Honest Review of MLB The Show 26
-
Why continue playing the game if you rate it this low? I wouldn't waste a second of time on a game as bad as that review. So weird
People like you point this out, yet the community continue to play the game.
-
If people don't care of some of those issues and just play the game for what it is and still enjoys, why would they stop playing the game?
-
Sinkers warp
Inconsistent hitting results
Need dedicated servers
Collections too hard to completeExactly what he said in the 20,000 word essay.
-
If you're a 780 player and you play with any frequency, you should not be having much trouble getting almost all of the rewards with no money spent. I'm more sympathetic to the complaint if you really struggle online.
-
There’s no world where a sinker defies physics and goes from the pitchers hand to the catchers mitt in less time at a slower velocity than a 4 seam thrown at a higher velocity..
99 mph will always be faster than 98.9 mph..
So why in the hell does your game defy physics? Why is a 96 mph sinker faster/harder to catch up to than a 100 mph 4 seam.. regardardless of outlier..This is something I've noticed with guys who have "power" breaking pitches (Varland's 85 mph curve, Miller's power slider for example). Varland's gets on you super quick, moreso than his fastball. I believe that this is the result of SDS messing a little too much with the timing windows this year.
I’d like to see the numbers on a spreadsheet of which percentage of your total player base ( not this year because of how many cheaters and where they’re ranked ) make up the 800+ rated vs 600-790 and <600 rated
A quick google search, pulled from developer API says that only 1.2% of the player base is 800 or higher. By %:
- (400-499) makes up the highest singular % of players at 25-30%,
-(500-599) makes up 16-18%,
-(600-699) makes up roughly 12%.
-(200-299) makes up 22-25%
-ST- Tough to get a read on actual activity because the vast majority of those stuck in ST are "one and dones", or just inactive- those who tried it and just never came back.
So even if you use the lower end, 75% of your active player base is between 400 and 699, with about 15-20% being inactive passive ST players, which leaves that final ~5% for 700 and up.
P.S. stop gate keeping live series collections for the best of your players..
I agree with the sentiment, but this will never happen...not until SDS gets more consumer friendly again
ITS TIME FOR NEWER AND BETTER SERVERS.
Yeah, they're janky AF. Agree here
I'll add that doing away with arguably the best grind, TA, was certainly a choice. And I'll also agree that for the vast majority of this content, the juice most definitely is not worth the squeeze.
-
@Sarge1387_PSN they have to do contain live series some what, there is no reason people should be having those players within the first month of release. But they should also cap their price.
-
@apolloz_99_mlbts people get live series done day one by spending money so saying that people shouldn't have it done that early is wrong
-
@sbchamps17_NSW it’s not wrong. There should be 3 99s in a majority of lineups that early. If you don’t agree then you don’t agree. It’s also not the same if people spending hundreds to thousands dollars of real money vs stubs you actually earn in the game.
-
@Sarge1387_PSN absolutely in a given entire game cycle aka 12 months. Less than 5 percent of players make world series. If that. The vast majority of players are between 400 and 600 without a doubt.
Why it pisses me off so much that they took away the online programs that actually made online fun for the casual players. Fire this person sds who made that decision. Right now.
-
@SpawnOfDitka_XBL Yeah, some questionable moves for sure. It's worse because a good deal of them are blatant kicks in the a$$ towards the MTX shop, right?
There has to be some happy medium here because like Apollo said we can't give stuff away, but at the same time it can't be top 5% exclusive- which is what a good chunk of it seems like right now

We will never see dedicated servers. PTP is much cheaper and that is why they would keep them. You know what also cost money? Combatting cheaters. I honestly don't think they have done anything about them especially the pitching ones.

True. The Bellinger collection stung because that sounded like it was going to be attainable until they threw it behind another collection. We have so many cards hidden behind collections, chase and rare round. It wouldn't hurt them to have some good cards for a 12 team conquest or something. You need to feel a little rewarded for your time. I will say that although I haven't reached him yet, Trout was a really good pick for XP boss.
-
@D_e_m_I_s_E_MLBTS I picked him up for beli I just haven’t found room for trout yet he’s a bench platoon vs lefty’s rn. Beli is nuts tho. But agreed way too expensive of a collection. For a card that’s been free every other year.
-
For a card that’s been free every other year.
SDS philosophical change the past couple years, into this year has become "Gouge 'em wherever we can"
-
Actually wait my bad year it was Duran I had to buy him.
-
Next I’ve gotta talk about cpu pitching
In the show 24 they made some changes to how the cpu would pitch to you and it was also a miserable experience.. the cpu pitchers regardless of their attributes/ratings would consistently (at an unnatural rate) always have “just late or very late pitch release timing” and the pitch would either be way out of the zone or perfectly on the edge of the zone to the point that it made playing the game vs the cpu in every mode intolerable…
In 25 I had no problem with cpu pitching whatsoever.. no complaints…I completely agree with this statement. At the beginning of this year it was still good, but ever since they adjusted the strike zone, they also adjusted the cpu piotching where every CPU pitcher is dotting the ball on the edges no matter their rating. It has made hitting against CPU rage inducing and they need to change that.
-
If there is one thing I would like to point out that sds changed, it's the programs we have now that you can realistically complete without having to do all the moments or missions or the stupid pack rewards mini collections.
-
Until this game fixes all the other things and get dedicated servers it’s pretty much a laughing stock as far as online competitive play goes
-
my gripe with collections is you have series that have only 2 cards and need both when one was a chase card that you can't get anymore ( at least not easily its pack luck ) release more cards for these series put them in a conquest a 95 signature card of joe blow. or here is an idea if you manage to get a chase pack make it a chase card inside even some of the older ones would be better than my 12th max fried or make it one of the other cards like headliner or the special packs ( egg hunt, bullpen bash and so on ). The spotlight collections are just a joke the players you earn playing the game do you no good for the lightning players you need all the pack cards for that and you can never get enough packs to pull everyone you need. should have that a mix weighted more to the players you earn counting for that.
-
I want to be able to use a bigger portion of my cards. Force us to play with some of these other cards more. It cant be just meta cards being used online all the time. Creativity on their part would be my biggest gripe. That and lack of online programs.
