JCoppock5_PSN They need evolution program TA throughout the year to keep the captains in line with the power creep. Captains have been worthless the last 2 years.

Allowing the captain to be on the bench would be the best! And seems like a easy improvement!

@pbake12_PSN Agreed. The best year of captains was the year when we had a glitch that allowed it.

They need to theme team mode , ranked style where you can only use theme teams. And yes the captain needs a total overhaul. On the bench would be a good enough quick fix to implement immediately. But as others said they need to totally overhaul TA and captains so it’s a viable mode. Could be really fun and make alot of lineup diversity but sds seems to not care about customer satisfaction or addressing clear issue with this game.

@pbake12_psn I believe you can place captains on the bench, but only if their captain boost isn't on.

@pbake12_PSN it would be best if they would continuously evolve. But you should have to play them. Otherwise they are just fodder.

@ApolloZ_99_MLBTS This is what I’m saying. Instead of a new TA, give each team an evolution program for those TA captains that lets us improve them every few innings. It can be similar to TA, but the same guys, just a better Captain version.

To add on to the evolving captain idea, a gold version of the captain would be a way cooler thing then foam finger

@Teak2112_MLBTS I like the #1 fan icon, but you could start with that and later add a gold version of the 99 evolution player later, after you evolve for the last time, from #1 fan program.

It is an easy fix. There should be objectives on the Jolt Captains that would upgrade their rating as you play with them. Have them max out at 95 or something

Yes. They should add a mechanic as you progress through TA the Jolt Captains upgrade their attributes. A #1 fan and they both go 99. Although some #1 fans are very easy and others very hard. Maybe tier the cards based on the parameters for stat objectives in #1 fan.

@grimmdogg23_PSN I don’t think you could make them achievable day 1. That would mean 60+ day 1 99’s. You’d have to do drops or evolution programs throughout the year.

Should be a new upgrade path each inning. You can safely sit out an inning or 3 and multi task them later if you want, but gives grinders something to do.
I do feel each team should get a card per inning as well, but a filler card that addresses holes and not necessairly a star or legend. Relievers in particular are typically needed
One issue with everything at the start of the year is once you max out the track it feels worse to use the teams cards (since you are blocking another teams progress). And that is permanent as there will never be content for that team again.

@grimmdogg23_PSN tell me about it Mike Schmidt had to hit almost 550 hrs. I’m on switch so this is a littler harder but its also one of the higher ones around.
