Spotlight program as expected BUT ....
-
@On_a_Power_Trip_PSN Also, compared to Corbin Carroll’s April lighting last year which was only a 92, this is pretty lackluster.
-
@TripleH-4481_PSN yeah I get that that was literally me last year live series was a absolute drag took till I think augest for me.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN the algorithm thinks you’re over indexing speed cause Corbin’s metaOVR was below 90 so maybe you were good with him but the card wasn’t actually as good as you remember
(I looked up the attributes too: 64 vision, 65 Power L. I’m not even sure this was that much better than his RoTY card this year is.)
-
@On_a_Power_Trip_PSN I’m not going off memory. I’m comparing the ratings.
Corbin +10 Con R +6 Pow R +26 spd +5 Fld
Elly +5 Con R +32 Pow L +6 Clt
Reaction is a little different this year, but Carroll has the advantage there too. I’m not saying Carroll was better, but Elly being +2 overall over that card feels disappointing in comparison. I like how you cherry picked a couple things to help your point instead of showing the whole picture.
The power creep started lower last year. In comparison to other cards at the time, it was better IMO.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN sure - I think SDS tweaked something on the overall side and maybe he’s on the low end of what a 94 is in DD this year, but a 32-point difference in power is A WHOLE LOT, plus ofc he bats switch
-
@On_a_Power_Trip_PSN Fair, I just think it could have been better.
-
@GoozeFn_PSN I agree. they probably had a few points they didn’t use, and a 94 lightning should be on the precipice of the new red diamond tier.
-
@Dolenz_PSN he has lower speed than Langliers Spotlight. Maybe they should rethink how they do speed in this game.

-
Why don’t they calculate speed on stolen bases?
Because there is a specific attribute for that.
Josh Naylor is #384 out of 386 players in the Statcast Speed list and he has 6 stolen bases to Elly's 8 so they should have close to the same speed?
Eli White is flagged as the fastest player so far this season and has 0 stolen bases. That is the same amount of stolen bases as Christian Vasquez who is flagged as the slowest (#386). So if we calculated by SB they would have the same speed?
-
@Dolenz_PSN Are you saying the steal rating is solely based on speed on a steal attempt? The jump they get isn’t a factor?
-
I can't say for sure what the criteria is for the stealing attribute.
Josh Naylor has a 10 Speed Attribute which means he is one of the slowest in the game, which based on Statcast ranking seems to be true. However, He has a 70 Steal rating . He stole 30 bases in 32 attempts last year.
With the three year averages that they use to start the season it is hard to get an exact read. But that three year average is why Elly's speed on his live series is better than his speed on his Spotlight, which is just for April.
Elly is ranked 121 (tied) in speed and has stolen 8 bases being caught 3 times. That gives him 73 speed and 80 Steal attributes
Langeliers ranked 57th in speed and has 0 SB and 0 attempts and he has a 75 speed attribute but he also a Steal attribute of 0.
I am the first to criticize SDS for unrealistic attribute ratings at times but at least in this case, on the surface, it makes some sense.
-
@Dolenz_PSN I get it, but they do things all the time that don’t perfectly align with the metrics. Remember when they gave Yordan’s cycle card 66 speed. Was that based on his speed around the bases that day? Doubt it. I’m not asking for something unreasonable here.
-
SDS has never published how they determine Steal ratings but based on some community guesses it’s a combination of:
SB totals
SB success rate
attempt frequencyNaylor has such a high Steal rating because he went 19/19 in steals last year. He’s not 99 because he only stole 19.
I don’t think that’s the hard and fast rule but seems to make the most sense.

Well, that is always the kicker isn't it.
They tweak ratings based on the overall they want it to be and where they want it to fall in relation to other cards of that rating. Or even based on Card Series
I'm still salty that Ozzie Smith never got a card with Diamond fielding last year. Or that for 80% of the game's lifecycle my only Lou Brock card had 75 speed and 62 steal
-
@SavageSteve74_PSN Ok, earlier I was asking why they don’t measure speed during a steal as part of their speed metric. Not SDS, the statcast. Seems like best time to measure speed, not on a weak ground ball out that players don’t go hard on.
-
I think it’s because stealing isn’t all about pure sprint speed, it’s 95% the jump they get that usually determines success. The fast runners make up a bad jump with speed but they aren’t always running full sprint since they’re only running maybe 50 feet (after the jump and before they have to slow down for the slide).

NOT THE POINT ....
The point is what they tell the players about how to play the game does not match the actions and if you cannot get that then whatever your just as clueless as the suite up top who is messing over the offline players.
I expected we would get packs for each drop in the program but instead they opted to give us new cards
-
Last year we had a chance to earn the spotlight packs from each week prior in the Lightning Program but this year you moved it to a ONLINE thing. You say you do not want to force offline players into online play and then do something like this. Your actions do not match the message you send out to the fans and that is wrong and whoever made this decision. -- SHAME ON YOU
These people lied again?! These liars are bad fr. This is the 2nd time they lied about something, the 1st time was an employee on stream claiming that there are actual secondary positions in RTTS to someone here. However, that person made a topic on it and he tested it out AND IT JUST SO HAPPENED THAT THERE REALLY ISN'T SECONDARY POSITIONS. Then the Joe employee confirmed that secondary positions are only for two-way players. It's sad that the SDS employees are liars now.

They had the extra players in there last year too for the lightning week. They put the packs in events instead
